If you think for a moment women can't rock then watch this DVD. Beth Hart has all the grit and soul of the late Janis Joplin and Robert Plant without ever sounding as though she is trying to imitate them. Her voice is her own and it is one very impressive instrument. Her repetoire runs the gamut from blues to gut bucket rock. She easily stands shoulder to shoulder with any male singer without ever losing her femininity. Add to that a tight, rocking band that is just having a ball and you've got one hell of a combo.

Beth extols her love of Speed Metal bands during her concert and I have to say that this is one HM singer that would have loved an opportunity to stand next to her and belt out a few tunes. If you don't think girls can rock then check out Beth's covers of Zep's "Whole Lotta Love" and Humble Pie's "I Don't Need No Doctor". Her own tunes are great and are never overshadowed by these perennial favourites.

Her slower, more soulful tunes never lose the intensity she is able to build during more raucous numbers. Quite the opposite, when she settles down at her piano alone her soul pours out with every syllable. This is a lady who can sing about having been to Hell and back with beautifully crafted melody and heartfelt vocals that make you believe her every word.

My only regret is the realization that this DVD may be the closest we will get to seeing Beth Hart performing live here in the US. It's a real shame that due to our American Idolized, super homogenized, over glamourized culture we will continue to only have access to great artists like Beth Hart via recorded concerts from overseas.

That's my story, and I'm sticking to it!

Janis Joplin reborn.......2007-03-20

My title may be misleading, Beth Hart has her very own sound although my very first reaction was comparing her to Janis regarding her voice as well as her persona. This DVD is the type of DVD that you can't wait to show off to your friends and then take full credit for turning them on to this new discovery. Beth Hart is a real powerhouse that nobody could copy, great voice, great show.

I can't decide which song I like best. This is really one of the best live cd's I've listened to.
If you don't like blues - you will after you listen to Beth Hart.
Modern day Janis Joplin - maybe but I prefer to think of her as her own person.
If you want a cd that will put you to sleep, don't buy this one. It's live and will make you feel alive.
It's really well done. Worth the money. Yes, worth every penny.

ANYONE who has either been to a Beth Hart concert or met her in real flesh is one fortunate ****.Here is the best voice in the music world- and she is forced into being a support act in her Homeland. What is wrong with you Americans.Throw away your Britney, Jessica and JLo cds (are they meant to be singers or are they just comedy acts doing pseudo-singing skits?)
I watched Beth on tv sing at a nation-wide fund raiser/celeb boxing match for youth suicide awareness some years ago in NZ.At that time 'LA Song' was a HUGE hit in New Zealand.Since then I've searched out and bought all her cds.Buy this dvd and it's almost as good as being there.Her singing sends shivers up the spine of your deepest soul, believe me.As I said before, she is easiestly the best vocalist today, but alas for some reason...Anyway, buy, enjoy, savour and treasure.She's one of a kind.

Jaw-Dropping!.......2006-09-28

This DVD practically knocked me across the room. I've never been so impressed by any artist. There is no one else like Beth Hart and this DVD captures a jaw-dropping performance.
I've seen Beth live 3 times and the range of her talent (piano ballads, blues, and true rock) is captured here. It documents this amazing, raw concert and almost makes you feel you are there. I've never seen anyone give this much on stage. She is spontaneous and fearless. Her voice is pure power and control and she has an incredible ability to adapt her voice to what is right for each song. She is also a gifted songwriter and every song on the set list is outstanding. By the time you get to "Am I the One" you will be in awe. Beth's ability to connect to the audience is like no other. She relates painful life experiences and yet still communicates a feeling of hope.
The band also kicks a**.
This concert DVD is entertaining, funny, provocative, spellbinding and inspiring. Best I've ever seen. She has such a down to earth, sexy, wild and funny personality. You will fall in love with Beth.
You'll be recommending this DVD to all your friends.
