That Alice in Chains were, in the early 1990s, routinely bracketed alongside Seattle counterparts Nirvana, Pearl Jam, and Soundgarden as exemplars of grunge always had more to do with geography than reality. Alice in Chains were a heavy metal band, pure and simple. And like most successful heavy metal bands, they attracted an unusually devoted fan base, who will be well rewarded by this generous 94-minute compilation. Music Bank contains all Alice in Chains' videos, plus the kind of curios that suggest that someone, somewhere, put some thought into this. The clips are broken up with grabs of on-the-road footage shot by the band members themselves, and the program begins with a local television documentary made about them before they'd signed their record deal: the scenes shot in the kitchen of the house they were sharing at that point are probably best avoided by the faint-hearted. --Andrew Mueller

Customer Reviews:
Excellent Anthology.......2007-04-14
Music Bank: the Videos has everything an Alice in Chains fan could hope for in a video anthology. Alice in Chains left behind a powerful musical legacy, thanks in large part to the dynamic and often disturbing videos featured on this DVD.
The main program:
This DVD features the complete video collection by the band, as well as some interesting behind the scenes footage. The videos are as visceral and moving today as they were in the 90's, and despite all the MTV I watched in that decade there are some videos on this DVD that I had never seen before. I've read some complaints about the sound quality, but didn't experience any difficulties myself. This DVD looks and sounds terrific.
The bonus material:
There's really nothing in the way of "special features" on this DVD, but there is plenty of bonus material. The DVD starts off with a short promotional video that featured the band pre-Facelift. The songs they're playing are from their Alice n' Chainz days, and can only be found on the AIC box set. It's a fascinating way to start the DVD, as it provides a look at the band when they were just starting out. There are also several musical interludes throughout the disc that feature lots of previously unseen live and behind the scenes footage.
The verdict:
Buy it already! If you're an Alice in Chains fan, this is a must-own DVD. Since vocalist Layne Staley's death, this video collection also effectively serves as a memorial to his troubled life and creative spirit.
This is what drugs do to you.......2007-04-12
This DVD was my first Alice in Chains - Music Bank - The Videosreal visual experience of band that I have been calling my favourite for 15 years. In a way it answered so many questions. What an experience? To watch the bands video clips back to back, told the story of the band and ultimately Layne's last years. I can't imagine getting the same perspective sitting there watching music video clips on TV over the years. Here you saw the talent grow continuosly, coupled with the rise peak and fall of Layne and his relationship with drugs..... It was so compelling I showed my 13 year old - this is what drugs do to you. I loved the DVD, but then again I love Alice in Chains, but shame about the Audio quality
It is what it is.........2007-02-28
A good video collection with great sound and some home videos to boot. Nice package for the money, and a great way to remember one of the best bands ever to grace our ears.
two stories told.......2007-01-27
Watching this video, I thought two things. One, what a great and artistic group of musicians Alice in Chains was. It's the kind of music that when you listen to the lyrics you feel the souls of Staley and Cantrell just pouring out in their music. It's all the more evident when you see it. At the same time, it's amazing to trace how Layne Staley disintegrated from his rampant heroine from the early videos to the MTV unplugged show AIC performed. The irony is that if he was clean, we probably wouldn't have any of this music to remember him by. Sometimes I guess it's better to burn out than fade away. A great DVD.
Fantastic!.......2006-12-28
Awesome collection of videos from one of the greatest bands of all times. I think you won't feel disappointed with the content, as it includes all the videos ever made by the band as well as some additional `on the road' footage shot by the band and crew members.
The only reason, why a hardcore Alice in Chains devotee like myself would not give this one a flawless five-star rating is because for some reason someone did a terrible mess-up with the audio mix making it almost a crime to hear the now hideously disfigured vocals in `We die young', or how the arrangements sound in `I stay away'.
If you can live with that, then I guess this is the ultimate AIC deal ever.
