If you thought Bryan Adams was just another pop star, this impressive performance will prove a revelation. Before an appreciative crowd of 56,000 fans in the natural amphitheater near Slane Castle in Ireland, Adams and his bandmates (drummer Mickey Curry and guitarist Keith Scott) provide a hard-driving set of Adams's best-known songs, working wonders with their muscular three-piece arrangements. While providing a solid bass foundation, Adams is an amiable host in top form, moving quickly and confidently from rockers like "It's Only Love" to the chart-topping ballad "(Everything I Do) I Do It for You," and the crowd proves its devotion with a massive sing-along. Former Spice Girl Mel C. appears--along with a lucky girl from the audience--for a lively rendition of "When You're Gone," and the entire concert is faithfully reproduced in crystal-clear 5.1-channel audio. It's a rockin' good show, and the backstage footage and interviews are a welcome bonus. --Jeff Shannon

4 out of 5 stars Not as bad..........2005-12-24

While reading some of the other reviews for this concert you might get the feeling that this concert isn't so hot. The Japanese show may be better (can't say as I have not yet seen it) however that is beside the point as we're reviewing this show not that one.

The audio is quite good... not perfect but certainly not a disgrace. The video can be rather grainy at times especially in the low light shots but it isn't bad enough to take away from the overall concert experience.

Yes, Bryan pulls a fan on stage to sing Since You're Gone with Mel C... and yes, the girl has the singing ability of a tone deaf squid but thankfully you hear only a few lines before her mic magically dies. ;-)

One track on this DVD/concert that really caught me off guard is the techno styled "Don't Give Up". This is pretty cool coming from BA as it isn't exactly his genre. He and Keith do a nice job mixing electric guitars into a techno beat and the crowd really seems to enjoy it. A cool and unexpected track!

Overall I think this is a very good concert. The songs are well performed, the setting is great, the crowd is into the show, and the disc has a few nice bonus features.

3 out of 5 stars NOT nearly as great as...BRYAN...Live at the BUDOKAN : 2000.......2005-06-01

The live DVD...BRYAN ADAMS-Live at the BUDOKAN : 2000...is MUCH better than the live DVD...Live at SLANE CASTLE.

Recorded by NHK...[JAPAN NATIONAL T.V]...the sound recording and production is second to none...The Japanese are great at music sound recording...And they are great with 5.1 sound.

SLANE CASTLE...only gives you 20 songs with 2 of the best songs in the bonus tracks for some reason?

INTO THE FIRE...and...HAVE YOU EVER LOVE A WOMAN...are part of the main set on...the live DVD...BRYAN ADAMS-Live at the THE BUDOKAN : 2000.

You also get in the main set the classic...BRYAN ADAMS'...song...REMEMBER.

Live at the BUDOKAN : 2000...has 26 songs and if you get the * 1 live DVD + 1 live CD edition * you also get a 15 track BONUS live CD , from the same show!

SLANE CASTLE...does not offer that.

In BOTH DVDS....a girl comes on stage to sing a song.

SLANE CASTLE...doesn't have that " I was there " feel and the sound is not as good as the...BUDOKAN : 2000...live DVD.

The BUDOKAN...live DVD...has GREAT 5.1 sound.

BRYAN''s...singing is also MUCH better on the...Live at the BUDOKAN : 2000...live DVD.

KEITH's...great GUITAR playing...is much more obvious on the...BUDOKAN : 2000...DVD...The sound is just incredible.

So you don't miss the KEYBOARDS , at all.

So , do yourself a favour and please read for yourself the major differences between...SLANE CASTLE...and the DVD...Live at the BUDOKAN : 2000...and see for yourself that it has allot more to offer than...SLANE CASTLE.

You will be happy that you did...I own both DVDS and I chose the BUDOKAN : 2000...live DVD hands down!

5 out of 5 stars Best BA I have ever heard.......2004-02-02

BA is in the best voice that I have ever heard from him. I am an old fan - I have heard everything from BA - and most of the songs in this concert were better than his recorded/radio versions. His voice seems to have gotten better with age. (No, really!) It was unusual to have the concert done with only a three-piece band, but I enjoyed it...but it would have been better with another guitar to fill out the sound. The editing was excellent, blending shots from many different cameras and angles in order to keep the DVD moving.

The extras are good - but the band interview could have been much better and in depth. I especially liked the photo gallery included as an extra on this DVD. Overall, an excellent buy and a must for any BA enthusiast.

5 out of 5 stars Bryan Adams is the best Canadian performer EVER!.......2003-11-19

I went to the Bryan Adams concert in Edmonton, Alberta Canada on Thursday November 13th 2003. It was amazing! Bryan is the best Canadian performer EVER! This DVD is excellent, I have had it for over a year and watch it at least once a month. The "live" aspect is so much better than watching a series of music videos.. you really see him for who he is. I would recommend this DVD to anyone!
