INXS fans can rejoice over the release of this buoyant concert film, shot during an ecstatic performance before 72,000 hopping fans in London's Wembley Stadium on July 13, 1991. The Australian band's vocalist, the late Michael Hutchence, is at his feral-romantic best, stalking and swiveling his way through an energized set of welterweight pop. The show starts with a big, boomy "Guns in the Sky," takes a turn toward unexpected soulfulness with "New Sensation," and spreads the wealth with a sharp set of ballads and rockers. Hutchence has fun with a naughty "Know the Difference," plays around with a Jagger-esque take on confessional soul in "The Loved One," and milks "Never Tear Us Apart" for all it's worth. The band sounds more muscular than they did in the studio, hard-charging and rough on "Suicide Blonde," drunk on a jazzy guitar hook in "Need You Tonight," and completely danceable on "Bitter Tears." --Tom Keogh

Customer Reviews:
Great show.......2007-04-29
Drags on a little bit towards the end, but such a great show.
The Peak.......2007-03-30
This concert recorded live during the summer of 1991 at London's Wembley stadium showcases Australian rockers INXS as they end their world tour in support of their X album. The fans are more than motivated as they jump and move with each song, and the band includes every hit within the set list. Michael Hutchence sings passionately with the dynamic stage energy he made famous. Though Hutchence is sadly no longer alive and while INXS never matched the level of success they once had after this time had passed, their memory as a band with a keen pop sensibility fashioned by a rock style will never be erased.
Very entertaining.......2007-02-15
I've always been familiar with the music of INXS, but not to the extent of knowing all the band members names and I've become the owner of some of their material only within the past 2 years, with this DVD being one of them. I now know all of the members names and I've thoroughly enjoyed the charisma found in Micheal Hutchence's performances. "Live Baby Live" is awesome and well worth the money. This Wembley concert was recorded in DTS and all of the best songs are here, including "The Stairs". The backstage footage is also very entertaining, as well as the interviews with the Farriss brothers, Garry Beers and Kirk Pengilly. Be good to yourself and instead of buying candy to eat, buy some candy for the ears and eyes. You will not regret it! Take care of it like I do all my CD's and DVD's and it will last for years.
INXS rock Wembley.......2007-01-04
This edition, in addition to the concert, has an incredible sound-mix and two documentaries based around the day - one is very insightful and quite touching in places, the second appears to have been recorded onto VHS from the TV and, whilst the quality is poor, it does have some interesting tidbits.
The concert itself is well filmed and really captures the spirit of the day (I was lucky enough to be in the audience and loved the concert then and now).
As concert films go, this is one of the best I've ever seen. As a document of INXS as a live band, this is an essential purchase.
Excellent.
Classic band, classic DVD.......2007-01-03
The consummate live band, these guys could put on a show, and the DVD proves it.
