Dont take me wrong I do love Mariah but this movie is not making any sense to me I mean Mariah doesnt seem very interest to "play" in this movie!!! This movie is all about music music music music music repeating over and over again nothing new nothing has been changed... come on!!! but then Mariah seem to be better in another movie called Wisegirls but again I honestly dont think that Mariah should be an actress herself I mean I think she is better off to be a singer instead of playing movies. Wisegirls she seem like she wanted to have the "attention" and "show-off" like saying in her mind: "Look at me I am in the movie!" I honestly deep in my heart she dont need to be playing in any movies unless she stands up and do her "work" with her actions in the movies not like this and Wisegirls movies. I feel bad for giving this movie a 1 star but I had to say what's my opinion about this movie anyways. Wisegirls was alittle better than this one!!

A Movie Lost In The Midst of Bad P.R. and Tragedy.......2007-02-07

I assure you that this movie is not the worst thing ever created on film like people tried to make it out to be. If Mariah didn't have a meltdown and 9/11 didn't happen then I honestly believe that this movie would have been a moderate success. Not a blockbuster or Oscar contender but enjoyable. The script in this movie sucked. Mariah had her few moments when she showed she could act but I admit there are quite more than a few flaws to this movie. I grew up in the 80's so I could identify where Glitter was trying to take us. The younger generation (preteens-teens) might not understand the 80's as well as thirty-somethings would. After all the flaws of Glitter I do accept it for what it is, a story of a young talented lady trying to make it in the music biz and getting pulled into several different directions at the same time. And yes the the soundtrack is so cool and Mariah still sings her heart out in this one. I mean come on how could anyone not identify with the song "Reflections"? Please give this movie a chance and buy the soundtrack too.

A good movie that got a bad rap..........2007-01-17

...because of when it was released! The movie was released the Friday after 09/11/2001. Because of that incident, no one was going to anything that week. Especially places where large numbers of people were gathered. We were all tuned into our television sets trying to find out what was going on in New York. This movie comes out that Friday and is lost. Critics pan it and it fades into oblivion. The movie isn't that bad! I've seen much worse on the big screen---and these were hits. I think the timing was just bad for this movie. And it didn't help that it was set in the decade of decadence and excess (the 80's) in New York. Who wanted to see NYC like that on the big screen after the devastation of 9/11? We were greiving for NYC at that time. We surely didn't care that Mariah Carey had a movie coming out. I suggest you give this movie a try. It's not a masterpeice by any stretch of the imagination, but it's fun to watch. Besides the music is hot, it's retro, and it gives us some insight into the workings of the music biz.

An appropriate and well-performed tribute........2004-12-03

I'm a New Yorker who witnessed the 9/11 attacks first-hand, and experienced the aftermath. I watched this tribute live when it first aired and I felt at that time that it was very respectfully produced, with some standout performances and very little in the way of "marketing" or promotion going on from any of the performers (with a few exceptions), as there so often is in these kinds of compilations.

The performance I remember most is actually U2's rendition of "Peace On Earth/Walk On", at which point during the live telecast I admit that I completely lost it. There were other moving performances but this is the one that affected me, and the one that I remember - not only is the version on this DVD better than what was recorded on their CD "All That You Can't Leave Behind", the lyrics summed up the whole experience perfectly for me, and it was obvious that U2 as a band was deeply moved by the experience themselves. The montage set to their song "One" also greatly affected me, although this was not a live performance.

As a tribute, this is probably the best that anyone could have done - the music is varied and the performances generally very good, and the tone is right given how close it was to 9/11. For me, it's a must-have reminder of that day, as I consider it part of my experience of going through 9/11's aftermath. It was a terrible tragedy but it's not one that we should forget.

Although this DVD is almost two hours long, it seems to end too fast.

An all star cast of celebrities weave stories which capture the tragedy, courage & heroism of September 11, 2001 in between a number of great musical performances. Although it's presented in a telethon format, this is a very touching concert and tribute.

The brief stories, which are both tragic and inspirational will bring tears to your eyes while the musical performances are delivered with a somber intensity which vividly captures the essence of the mood of America during this very difficult time.

The musical performances are just awesome. Most of the artists reworked their songs just for this telethon and the result is a creatively touching musical tribute.

Extremely moving.......2004-09-11

As a 34 year old man, there will never be (God willing) a more significant, historical event to ever take place in my lifetime, than the events of 9/11. A couple of weeks after that tragic day took place, the telethon broadcast took place. It was carried on many, many channels and surely, the vast majority of Americans watched the program, and contributed to the fund. I cried and cried, as did my wife. While all segments were moving, the images I will always remember were those of Neil Young playing "Imagine" (which sparked a true, sincere spirit of an eagerness for peace everywhere), Tom Petty singing "I Won't Back Down" (which the title alone speaks volumes about this moment), and Julia Roberts honest, warm message prior to introducing an act. Thank you George Clooney for organizing such an amazing, historical event.

Beyond stunning.......2004-09-07

I saw this telecast live, and was literally stunned. There were performances that I really got into, some that were awesome, and a few that didn't do much for me. But the music was the secondary part of this performance, really. The sheer depth of emotion shown by the speakers made it very clear that this was NOT just a commercial extravaganza.

Most potent of all was Clint Eastwood - he literally sent chills thru me. He is never a glib guy, and is always in control, but he wore his emotions all over this night. From his "Unforgiven" coat to his words. Especially his words. He almost rambled, almost babbled from the overpowering rage he felt. Sheer, utter emotional honesty.

This DVD is beyond compare.

I just recieved my copy today and i already watched this DVD 4 times. Its for anyone that loves REAL hip hop music. The Bachelor got critically slammed when it played in theaters, probably because reviewers couldn't help comparing it with the movie on which it's based, the brilliant Buster Keaton comedy Seven Chances. But on its own terms, The Bachelor is a modest and enjoyable picture about Jimmie (Chris O'Donnell), a happily single young man who suddenly gets an ultimatum from his grandfather's will: marry by his 30th birthday or lose an inheritance of $100 million. This is revealed the day before that very birthday. Unfortunately, Jimmie had already proposed to his girlfriend Anne (Renee Zellweger) and been turned down; she can see in his eyes that he isn't ready to get married and refuses to accept him until he is. So Jimmie needs to find a bride--fast. Though the commitment-shy man is a hoary cliché, The Bachelor successfully exaggerates Jimmie's fears to comic proportions. O'Donnell is his usual affable self, but it's Zellweger who seizes every scene she's in and makes something really enjoyable out it. The movie's greatest weakness is that she's such a small part of the second half. Still, there's good supporting performances from Hal Holbrook, Ed Asner, James Cromwell, and Marley Shelton (as Zellweger's sister), and Peter Ustinov and Brooke Shields both have very funny scenes. The Bachelor skirts some dangerously chauvinistic territory at times, but by and large it's a pleasant comedy with some genuine good humor. --Bret Fetzer

Other critics beat this movie down but I saw part of it on Comedy Central and was glad that others had given it bad reviews. It made the price lower. It wasn't as if the producer's were trying to re-create some great work of literature to film. I think they were trying to make a romantic funny movie that entertains and I think they hit their mark.

This is just an extended version of The Three Stooges short "Brideless Groom" in which Shemp stood to inherit $500,000.00 if he got married within 7 hours. A clear indication that Hollywood has long past run out of ideas.

'Politically Correct or Not?".......2006-11-06

I first saw this movie on tv last month and I absolutely fell in love with it! Now you ladies out there might not agree with the plot but let's face it ladies, it's true how men feel about being 'roped' into marriage! For those of you who have hit the internet date/chat rooms, read the profiles of women from around the world and you will see what they seek in a marriage! A lot of profiles read 'Seeking Prince to marry a Princess' or other such lines! Since the introduction of the PC/WWW, I have done a lot of research on women profiles and I still to this date still see such pickup lines! (Fairytale or Not?)....

The story: a confirmed bachelor has a choice between marrying the pig he is currently dating or not. His uncle dies and gives him an ultimatum and a time-limit: marry or lose a fortune. Bachelor looks up every girl he was ever involved with. Too late. They're taken now. He should have married them when he had the chance. He marries the pig.

Funny. Ha. Ha. The only bit of amusement is a few minutes of Peter Ustinov as the uncle. Those who watch this will get what they deserve.

Nothing to write home about, but fun and zany........2005-10-28

Ok, the premise of the movie is pretty canned, and some ideas/montages downright dumb or silly, but the overall
presentation is a bit out of the box and humorous. The movie
moves at a brisk pace, and uses and lambasts a lot of cliches about marriage. One would think the comedy would be predictable, but it manages to create an off-beat edge that tickles. Supporting characters, including the older actors,
keep things diverse or outright wacky. Zellweger brings a pouting charm while O'Donnell is pure naivety and his fat side-kick delivers some good laughs. Again, the movie is a success on it's own terms because of the brisk pace that stays consistently outrageous and doesn't get stuck in any plodding emotional exposition, sentimentality, or melodrama. Fun flick.

Lovely Mariah.......2006-06-30

1) Vision of Love- pretty good live performance, her vocals are top-notch. I still wish we had the video.
2) Love Takes Time- another good live performance, I like the beginning of it.
3) Someday- very enthusiastic live performance, probably my favorite "live video" on here. It's from the Unplugged segement and Mariah really lets loose.
4)I Don't Wanna Cry- first true video on here. Mariah sits in the corner of the room staring at her soon-to-be ex. It's not the most exciting video, but the guy in it is cute.
5) Emotions- love this video. Mariah riding in a car, and partying with friends. There's some goofy dancing and weird color-tinted cineomotography, but's it's fun.
6) I'll Be There- not too crazy about this live video, but Trye Lorenz is amazing.
7) Dreamlover- my favorite Mariah video. It's so happy and fun. This is the Mariah I love. She should never have changed her image from this. LOve the outdoorsy feel.
8) Hero- very differrent from the album version, her voice is powerhouse here.
9)Fantasy (Remix)- I like this video, but it's a tad boring. Nothing really happens, except she rides a roller coaster.
11) One Sweet Day- just footage from the recording studio. Nothing great.
12) Always Be My Baby- love this video. Another "outdoosy" video, and I love the tire swing. Very cute.
13) Honey- ewww, no. The "new Mariah". Too James Bond-esque for me, and I hate the song anyway.
14) My All- very dark, mysterious video. THe guy in it is hott.
15) Heartbreaker- cute movie-studio video, and the catfight was great.

This is a great collection but it could have had a little more to offer. I enjoy the live performances of Vision of Love, Love Takes Time, and Someday but they should have also included the official videos for those songs since they were only previously available on vhs format. I am glad to see Mariah commenting on each song and video. I wish the remix videos were also available that would be cute.

I wouldn't give the 5-star so easily, but it cannot be denied that this is one of my favorite DVDs. Yes, it was "cut" -- not a complete continuous concert -- but that takes nothing from it.

I was impressed -- yes impressed -- by Mariah's lack of showmanship. It isolated her talent, which is her incredible voice (along with some great songwriting). It made me appreciate the later CD, The Education of Mimi even more. What a difference between the singsong stuff on this DVD, versus the bold stuff on Mimi. When do we get a more recent concert, Mimi??? I'll buy it!

Additionally, for those of you with kids, this is a completely family-friendly DVD, including the "Camp Mariah" segment. Mom, Dad and kids can sit in the living room on a Saturday night and enjoy the heck out of this DVD. The part where Mariah enters stage-left during One Sweet Day is an inspiring moment.

Buy it. I'm a "Mimi" fan for life.

I liked this concert, but I was still a little disappointed. Matiah's vocals were top-notch, but I wished she moved around the stage a little more. She just stood still on the stage in a lot of the songs, which got a little boring. Also, the setlist was too ballad-heavy. There should of been more up-tempo tracks. I liked the two bonus videos a lot, and I enjoyed the little interview snippets we got.

What is Sony thinking? They release a great concert on dvd and don't even think about how the audio feature should sound. No 5.1 here!!!! That is some cheap crap for a great performer who made Sony hundreds of millions in the 90's. The picture comes is great but you better turn your system up very high to capture the greatness of Mariah's voice. Hopefully Island Def Jam won't be so cheap when they release The Adventures of Mimi Tour on Dvd this holiday season. (I don't even know if they are releasing it on dvd just wishful thinking)

PROS:
- The videos to "Butterfly", "Breakdown", and "The Roof" can't be found anywhere else, and they're excellent videos.
- The performance of "Fantasy" is great, love the chair theme.
- It's nice to see behind-the-scenes Mariah. After viewing this, I really did feel I knew her a little better.
- The conversation with Brenda K. Starr was interesting

CONS-
- Horrible editing of performances. "Hopelessly Devoted to You" was so short, and I really wanted to see that one.
-I felt Mariah could of stretched herself vocally more in performances. Her live singing here pales in comparison to "MTV Unplugged" and "Here is Mariah Carey"
-The songlist was disappointing. Where is "Vision of Love"? And "Make It Happen"? And why couldn't she have sung the entire "Butterfly" instead of the little teaser intro.
- The scenes of her swimming with dolphins and hanging out with Bing and Bong (the puppies) were actually longer than some of her performances!

We did when we bought all those Mariah albums. I think we deserve better when it comes to Mariah performances on Dvd. I mean they still haven't released The First Vision on dvd yet I don't think they ever will. This concert has so much bad editing. Let her sing one song all the way through at least once. The only reason I gave this dvd five stars is because of the exclusive music videos. The Roof and Breakdown are classic. Swimming with the dolphins was also very cute.

1.As a Mimi fan, this DVD show bad perfomences of her (with Olivia NJ very bad video) its obvious she has much better perfomences aruond the world.
2.the vidios are cut in the muddle
3.some vidios are changed in the middle to another performences - how can i enjoy half a show?? its wired and dissaponting to see that.
4.I saw much better performences on internet sites and I am sad to waist 13$ on a bad DVD like this one.
5.I also orderd Medison Squere Garden DVD and he was amazing! so I have a way to compere between a good DVD and a bad one.

I just finished watching this and would agree with a couple of previous reviewers. First of all the concert portion (only 45 mins) to me was disappointing. I've seen her in concert and that was WAY better than this presentation. Not to dis Mariah but what was up with your hair in most of it?!? Her hair was like a cavewoman. There is an invention and it's called a brush. Terrible job by the stylists on that as well as some of her wardrobe choices. I agree with the horrible editing others of stated. Some of the audio as well is also disappointing. I hear some odd crowd noises at times when I should be hearing Mariah. Also this is hardly around the world, seems most of it focused on Australia, Japan, and New York. There were too many "fluff" pieces that could have added up to more actually singing performances which is what I paid for. I don't really care for her dogs, swimming with dolphins, etc. Just sing and dance baby. Highlights for me were Fantasy, Whenever you call, Honey, the videos of The Roof, My All, and especially one of my favorites--Breakdown saved this DVD. I hope she releases a better DVD like a compilation of her full concerts (like 2 hrs) and videos--(I can't find that Sweetheart video which has been absent from any DVD thus far). They need to do a presentation along the lines of Janet Jackson's concert DVDs. I would instead of this DVD recommend another called Mariah's #1's.

1. she sings live OK. i was there at the concert when it happened. and i know it live NOT fake. so don't show your waste brain and told everyone else it fake.
2. even if it called " Around the world " .it doesn't mean she gotta go to every country,does it. NOBODY EVER GO TO EVERY COUNTRY even YOUR GRANDMOM and GRANDPA.

This was Mariah in one of her finest moments. She got a lot of criticism for not touring for her first album like everybody else. Well, she sure showed them that she does know how to put on a great show. Every performance in this video was just of such perfection but "Can't Let Go" was my personal favorite. If you're a big Mariah fan, this is one video you have got to add to your collection. And if you're not a fan, you would be doing yourself a favor when you buy this one because you will surely become one. This gem is definitely a MUST-BUY!

I'm grateful for the re-release of this concert because I can only remember half paying attention to it when it aired on network television. By now everyone has formed their own opinion about Mariah - but this show portrayed her as a sugary sweet Cinderella type with an undeniably powerful voice!

I enjoyed some of the behind the scenes chats with her mom, the band & back-up singers but really bought this disc for the fantastic concert footage. It was so good to see early Mariah in concert and to see her truly enjoying herself in the behind the scenes footage - she seemed a little more open and less guarded than she appears in interviews today.

My favorite performances are: HERO, VISION OF LOVE & WITHOUT YOU. I'd highly recommend this disc to fans who didn't tape this show and to those who may be curious to see Mariah at the beginning of her career.

This is a pretty good collection of some of Mariah Carey's officially unreleased film clips. These include "When you Believe", "My All (Stay A While"), "Whenever you Call" and "All I Want for Christmas is You". Some of the film clips are slightly damaged, however, the person who had originally taped these film clips from TV has done their best to maitain the quality of the film clips.

This is a MUST for any huge Mariah Carey fan! I know I enjoyed it!

well, it was okay. the video's weren't quite clear but i have to say that it is a good collection to have of mariah's video's. the disc was messing up in some parts and the view wasn't clear...the views was also unstable. i love her videos though. i was kinda dissappointed not because of the videos but the way it was made. it is boot-leg (fake production) unauthorized!

I give this disk 2 stars because there appears to be some previously unreleased material here.

From what I can gather on the web this appears to be partially a rehash of previously released videos. Fans will probably never be rewarded with the complete unabridged catalogue of Mariah's videos in any coherant package.
