As Carole King herself puts it during this concert performance in Hartford, Connecticut, the tunes on this video will represent either a trip down memory lane for the viewer--or a music-history lesson. King includes a couple of unfamiliar songs (from her then-new 1993 album, Colour of Your Dreams), but devotes most of this 85-minute set to the hits and highlights of her career, with a large, energetic band and backup singers (including her daughter). Those include such early song-writing successes as "One Fine Day," "Up on the Roof," and "Natural Woman," as well as the still-classic tunes from her ground-breaking Tapestry album: "So Far Away," "Will You Love Me Tomorrow?", "It's Too Late," and "You've Got a Friend." King herself is frisky as a pony, working the stage with the flair of Tina Turner and even bringing out unlikely guest-star guitarist Slash to provide chunky, chugging guitar on "Locomotion." --Marshall Fine

5 out of 5 stars Shes still got it.............2007-04-14

Just rented this movie, was curious to see her live, my sister is a huge fan. I liked this DVD, not only did she still look great back then, her voice hasnt changed that much from the 70s. I was surprised to see Slash in this show, (strange pairing) but he does rock the house with his blistering solos. Love the oldies more than the new stuff but thats me...great show even though its over 10 years old.

5 out of 5 stars Carole King A National Treasure.......2006-08-13

There is something special about watching this concert and watching Carole King perform songs many of which are the soundtrack of my life. As I was growing up the songs she wrote with Gerry Goffin were all over the radio. She puts everything she has into the performance and there are no gimicks, it's all about the music. Incredible energy yet Carole never seems to break a sweat. I'm in awe of her songwriting ability, how she can create words and music that can lift you up or get right to your soul. She does it all so modestly and with such class. I would say this 1994 concert shows Carole at the top of her form but then I haven't seen her in concert lately! Just think of it 1994 was 23 years after her mega LP Tapestry and 34 years after she started writing songs. She nails every note in the music with ease!

I would have liked it better if she had talked a little more about the music or whatever but that's just me. It's a great concert and a welcome addition to my video library.

This CD was great! It featured many of Carole King's greatest songs. My only negative comment would be that it didn't include ALL of Ms. King's hits from Tapestry. For example if you are a fan of "Way Over Yonder", you won't find it on this DVD. However, all fans of Carole King's should find that this DVD is very enjoyable.

5 out of 5 stars Carole King At Her Best!!.......2005-03-20

I've been a Carole King fan since the 60's. Finally I bought this DVD and my only complaint is that it is not longer.
Carole is in fine form, singing most of her hits which form just a small part of her compositions. Her performance generates an enthusiasm that is contagious. The orchestra is in top form.
I can't wait for another performance by Carole to come out!

5 out of 5 stars The Queen of Rock & Roll.......2004-10-20

Be ready for nearly two hours of fun that's full of energy. This event was a well produced PBS fund raiser. Fortunately on DVD and 5.1 surround sound (as opposed to the initial broadcast) the viewer becomes one of the audience for a true legend of the 1960's & 70's and is still pouring her heart into every lyric and note thus delivering it like a fine aged wine....
