I thought this was an awesome DVD. I have alot of their videos and this was the best to me. I started listening to INXS when i was 13 years old and that wasn't long before michael passed away. When your watching searching you can tell that Michael had things on his mind at this time.

Not Complete but Good .......2007-03-02

The live version of Searching really shows the true beauty of Michael Hutchence. Some of their videos were commercially overproduced. If they had just paired it down to the rawness of his voice and the band's funk they could have even been better. But the early videos especially from Listen Like Thieves show the band's high energy chutzpah. I liked INXS as a kid, they were Asian, Australian, and British. Unique, not too pretty like Duran Duran. But bold and vibrant. The critics really attacked their later albums. Which is a great shame, I truly believe Michael was just beginning creatively. To a more an intimate sound, perhaps jazz/blues and away from top 40. Watching them performing Searching live on the awards show, that clip really shows what a powerful band they could be. It's too bad they are remembered as just another lost 80's dance band. There was something else there.

This is the ultimate collection for any Inxs fan. I love them as much now, as I did in the eighties. Some videos I have never seen before, so that makes it all the better. The video for kiss the dirt stands out to me,because it was filmed in the Australian Outback. What you need and Listen like thieves are also unique videos. Before they show each video, one of the members of Inxs tells you about it, which I thought was neat. There are also live performances on here which are great. If you like Inxs at all, then you should definitely buy this.

i have been a die hard inxs fan for many many years. this is the best dvd of their best videos to watch...especially taste it!! buy it!!

Great for the Fan - Lacking for the Maniac.......2007-01-10

This is a great DVD set for the fan, but falls short for the INXS maniac.
It's great seeing these videos in DVD format - like watching them again for the 1st time. What does that mean? Check out all the crew hanging around in the background of "Don't Change". The band mentions special uniforms/attire for "Listen Like Thieves" - you can see what they are talking about now, and you couldn't have seen that on VHS, and probably didn't see that on TV. "Shining Star" also had a video. Its featured here, is funny, and is a much needed break after the X videos, which are ok but not groundbreaking.

The second disk of videos is also really good for the fan. It features rare concert footage and album track videos that didn't quite make the cut for the main disk. The remix of "Searching" is probably the best of the bunch. The video for "Don't Loose Your Head" is as good as the movie, and thankfully shorter. "Simple Simon" is an early look at the band in a live setting.

There are also some technoish remixes and photos on the 2nd disk. "Suicide Blonde" and "Disappear" maybe for the remixes. INXS did better techno remixes than these. Not bad material, but nothing special. The interview with INXS video master Richard Lowenstein is informative and entertaining, but a bit too short at 20 minutes.

The sound is also excellent for the most part - remixed for a surround sound system, but every once in a while, the remixing is a bit off and overpowering. There's a synth blast in "Don't Change" that's frightening, but the surround mix at the beginning of "Beautiful Girl" is beautiful.

With all that being said, for the INXS maniac, this is missing some of the best videos from their early albums. Cheesy but classic "Stay Young" & "To Look at You" and great ones like "Dancing on the Jetty" & "Burn for You" are nowhere to be found. Maybe they are hidden easter eggs. Well good luck finding them if that's true. There's no info on the internet and Sherlock Holmes and J Edgar Hoover would have to work for years to find them. It also overfeatures their later work. Like I mentioned earlier, the videos done in the X period just aren't that great, and they are overfeatured. "Bitter Tears", "Disappear", and "By My Side" run together, and are a bit of a lull. They'd be great for a completist work, but if you're leaving out better videos for more popular songs, then that hurts the video collection a bit.

So overall, great for the fan, but severly lacking for the maniac. A supplement is dreadfully needed.
