Madonna - Video Collection 1993-99 is the ultimate gift for any hard-core Madonna fan. Of course it's not a complete collection, videos like Deeper and Deeper, This Used to Be My Playground and some others are missing, but this is still a great collection of Madonna's groundbreaking videos. My favorites include: Frozen, Ray of Light, The Power of Good-bye, Take A Bow, Bad Girl, and Beautiful Stanger. Great picture and sound quality and who could not resist Madonna's tight leather get-up for the video, Human Nature. Buy it today, perfect for any music collection. Happy viewing!

This is a really wonderful collection of videos covering seven years of her music. Each one has its own distinctive look and design - she does an amazing job of reinventing herself each time. Granted, she also comes across as being quite in love with herself in this collection, but what else is new? Just watch the pretty pictures and you'll be fine. :)

1 - Bad Girl: With Christopher Walken. It's interesting - everyone else says that he plays her guardian angel, but I always interpreted his character as her dead beloved, even though there aren't any pictures of him around her flat. I think it's the whole "I miss you, I'm not happy" thing going on.
2 - Fever: M's redo of a Peggy Lee classic. I swear this video is playing in every gay club in the US - it's that colorful and fun.
3 - Rain: Easy on the eyes after all the brilliant fiery colors and metallics of the previous vid. She's in Japan shooting her video, looking fantastic in a pixie cut.
4 - Secret: Black and white, and M's look is gleefully trashy as she sits on the edge of a bar's stage, singing. I love it! Wonderful people shots in her character's neighborhood. Can't quite figure out the story - is her character pregnant, and her lover is keeping it a secret and she's enjoying it?!
5 - Take a Bow: Bullfighting in Spain is the real star here. The vid tells the story of a woman dumping her bullfighter lover because he doesn't appreciate her. She looks fab in 40s vintage, and I love the opening scenes of them both getting dressed to go out: she corsets and layers just like he does. The visual comparisions were neat.
6 - Bedtime Story: An interesting dream-sequencey kind of video, with silly lyrics. Interesting to watch, though. I guess her character is in some sort of suspended animation, and these are her dreams.
7 - Human Nature: Eye-catching choreography and fascinating vinyl and leather outfits. Good lyrics, too, actually. :)
8 - Love Don't Live Here Anymore: Snoozeville. 'Nuff said.
9 - Frozen: Visually dark (underexposed), but fascinating. I love how M becomes a flock of birds, and the desert scenery is striking and fits with the theme of the music. I wish she'd go back to her dark hair. She's gorgeous with it.
10 - Ray of Light: The song itself is really good, even though the lyrics make no sense to me. The vid is "Eh, whatever". Pretty much anyone can speed up visuals and put a song to it.
11 - Drowned World/Substitute for Love: M is numb to fame, and would rather, in the end, spend time with her kids. I wonder how much (if any) of that footage is culled from real paparazzi footage?
12 - The Power of Goodbye: Pretty people at a beach house playing chess while she writhes around on a short wall, singing. Okay, but can I have more cliff footage, please?
13 - Nothing Really Matters: One of M's classic Selfish Songs ("Nothing really matters/Love is all we need/Everything I give you/All comes back to me.") set to an oddball Japanese theme. She looks neat in the black kabuki/kimono thing, but the red one's a bit head-scratchy. And the noh-inspired Japanese characters are random too. Still want to dance to it, though. :)
14 - Beautiful Stranger: The best part of this vid is Power's fantasies of M with him in his car! :)

All in all a good collection. Enjoy!

a stunning collection.......2006-10-26

Madonna took a giant leap forward in making her videos in the 90's. Every clip was unique, and collected together, it's actually quite amazing to think all these videos are from the same artist. Talk about "reinvention". No one has done it better than Madonna. More than a few of the most striking videos of our time have come from her. Excellent!
