Editorial Review:
Description
Born in Indianola, Mississippi, Albert King remains one of the most influential blues guitarists of all time and enjoyed a successful career that spanned four decades, with wide critical and commercial acceptance throughout the world. The left- handed blues giant wrenched stinging solos from his trademark Gibson Flying V, informing the sound and style of such admirers as Eric Clapton, Luther Allison, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Taj Mahal and Jimi Hendrix. This never before released concert film presents King in top form, tearing through his signature songs at the peak of his career. Songs include "Born under a Bad Sign," "The Sky Is Crying," "The Very Thought of You," "Cadillac Assembly Line," "Summertime," "Cold Women with Warm Hearts," "As the Years Go Passing By."

Very disappointed in this DVD.......2007-03-05
In a nutshell - A lot of useless, boring "FILLER" and very
little "CONCERT". Only diehard ABBA fans should purchase
this DVD; those fans who can't get enough of ABBA in any way,
shape or form. Those who want to sit back and enjoy a
"concert" on DVD should shy away from this piece of work.
Not Enough Music.......2007-02-14
This is probably great for the ABBA fan who wants to learn about the group, but if you are wanting a video of them doing what they do best, you will probably be disappointed. The DVD includes too much stuff that is not ABBA performing. The bits and pieces of their performances that are included are good, but I had hoped for more of a "concert" DVD as the title suggests.
Abba.......2006-11-13
Very nice.....I attended the concert in 1979 in San Diego, and the disc is very representative of that famous tour.
Great to see this on DVD now.............2006-10-15
I remember watching this video on a PBS Soundstage program in 1980 or 1981. Before that I my have heard of ABBA on radio but never paid much attention. But after seeing this documentary on PBS I was hooked on them. To bad it was at the end of them being a group. I recorded it on Beta Format tape at the time and have had it since [I still have a beta player in closet]. I often wondered how I could transfer it to DVD until I seen they had released it on DVD. I have watched it many times since and have enjoyed it just as much as I did the 1st time I ever seen it. I read a lot of gripping here on what is on this DVD. Remember this was a made for TV presentation. If you watch the interview of the guy that did the filming you will know why there is nothing more to add. If you go to this web site it explains it in detail [...] . I'm so happy to have it on DVD now. That is all I have to say about it....g'day
Hole in Your Soul.......2006-08-21
What's the best thing about this video? The big choral number "I Have a Dream" joined by what looks like eighty children at Wembley Stadium. Did ABBA find new children in every city in the 1979 tour and train them each briefly on the afternoon of the show? I don't think "I have a Dream" is a very easy number for kids to sing, with that long, held note on "I belieeeeeeve," and yet these kids sail into it like pros. I wonder if any of the 1979 kids grew up and became pop stars themselves? The ones you see on the documentary all look as though spotlights are second nature to them; in the light they seem to grow into ttheir full selves and find a brief happiness before being led off into the shadows of backstage. I wonder if a new documentary, rounding up these kids 30 years later, like that "7 Up" Michael Apted series tracing London schoolchildren into their teens and beyond, could be commissioned by the BBC so that finally we could see what happened to the little angels. I wonder if they were orphans or maybe just professional child actors from some RADA of childhood. Anyway that's one of my great highlights from ABBA IN CONCERT, which must have been filmed, in my estimation, just as "Gimmie! Gimmie! Gimmie! (A Man after Midnight)" had been released as a single, and ABBA was in the process of seeking a harder, rockier sound.
Which really shows up in the best numbers here, among them the fiery, eclectically scored SUMMER NIGHT CITY, and perhaps only a little less successfully, HOLE IN YOUR SOUL, which borrows from old school 50s US a cappella groups and the big "Philles" sound of Phil Specter and Jack Nietzsche to create a mobius strip of sound, in which big bursts of guitar alternate with an eerie blast of silence, then the angelic voices of Agnetha and Frida rising to a shout. It's at this period that people were really looking at ABBA and asking themselves, are they the strange ones, or are we? Bjorn and Benny seem to be in constant control of their women, and yet they seem helpless, nearly stupefied, inn the face of so much sex appeal, like the sailors on brave Ulysses' crew, urged to stuff their ears with wax so that they wouldn't hear the sirens' song.

AMAZING.......2007-03-22
For anyone who is an In Flames fan, this is a must own dvd. The sound is great and they play so many great songs. Its a must own.
Great DVD.......2006-12-30
Most old time fans of In Flames ditched the band after Reroute to Remain, which marked a different style for the band. I've heard it referred to as blasphemous, but that's a little harsh. That album was my introduction to IF, and after hearing just the first track, I went and bought the entire Friden catalog (didn't care for the last guy.) The Soundtrack came out, and I didn't really give it a chance. It was really different, really... strange. I just couldn't dig it, but The Quiet Place was great.
This DVD, while showcasing a lot of Soundtrack and the stupid song titles, is a gem amongst live performances. These guys hit these songs almost perfectly, aside from the tone differences on the older songs (from death growl to metalcore scream). But these songs are done amazingly live, with energy and care taken to reproduce the cd versions.
The bonus features are great too, but the Touch of Red video is the stupidest thing I have ever seen.
A different point of view for you..........2006-08-08
Ok, I understand that In Flames fan's taste vary on each album. Even though, I never REALLY got into Soundtrack, I still know how talented they are, and the songs aren't bad, but I like In Flames for their melodeath style material and the fusion before that album. I'm a big fan of everything up to Reroute, I skip Soundtrack due to personal taste, and then the newest album, Come Clarity? A breath of fresh air... Awesome... If u didn't give it a try because of Soundtrack, don't make that mistake! They did great on Come Clarity, it's beautifully brutal. But anyways, the point I'm getting to, is YES, they do the whole Soundtrack album on this, and NO, they did not forget about us die hards for the old material. The first concert is a big set list of songs from all albums, I about died when they covered f*'n hostile in memory of Dimebag, it was awesome. But the second concert has 2 sets, set 1 consists of the entire soundtrack album. Set 2? Is the pot of gold!!! It's a full set of the best songs from each older album, maybe 1-2 songs off of Reroute, but the rest is all the classics. I'm in love with this dvd. Not to mention the sound quality is amazing, the camera angles are great and their performance is stellar! I've seen them live the first time I heard them when they toured with Slayer and Soulfly like 5 years ago right when Reroute came out. They were my fav. ones there, they had energy, adrenaline, and atmosphere... And all that's on here too... Any In Flames fan should own this, fans of new material or old are getting their money's worth. The old songs sound SOOO good with the perfect sound quality. The version of moonshield on this dvd gives me chills everytime I listen to it. Don't pass this one up, BUY IT IN FLAMES FANS!!!
I sure did Used And Abused this DVD.......2006-04-24
...In a good way folks don't worry ^_^
To start off I'd like to say that this is one of the best dvd's I've seen. It has everything you'd ask for.
The setlist is great, the one thing that was awesoem about the 3 setlists is the fact that in the second they play the whole Soundtrack To Your Escape album which is a big plus, It has their videos, behind the scenes footage, and a soundcheck section.
A great DVD in my opinion, wether your just getting into them or you've been a die-hard fan from the beginning any fan of metal would love this DVD. Not to mention, their live performances are great!
Amazing.......2006-03-16
This band is just so amazing I don't know where to start. I have all of their cds, and would like to clear up right now that, even though a lot of you have mixed feelings on theri "newer stuff", i think everything they touch is gold. This is never more aparent then on this DVD. The first live show start's off with one of my fav In Flames fares "Pinball Map" and crunches through some incredibly heavy stuff including a cover of Pantera's "F*cking Hostile" and continues before ending with "My Sweet Shadow" which is off the unpopular STYE album but sends shivers up my spine whenever I hear it. And that's just the first live performance. The second is broken up into 2 sets the first is STYE in its entirity live and the other is older fan favs...BUY THIS DVD IF YOU CALL YOURSELF AN IN FLAMES FAN. "I found a flame in burnt out ashes."

Customer Reviews:
At Least It's Albert King.......2006-03-03
I bought this DVD because I love Albert King. Otherwise I would give it 3 stars. It's short - about 1 hour - and he's only playing for about 40 minutes. I don't know why the band does a long version of Summertime without him at all. And the interviews, while good, make the DVD a little disjointed. But when you consider the rarity of King's videos, and who is playing, it's still worth buying if you are into the blues. The guy is as good a blue guitarist as anyone, ever. I have already watched it about four times since I got it ten days ago! I only hope there's more footage of him somewhere so more DVD's, preferably longer, can be produced. THIS IS BLUES POWER!!
A poor epitaph for a real King of the Blues.......2005-04-03
I have been a long time fan of Albert from the late 1960s post release of his Filmore Live wire/Blues Power set; have all his CDs and been fortunate enough to see him perform live before his death. Sadly, this hacked DVD of a Swedish TV live show including an interview is a big disappointment and not the man at his best.
1. The show has been edited around (as evidenced by Albert's state of dress and level of sweat) so is not the original running order it seems.
2. The highspots are when Albert lets fly on his solos (his fingering and left handed style caught very well on camera) but his West Coast support band is at best perfunctory and a second guitarist who is sadly not in his league which waters down the intensity of the show - highspots are "Born under a Bad Sign" and the Elmore Jame song "The sky is crying" and the first interview when he covers his early days of struggle pre-Stax success.
3. Lowspots are the band's (without Albert) rendition of Summertime and the final track overlapped with a second interview, plus the overall set listing is not all of Albert's best.
While one suspects Albert's video recording legacy is not great one hopes that better examples of this great bluesman can be traced and released (rumours his CD released Montreux shows were videotaped abound and paired with his Wattstax show would be a killer DVD).
A nice package..........2005-04-02
...not in the same class as some of some new productions (such as some of Santana recent video) but of its time it is excellent. There are a good collection of absolute classic blues tracks (Born Under a Bad sign, the Sky is Crying, etc.). Some nice interview moments, and the interviewer really let Albert talk. It was quite touching he seemed to be quite vulnerable, while also being layed back (smoking his pipe) and strong/masculine. He was very modest & understated -- but make no mistake, this former bulldozer driver's contribution to music is immense; this is where Eric Clapton & Cream (& thence Eddie Van Halen, etc.), Gary Moore & Stevie Ray Vaughn come for their inspiration and their licks!
The only odd moment is when the band play and jam over Summertime -- perhap while Albert took a break?
I am still scratching my head after watching Albert play though ... his V-shaped guitar, Lucy, strung normally but played left handed (I heard he also tune down a tone & a half to C#!). I don't expect that I will try that but it certainly works for him. His howling, soulful bends are very ...satisfying. Perhaps some of his feel is due to the fact that he played drums before guitar (like several other notable guitarists, such as Thin Lizzy guitarist Brian Robertson & Foo Fighter's Dave Grohl).
ALBERT'S FANS: DONT MISS THIS TREASURE !!!.......2004-03-05
I CALL MYSELF ONE OF THE MOST CRAZIEST ALBERT KING FAN WORLDWIDE.
AS A COLLECTOR AND ONE OF THE FOUNDERS OF THE ALBERT KING TRIBUTE BAND IN ARGENTINA , THE FACT TO HAVE THE CHANCE TO GET THIS NEW DVD IS A MIRACLE.
NOT JUST ABOUT THE QUALITY, WICH IS GREATE IN IMAGE AND SOUND.
IT'S A REAL TREASURE TO HEAR ALBERT SO CLOSE IN THE INTERVIEW, UNGRY WITH THA BAND IN SOME MISTAKES ON STAGE, AND SINGING "THE VERY THOUGHT OF YOU" BETTER THAN OTHERS VHS TAKEN.
TO TRUE ALBERT'S FANS: DONT MISS THIS CHANCE, TO MEET A DIFERENT ALBERT THAT WE NEVER SAW IN OTHERS FILMS.
LONG LIVE ALBERT KING
GUS
Limited, but Essesntial.......2004-02-27
Well it is absolutely about darn time a DVD was released dealing exclusively with the single greatest and most influential Blues guitarist of all time. This DVD certainly has its limitations. It was filmed in 1980 and the wonders of technology haven't done much to improve the audio or visual quality. It is also disappointingly skimpy. Just fifty-eight minutes and that includes pieces of an interview. When I saw the track listing, I was thrilled to see "Summertime". I could hear King's haunting guitar on the standard, and my mouth began to water. Unfortunately, Albert sat this one out, and it is just his band doing a nice, but predictable Jazz version.
Imperfections aside, if you know Albert King's work, you are invariably a fan, and so this DVD is an essential buy. There's plenty of good camera work showing King's giant paws working the frets and choking the you know what out of Lucy, the Gibson Flying V guitar that Albert calls, "My honey". We hear his signature tune "Born Under a Bad Sign" (I still haven't heard a version that wasn't just a little better than decent without King's Stax Records compadres Booker T. & the MGs backing him up) and the standard "The Very Thought of You", which shows that the deep voiced Blues giant was also one heck of a soulful singer, and that though Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughn could almost match his power, they never came close to his tastefulness and touch.
King definitely provides great highlights, not only with his playing, but with his always perfectly timed "Woooooooos!" and "Yeahhhhs!". Those moments are great examples of Albert King style Blues. Orgasmic bursts of joy that could instantly cure the bluest man's blues.
Usually depicted as a gruff giant, King comes across more as a lovable teddy bear in the snippets of the interview. I found him to be truly endearing as he chuckles at things he just said. The interview, though pretty skimpy as well, and also the closing number make everything worth while. He does a wonderful version of "As the Years Go Passing By". And as they pass on by, the world will never see his equal. Every year I hear of a new guy on the scene who is being hailed as the heir apparent, but there will never be another Albert King.

there is simply no point to this film........2007-03-09
Well I am certainly a huge fan of ABBA and even more so I was in Australia in the 70s and I was right in the middle of abbamania downunder and there was so much television footage shot on the band both in 1976 and in 1977 for the tour and movie of course, there is no footage used here from the Australian visits at all and there is much footage that should have been included. This piece of tripe seems to me to just be a complete waste of time and even the hard core fan (me being one of them ) would be bored, I kept thinking, what is the point of this film, its just ranting for ranting sake. My advice dont bother.
"What a disappointment".......2007-03-08
My father bought this DVD and said that it is 75% commentary and critical review and only 25% music.
While the person was talking, the music was playing in the background but you can hardly hear it.
He really wanted to hear music and see a performance but got too much talking. He's not a new fan of Abba. He owns four other DVDs and some CDs and he enjoys all of them.
For a DVD at this price, it isn't worth it.

Finally... This is what I've been waiting for!.......2006-01-14
I've anticipated an In Flames DVD for a very long time now. So when news reached my ears that they were releasing a DVD with not one but TWO live performances, included with a behind-the-scenes interview, I was ecstatic. "Used and Abused: In Live We Trust" arrived to me on Christmas morning, and I can say that my patience paid off.
I'll start by reviewing the Hammersmith show, though I won't be doing it song by song.
The set list is great here, equally spanning the old and new material. Anders & Co. storm the stage by opening with the classic "Pinball Map". The band's stage presence is exhilerating, even though Jesper doesn't move that much. The opener comes complete with pyro, the audience chanting the chorus, and an amazing sound mix. Moving on without tiring, In Flames pay their own special tribute to Dimebag Darrell by doing a ferocious cover of "F***in' Hostile" and picking up right into an ultra-melodic, breakneck rendition of "Behind Space". The crowd response is unbelievable here on thrashers like "In Search for I" and "Touch of Red", and the pyro, though used sparingly, adds a breathtaking touch to the show. (I get chills when they come in with the last chorus on "My Sweet Shadow".) Soundwise, the band couldn't be tighter. Jesper's and Bjorn's guitar harmonies are meticulously crafted, and played without mar or flaw. Daniel's drums sound amazing here, and his live performance, I thought, was underestimated. (It's odd how much he truly adds to In Flames for being such a simple drummer.) An awesome show, although a bit on the short side. (Only 40 minutes!)
Sticky Fingers:
There are two parts to this 90-minute show. Set I consists of the boys storming through the whole "Soundtrack to Your Escape" album. It's interesting to see how the album comes out live. It seems to have an added level of aggression, especially on bottom-heavy riff monsters like "Touch of Red" and the straightforward but catchy "Dial 595-Escape". Moreover, Anders' clean vocals seem stronger live than on the album. (See "The Quiet Place" for the best example.) Although the place of the show is small, (I believe Anders said it's only a 250-person club.) crowd reception and participation rivals, maybe even exceeds that of the Hammersmith show. The highlights on Set I include, "F(r)iend", "Dial 595- Escape", and "In Search for I". (Kudos to Daniel for awesome drumming on that track!)
Set II spans old and new material. The guys open up with the melodic thrash attack of "Behind Space", followed by two absolutely classic songs from The Jester Race! Needless to say, it was amazing to hear these songs played in the modern In Flames style. My favorite part of this concert is hearing two of my favorite In Flames songs from the Whoracle album, with an added bite and edge. ("Jotun" sounds absolutely unbelievable here...) The songs from "Reroute to Remain" sound pretty good as well, but I believe they sounded fuller on the Hammersmith show. The Sticky Fingers is definitely exhilerating, and the best show of the DVD, in my opinion.
There are also two songs taken from the Soundtrack to Your Escape tour, "Only for the Weak" and "Clayman". Both of these classic songs sound absolutely amazing, and you'll get chills when you hear "Only for the Weak". The lights and pyro on this mini-show are amazing.
And now for DVD 2...
This second disc contains a 50-minute special named "Jester TV", which gives the fan a detailed account of the past year for the band. It shows the making of the videos for "Touch of Red" and "The Quiet Place", and very detailed accounts of the band's tours in Japan, Australia, and the US, and there are in-depth interviews with all of the bandmembers. Also covered in this special is the Madrid show, when In Flames opened for Metallica.
The next part of the disc consists of music videos. It includes all the videos from STYE, including an extended edition of "Touch of Red", and an "uncut" version of "The Quiet Place". Other videos include "System", "F(r)iend", "My Sweet Shadow", and "Dial 595-Escape" live from Japan.
Lastly is the soundcheck chapter. It's a bit useless, but still cool. Here the band go through "Touch of Red" and "Dial 595-Escape".
So, there ya go. A highly reccommended DVD to old and new fans of In Flames, and an abosolutely incredible collection of live shows.
Note: Hehe, just thought I would tell you about the "hidden" videos on the DVD's. On Disc 1, use your remote to jump to the 4th title, Chapter 1, to see a live version of "Episode 666" at the Sticky Fingers show.
On Disc 2, jump to Title 8 (out of 10), chapter 1, to see a hidden music video for "Borders and Shading".
This set kicks butt!.......2005-12-24
This is an awesome DVD / CD set that In Flames have put out - I especially like the contrast between the big show at the Hammersmith in London and the small club gig. On the second disc there are some videos and backstage stuff, and to top it off CDs of the shows that are on the first DVD.
To be honest, I don't really care much for the CDs but the DVDs rock so hard it doesn't matter! In Flames are one of those bands that just seem a step up from everyone else and this set proves it.
Great 1st DVD for In Flames.......2005-11-14
"In Live We Trust" is one of the best metal live performance DVDs that I've seen (the best being Slayer's "War at the Warfield"). The band's concert performances are truly amazing in front of both large and small crowds. While all of the concerts on this DVD show that In Flames put a lot of effort into proving a great performance, the footage shot in front of bigger crowds in London and Gothenburg also document the amazing response from the crowd. You need look no further than "Only for the Weak" in the "Soundtrack" tour section to see what I mean. Ander's on-stage energy level reminds me of Sammy Hagar when he was younger, and the overall musical performance by the band is basically flawless. The video and audio quality are excellent, and I only wish that the live material would be released as a CD so that I could listen to it more often.
The 2nd disk contains videos and some backstage footage which isn't near as good as the behind the scenes parts of other DVDs such as "Killadephia" from Lamb of God (also great, by the way). However, the real reason to get "In Live We Trust" is for the live performances.
The essential In Flames live experience.......2005-11-12
Ok, this DVD is absolutely one of the best gifts a band could give its fanbase. Two live concerts, an hour of behind the scenes, seven music videos, equal time given to the old classics... and above all, the production is beyond stellar. Pump it through your stereo, and you have maybe the best live recording since Metallica's Seattle '89.
The guitars, bass, and drums are perfectly synchronized and rich... the atmospherics are the same as the album recordings, and really put a polish on these songs. There are even some new slants... Touch of Red has a new minor chord tuning that makes it almost a horror track... fabulous.
But what must be said, above all, is how fantastic Anders' vocal performance is here. You may not realize from the past two studio albums, but his evolution has been phenomenal (and vital, after lackluster performances on Clayman and the first live cd, Tokyo Showdown). His pitch is perfect, delivery good and throaty... not only is he hitting the high stuff fine, he brings in a never-before-heard death growl reminiscent of Dark Tranquility (check out In Search For I). After this performance, he has to be ranked as one of the best heavy vocalists out there, which I would have considered dubious before this purchase.
Two tracks make this DVD/CD a cannot-miss for the In Flames fan... their cover of F Hostile, which makes me go apes**t every time I hear it... and their rendition of Only For The Weak, which I considered a failed track on Clayman... here Anders sings it straight up, and people, this track is a classic, almost heartbreaking it's so good. You might as well get the CD version too, because you're going to have this track at the top of your collection.
A well-deserved five stars. Couldn't ask for anything more, it is honestly all here.
AMAZING.......2005-11-11
