A must have.......2007-05-18
I gave this 4 stars and not 5 simply because there's no Mogg. I think he made those songs complete with his expressive voice. Other than that, they were great! And the bonus interview will explain why schenker left
UFO!
World Wide Live a damn fine effort........2007-01-12
Michael Schenker has done it again, if you're a longtime fan of the man you guessed it. He has cancelled his North American Tour again, well, since I won't get getting the chance to see him this year, I will submit for you a review of his latest DVD entitled World Wide Live 2004, granted it's not the most original titled in the world, hell his older brother has this little band called The Scorpions that had a record called World Wide Live a number of years ago. The title however is the only thing that is questionable about this DVD, the show is shot superbly, great shots of the band, and some of the diehards might point out that there aren't enough shots of Schenker himself, but you can take that up with the camera crew I suppose. There are a total of 15 tracks on this recording; it's all the hits and then some, a well rounded set. Michael puts on a furious performance as do his cohorts Wayne Findlay on rhythm guitar and keyboards, James "Rev" Jones on bass and Pete Holmes on drums and providing vocals is the charismatic Chris Logan. Among the highlights on World Wide Live 2004 are; "Lights Outs," "Into the Arena," "Only You Can Rock Me," "Too Hot to Handle," "Armed and Ready," "Doctor, Doctor" and closer "Rock Bottom." I saw Schenker in 2004 and The Mad Axeman was on fire the night I saw him and he's on fire on this DVD. If you've never experienced Schenker live this is a great representation and the next best thing to being there. Included is a fantastic and informative interview bonus with Schenker, which will reveal a thing or two that you might not know. Overall this DVD package is a worth every penny and you'll feel like you're there.

BUY THIS DVD! Ignore Negative Reviews.......2005-11-12
Michael sounds excellent throughout this video, and his band is just great. the bass player, as weird as he may look to some, is really good. His (the bass player, Rev.'s) solo on Into the Arena proves that he fits right in to this band, one listen will prove that to any non-jealous/bitter listener.
The singing and the drums are quite good as well. The singer isn't exactly Graham Bonnet (uh..how many ARE?) but he sounds fine to me.
I would think that ANY fan of Michael Schenker and/or great Rock guitar would LOVE this disc as much as I do. The interview at the end is pleasingly long and detailed, and I was thrilled to hear such an influential artist talk about his life and works.
Though I would have loved to have had some Walk on Water material on this, as well as the often excellent material from the more recent solo albums, it's hard to argue with the older songs being done up on a dazzlingly lit up stage.
I thought that the listed price on this dvd was actually kind of LOW for so much music AND an interview, etcetera. I feel like Michael's not getting properly compensated for his contribution to music. Not to mention the fact that this disc proves that he's far and away one of the top five guitar players in the Rock/Metal world today.
I've played guitar for twenty one years, and I have not hesitated to tell my students to grab this dvd for their introduction to Michael Schenker. Kids like to have "video" with their music, and this disc provides both, in spades.
It say s alot FOR this video that I would reccomend it over what I used to for Michael's experience (used to be Assault Attack and Strangers in the Night).
I have a bad feeling that the negative, completely unrealistic reviews of this disc were written by failed, bitter guitar players with an axe to grind that couldn't stand up to five minutes of Michael's playing. Take that to heart, people. This dvd ROCKS, and features some great playing by someone whom is quite rightly still regarded as the top ten best OF ALL TIME.
Horrendous DVD DON'T BUY IT!!!.......2005-10-25
I was in Chicago at the recording of some of the songs on "Strangers," including the opening introduction of the band. For the next 10 or so yrs I tried learning the solo to "Rock Bottom" and it became embedded in my head!!!! UFO was one of my favorite bands, influencing me to rip on the fret boards... Anyhows, I saw this DVD and bought it. Big mistake! Why does Michael just stand there on the side of the stage looking like a statue. Bill Wyman mastered that. Then the camera is a mile away. Lastly the solo to "Rock Bottom" was so bad! UGGGH! Muting and turning the volume low is not how to play it! That just broke my heart and to this day I'm super pist about this crap! Damn, I was so mad I only saw it once and never want to see another MSG live video or dvd again! I'll stick with the cd.
Ok but where's the good stuff?.......2005-10-05
I, too, have to wonder what's up with the people criticzing the quality. Mine also looks and sounds GREAT.
I'm a big fan (seen him 5 times beginning with UFO in 1977) and the problems I have are: The singer isn't very good compared to others MS has worked with (Liked Leif Sundin the best but have never heard live stuff with him), the set list sucks, the WORST version of Rockbottom I have EVER heard (and I probably have around 20-25) and I disagree with one reviewer and think the bassist is horrible!! Sounds and plays good, I just can't stand his visual presentation (B-budget Flea is 1st thing that comes to mind). He may be cool to a 15 year old skate punk, but not on stage with MSG!! But then again...I guess MS likes him and he CAN play. Bottom line...there's other MSG & UFO stuff out there now that is more deserving of your money than this, I particularly liked the Live in Las Vegas VHS. Only for the hardcore MS fan.
