This is an amazing DVD. And it's only $[...], talk about a steal.

One of my favorite parts is Rick Petrone's bass solo on La Fiesta. As I was growing up Rick was one of my musical mentors, I guess you could say. He directed lots of bands that I was in. He is truly an amazing musician and he proves it on this DVD. And if you have the chance to see him, check him out because he's still an amazing player today. Of course, besides amazing bass playing, there's amazing trumpet playing (as one would expect from Maynard). He's incredible, you just have to watch the DVD to understand.

I Highly recommend this DVD for anyone interested in Jazz. (which should be everyone :-)

Nice Flashback in Time.......2006-07-09

What a gift to see Maynard Ferguson back in the haydays. I saw Maynard in concert about a year ago, and watching him on this DVD really shows how powerful he still is today. This DVD is a classic for any Maynard Ferguson fan. It's a must have.

"Live At The Top" 1975.......2006-03-13

Maynard Ferguson Live At The Top is the better of the many concert films of MF from the 1970's. "Live At The Forum", Live At Knott's Berry Farm (The Wagon Camp), and the other scant appearences did not capture MF's raw screaming jazz group as well as this one did. Especially the very young Lyn Nicholson! This one burns!!! especially the cut "La Fiesta". The Chameleon band at it's best. Although, I was dissapointed that he didn't release his rare film of the Chameleon band playing Elton John's "Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me."

I am a big Maynard fan, since I first heard the MF Horn album in 1972. This DVD is an excellent performance by Maynard and his band.The quality of the video is excellent, with the sound quality being very good, but a bit dry(not enough reverb). I only wished that the video could have been a bit longer.

Time Capsule.......2005-12-25

As a young admirer of MF's trumpet playing, it has been years since my ears have listened to his music. This performance, culled from a public television special, is truly a special one, although it is marred by low video and audio quality. Yet the mix balance is perfect, and the fact that this has been preserved for eternity is a bonus for true fans of the horn and of the man. The performances are astounding, and the selection covers a few favorites such as MacArthur Park and Gospel John.
