Thirty songs, spread out over two discs and well over two and a half hours, with fine performances, great sound, and good visual direction: it's all here on Farewell 1 Tour, a documentary of the Eagles' 2004 concert in Melbourne, Australia. At one point, the veteran band seemed unlikely to even make it to the new millennium, but here they are, mostly intact, with a string of hits dating back more than three decades. The majority of them are performed here, from the earliest ("Take It Easy," "Desperado," "Peaceful Easy Feeling") through "Hotel California" and "Life in the Fast Lane" and right up to "Love Will Keep Us Alive" (from Hell Freezes Over, their most recent recording with new material on it); there are also hits from Glenn Frey, Don Henley, and Joe Walsh's solo careers, and a few new songs as well, including Walsh's "One Day at a Time" (an earnest ode to his new-found sobriety) and "Hole in the World," Frey and Henley's moving, almost gospel-tinged reaction to the events of 9/11/01. Guitarist Don Felder, who split acrimoniously with the band in 2001, isn't much missed, as replacement Steuart Smith plays the parts just as Felder did--i.e., pretty much exactly as they were recorded (indeed, pristine recreations of the studio versions of their songs has always been a hallmark of the Eagles' live shows). As for the somewhat cheeky title, well, there's always been a certain smugness to the Eagles' sense of humor, and it's no different this time, as Frey doesn't even pretend that there won't be a Farewell 2 Tour in the future. And why not? These are good songs, played beautifully by the quartet (plus supplemental musicians) to audiences that love them. Bonus material is limited to perfunctory interviews with the band. --Sam Graham
Description
Without doubt, the Eagles are one of the all-time biggest acts in popular music since the dawn of the rock'n'roll era. The band's roots go back to their role as defining artists in the phenomenally popular Southern California rock scene of the '70s, a decade in which they delivered four consecutive #1 albums. Their momentous 2004 farewell tour filled stadiums around the world, and this 2-DVD set captures one of the most stellar events from that now-historic global sweep. Track Listings: Disc 1: Long Run, New Kid in Town, Wasted Time, Peaceful Easy Feeling, I Can't Tell You Why, One of These Nights, One Day At A Time (New Track), Lyin' Eyes, Boys of Summer, In The City, Already Gone, Tequila Sunrise, Love Will Keep Us Alive, No More Cloudy Days (New Track), Hole In the World, Take It To the Limit, Disc 2: You Belong to the City, Walk Away, Sunset Grill, Life's Been Good, Dirty Laundry, Funk #49, Heartache Tonight, Life in the Fast Lane, Hotel California, Rocky Mountain Way, All She Wants To Do Is Dance, Take It Easy, Desperado

Great concert.......2007-06-05
Pop this baby in your DVD player and turn on the DTS. This is a great concert all around, these guys can still play and sing. Watch for many of their classic songs such as New Kid In Town and Desperado, as well as some new ones.
The real treat though is the sound, the harmonies are crisp, and the music is very clear. Bring on Farewell II!
Awesome.......2007-05-21
In my opinion, the Eagles are the best band ever, and these DVDs are incredible. Well worth the money. Wish I could have been at the concert.
Lets hope this is the first of MANY farewells yet..........2007-05-15
A fabulous documentation of The Eagles much heralded Farewell I Tour of 2003, from the performance in Melbourne, Australia, the generous 2 Disc set includes a great amount of Eagle classics and favourites, 2 exceptional new tracks from their upcoming 2007 studio album, and a thrilling assortment of the best of each respective member's solo work from the 70s-90s. The Eagles are in fine vocal form, showcasing the famous four-part harmonies that graced some of their best recordings. The performances, instrumentally, are extremely impressive, and the extra muscle of the newly added four-man brass section adds an amazing new flavor to the group's classic sound. The picture and audio quality are all first rate, and one can only hope that this is a first in a long series of live sets available in the next decade of Eagle music.
A farewell tour that says a forever "hello"! .......2007-05-13
Ease back and get comfortable. This is going to blow you right out of your doldrums and into a new attitude for life, love, and music. This is a consummate piece of music that will fill your whole being. Fun, Fantastic, and Forever music by the Eagles. Their whole jive is a gift to all of us. From their oldest classics of the 1972 vintage right up to their newest release, this is a tribute to all of us. We can share their music, their souls, and their gifted talents with harmony of mind, spirit, and heart. I can only give the most heartedly recommendation of this release to your music collection. It is pure. It is like having the first taste of mountain spring water after a walk in the desert of sound.. this is music. Clean, clear, and a passage to places only your heart can lead you. Buy it. Best thing you can do!

Customer Reviews:
One of the greatest rock bands now on HD DVD........2007-06-28
The Eagles are one of my favorite rock bands. I was never fortunate enough to enjoy their music in person but this HD DVD brings me pretty close to that experience. I was tempted to get the DVD version some months ago but glad I held out. The classics are all here - Tequila Sunrise, Love Will Keep Us Alive, You Belong To The City, Dirty Laundry, Hotel California, Desperado, etc. The Audio/Video recording is superb and the Menu organizes the songs/chapters very well. This has got to be one of the best concert HD DVDs out there. A perfect way to show off your home theater.
The Eagles Are Better Than Ever.......2007-05-31
An excellent concert & to be enjoyed in HD is another plus. The Eagles actually seem better in their old age now. It must be maturity. Although, the HD DVD did not have camera angle shots as an added bonus, it was still produced well & is an excellent item for the DVD library.
Did not work.......2007-05-15
I bought this specifcally because it said HD DVD. It was a gift for my mother and she owns a HD dvd player. It not only did not work in the HD DVD but on none of the other 5 DVD players we tried.
ABOVE AND BEYOND HELL FREzZES OVER!.......2007-05-14
After watching and listening to " Hell frezzes over" the standard in audio-video, concert watching and superstars jamming has been changed forever.
You know what I am talking about...however with the "Farewell tour" is just keep rising the bar...how high can it go?
Well the eagles have been rising even higher. Their wings have no knowledge of getting tired...they can push higher and higher...
On the recording part (audio and video) the HD shines in every aspect.
Boy I love HD! And of course I love Eagles! Nice symbiosis between the two!
AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!.......2007-05-14
We were not Eagles fans when they (and we) were younger, but after listening to this concert many times we definitely are now! It's 2 hours and 40 minutes long and they sound great on every song. Both the audio and the video are fantastic.

Amazon.com essential video
The long-defunct, Southern California band regrouped for an album, an expensive tour (expensive for ticket buyers, that is), and this televised special, which features the Eagles in performance. Laid-back but sharp and even stirring during a longish acoustic set, the guys quickly get past the nostalgia element and sound truly viable. They even make it look easy: the sight of Joe Walsh wearing glasses and sitting in almost perfect repose as he effortlessly colors old hits "Tequila Sunrise" and new material such as "Learn to Be Still" may make you wonder why you ever stashed that guitar in the attic. But the band eventually gets off their stools and rocks out on "Hotel California" and other Eagles standards. All in all, it's an enjoyable and mellowing show. --Tom Keogh
Customer Reviews:
FANTASTIC SOUND AND PICTURE MAKE THIS A MUST HAVE!.......2007-07-08
I am a fan of the Eagles and never saw them live. This DVD looks and sounds great and the band plays and sings like the polished pros that they are. If I have one complaint it is the song selection. These guys have a lot of classic songs and they could have added a few more of the early classics for my taste. Other than that one complaint, this is a great music DVD to have in your collection.
And here's how it all started..........2007-07-03
This DVD has been rented from my local public library many times within my family so I finally decided to just go buy it!
This show is quite something especially when you consider it was made in '94. The Eagles were a solid group before and as Joe Walsh brings out, they still "show they can rock" on this DVD. There are multiple audio selections and the visuals are all very appropriate. The camera angles allow you to see much of the group throughout and you never really miss seeing the solos. That's something I particularly enjoy after seeing a lot of recorded shows where the camera switches to the drummer when the guitar player is noodling, or vica versa.
All around I give this DVD five stars because of how truly clean, entertaining, and even relaxing it is. If I were to relate the quality of this to any other DVD I own it would be to the Diana Krall: Live in Paris DVD.
Quality of Sound.......2007-05-31
Enough people have reviewed about the album and hence I will stick to the quality of sound. I brought this DVD as a reference DVD for my music setup comprising of Klipsch speakers, HK 635 amp linked using Monster THX cables/inter-connects mostly brought from Amazon. The quality of music listening to the DTS is amazing and really make you proud about your investment on hardware. As is being reviewed by hifi buffs, I almost started listening to each and every instruments separately and this is where the danger starts. Music is supposed to be listened to as one, when you have more and more expensive music systems, you will end up listening to some un-heard sound, missing the song. There should be a limit to the "separateness" needed for people who loves Music and I think I have almost crossed that limit with my set up.
The Eagles - Hell Freezes Over.......2007-05-07
One of the best concert videos of all time, wish I had been there!
One to own!.......2007-03-14
I'll keep it brief as the benefits of this now classic performance have been well stated in other reviews. All I can say is if you like the Eagles music you'll love this dvd. And.. if you have a decent audio set up, it'll blow your mind! Beware the 'Farewell Tour' dvd new release. It's not bad but you WILL be dissapointed by the sound especially and the performances after the 'Freezes Over' experience.

Self-professed "singer of the American West" John Denver shines in this heartfelt, 1995 live concert to benefit the Wildlife Conservation Society. Favorite songs such as "Rocky Mountain High," "Wild Montana Skies," and "Fly Away" are moving and gain fresh perspective from brief comments by Denver. Lesser-known songs like "Eagles and Horses" and "You Say the Battle Is Over" celebrate the spirit of animals and nature while underlining the importance of preservation. Succinct interview clips express Denver's commitment to nature: exploring man's basic hunger for the wild, the dichotomy between the uncultivated and the city, and the power of the individual to effect preservation and change. Striking though brief footage of wild animals like horses, eagles, penguins, and elephants in their natural habitats serve as bookends to the presentation. The Wildlife Concert is a reflective and moving musical celebration of the American West. --Tami Horiuchi

No problems with seller. If it were possible, I would give this 10 stars !

The Best of the Best.......2007-05-17
I own two VHS tapes of the Wildlife Concert. Now, thanks to Amazon.com, I also own the DVD. This is the very best performance of John Denver's much too short career and life. It contains songs many of you will not know or remember. He aged better than a fine wine. His beautiful voice became more beautiful with each passing year.
I was always in awe of him, inspired by him, and felt validated by him. Being very much like him, feeling the same way about my planet, hunger, wildlife, children, animals, and the ecology, made it easy for me to relate to him. He felt what I felt and I'm sure I know how he somehow felt a "man apart", so to speak. I understood.
But John Denver put his heart and his soul into lyrics, then to music. His voice will forever be unequaled. Nothing on this earth, other than a horse, is a beautiful as John Denver's voice. On this DVD, as on no other CD or DVD, is that voice more beautiful or the message more powerful. I miss you, John.
Suzanne Whitaker
Great John Denver Concert. .......2007-05-12
If you are a John Denver fan, you will love this DVD. It is vintage John Denver. He performs hits and some lesser known songs. It is really special to be able to see him in concert again even though we have lost him.
I loved it!.......2007-04-17
What a voice we lost when this man died! And yet, his legacy lives on in this compelling DVD what highlights the best of his music AND supports the work of the Wildlife Conservation Society.
Features the ability to turn on or off written lyrics so you can sing along (or prevent someone from singing along if they don't know the words). Instant chapter access to songs, so you can play your favorites easily. In-depth biography allows those of us who never knew him (and those who did) to know him a little better. Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound or Dolby Stereo.
So many incredible songs! Country Roads, Back Home Again, Rocky Mountain High, Fly Away, Annie's Song, Sunshine (on My Shoulders), Calypso, Leaving on a Jet Plane, Good-bye Again, and many more!
I loved it. This is something anyone can support, even with John Denver gone, that can make a difference in a world increasingly off-balance environmentally. What a legacy to leave behind!
An Inconvenient Truth
HEARTWARMING & SOOTHING!.......2007-04-16
This is a must DVD for any John Denver fan. The concert feels very intimate since he performs in front of a small audience. You almost feel like you're there in person. During the concert they show clips of John Denver talking about preserving the environment and its wildlife. He was very passionate about this topic and this is how he would like to be remembered.

Recorded on a single night in June 2000, In the Flesh: Live is a thrilling live testament to the strength of Roger Waters's peculiar artistic vision. Backed by a crack ensemble of both fresh and seasoned players, the former Pink Floyd songsmith powers through Floyd classics, underserved relics, and highlights from his spotty solo career. The man is in great shape, physically and musically, and he obviously has a blast playing live.
What of the axe work? Accept the fact that Waters and Floyd guitarist David Gilmour no longer play together, and you'll appreciate stand-ins Snowy White and Doyle Bramhall II--and the degree to which they honor the parts and solos immortalized by Gilmour. (See the lavish but impersonal Pulse for a healthy dose of Gilmour's Floyd.) The Dolby Digital 5.1 surround mix is massive, presenting both the music's inherent spaciousness and the favorable acoustics in Portland, Oregon's Rose Garden Arena. The DVD's 18-minute documentary is long on downtime and short on musical interplay. Any way you cut it, though, this is a must for Floyd fans and a real treat for lovers of arty, intelligent rock. --Michael Mikesell

Customer Reviews:
Wow -Absolutely amazing.......2007-05-14
When I bought this DVD I didn't really know what to expect from Waters, being more of a David Gilmour fan I was a bit skeptical, but totally blown away nonetheless. This is a must have for anyone who loves the late seventies/early eighties Floyd. I hate to admit this, but I actually enjoyed it even more than PULSE.
sweet.......2007-05-09
It is a pretty decent concert- sound and video pretty good- its a keeper
Pink Floyd: Uncovered.......2007-04-27
Being a fan of Pink Floyd's music in the early 80's, this DVD was a real treat! For the first time, seeing Roger Waters singled out was a real eye opener for me. I had only really thought of Pink Floyd as a sum of its parts; not as unique musicians coming together to be a part of something very special.
Seeing Roger on stage, behind the scenes and interacting with his fellow band mates made everything seem more "real", better understood.
I whole-heartedly recommend this DVD for those who are only even partially interested in Pink Floyd's music. The sound quality is unbelieveable and the video quality is at least as good.
"Shine on, you crazy diamond!"
Absolutely Amazing!!!!.......2007-04-12
Waters the Pink Floyd's Soul & Brain comes back with this amazing concert, a real masterpiece, the only sad thing is that is not a DTS sound in the DVD but that's not a impediment to enjoy it.
WOW!.......2007-02-10
WOW, fantastic sound, entertaining show, polished performers and those wonderful Pink Floyd songs. Personally, I really enjoyed hearing Roger's solo work. My favorite was 'Amused to Death' but 'The Bravery of Being Out of Range' has an upbeat energy and is done very well with a better sound than the released 'faux' concert version on the original album. After seeing Roger's 2006 tour I now think the visuals were the only weakness in this DVD but the true fan will love it and look forward to his next release from The Dark Side of the Moon tour. Here's to hoping!

Amazon.com essential video
Far superior to any previous home-video version, the huge deluxe edition of Elvis: Aloha from Hawaii captures over four hours of footage from the King's historic televised concert from January 1973. The main concert is presented in its entirety for the first time since its original worldwide satellite telecast, and reedited to remove the now-dated split-screen "montage" look. But that's not all--as a prelude to the concert, the first disc includes 17 uncut minutes of the "Elvis arrives" footage (only 2 minutes of which appears in the concert film) followed by the complete rehearsal concert that took place two days before the telecast. This rehearsal, which was released separately on video as The Alternate Aloha Concert, is rougher than the official show, but more relaxed and often more satisfying musically.
Leading off disc 2 is footage of five songs ("Blue Hawaii," "Ku-U-I-Po," "No More," "Hawaiian Wedding Song," and "Early Morning Rain"), including multiple takes, recorded after the performance, four of which ("No More" was the exception) were incorporated into the American television special that was shown a few months after the live telecast. Those four songs are not included in the uncut version of the concert on disc 1, but the original version of the American television special is also on disc 2 so you can watch the concert the way you've always watched it for the sake of nostalgia, or you can compare it to all the other pieces you've seen and decide which you like better. Either way, Elvis: Aloha from Hawaii is an embarrassment of riches that's rivaled only by its companion release, the three-disc deluxe edition of Elvis's '68 Comeback Special. --David Horiuchi

Elton John has had too many hits over the last three decades for the 12 songs in this collection to seriously be considered his "greatest," but that's hair-splitting. This hourlong concert, performed by John, his band, and several guest singers before a packed house at New York's Madison Square Garden in October 2000, certainly does contain some of his (and lyricist Bernie Taupin's) best and most popular tunes, like "Candle in the Wind," "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road," "Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me," and "Your Song." And while Elton is a rather unlikely pop star these days--chubby, middle-aged, far less flamboyant than in his '70s heyday--he can still put on a good show, and that's just what he and his band (including longtime cohorts Davey Johnstone on guitar and Nigel Olsson on drums) do.
Some of his choices for guests are a bit puzzling: Bryan Adams adds little excitement to "Sad Songs (Say So Much)," while singer Ronan Keating of the British group Boyzone, a virtual unknown in the United States, is superfluous on "Your Song," perhaps Elton's most enduring tune (revived to considerably better effect on the Moulin Rouge soundtrack). On the other hand, Billy Joel is a good foil for Elton on "Yellow Brick Road," Mary J. Blige adds some soulful fervor to "I Guess That's Why They Call It the Blues," Kiki Dee shows up to duet with Elton on "Don't Go Breaking My Heart" for the first time in several eons, and the young American singer Anastacia is a revelation on a hard-rocking "Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting." --Sam Graham

Great DVD.......2007-07-03
My eight yr old LOVES Rocket Man so I purchased this DVD for him to learn more about Elton John's music. He LOVED it! Of course, so did my husband and I. Very entertaining. Arrived fast and in great condition.
Best Concert DVD I Own.......2007-06-15
This is the best live concert DVD that I have ever viewed. Video quality is great and both the Dolby Digital and DTS soundtracks sound great. I've done some comparison between the DD and DTS tracks and I have to say the DD track has a little more punch but the DTS track is very detailed and clean. The best part of this DVD for me is the audience interaction. Everybody is on their feet for the entire concert and there are so many great guest stars. Billy Joel is great and Mary J Blige, wow! Get this DVD!!
Great Performance - LOUSY Video Clarity.......2007-03-29
If you've read far enough to get to this review, you're probably aware that this DVD contains a great selection of songs, performed well. As a musician, I have thoroughly enjoyed the caliber of musicianship demonstrated by both Elton and his very capable troupe of musicians. The composition of the shots is superb, as is the editing.
HOWEVER, I've watched this on a Hi-Def LCD and was very disappointed with the video quality. It looks like it was shot on VHS. It is quite distracting. If you are a videophile or only plan on watching this on a Hi-Def set, be prepared for very 1990's-looking video. If you can live with that, this is a great set.
Elton disappoints.......2007-03-25
The sound and video quality are excellent. The show is spectacular. Elton sounds terrible. I've never seen Elton live, I'm a casual fan that has enjoyed several of his CD's. I expected him to be a great show perfomer, but I thought he sounded old and tired. It didn't seem like he could hit the notes or even sing some of the lyrics. At times it was unbearable. I expected so much more.
GREAT ELTON JOHN VIDEO!.......2007-02-19
THIS VIDEO IS FOR ANY ELTON JOHN FAN! I SAT AND WATCHED THIS WITHOUT LEAVING MY SEAT. EVEN IF YOUR NOT A BIG ELTON JOHN FAN, YOU WILL BE AFTER THIS VIDEO!

Like any good brand, the Rolling Stones know to preserve the formula even when updating the package, and this long-form concert video underscores that market strategy. As with each of their tours since the early '80s, the quartet, augmented by a discreet auxiliary of backup musicians, gives the fans new eye candy while dishing up a familiar set list spiked with Mick Jagger's lip-smacking vocals and Keith Richards's signature guitar riffs. The visual twists are at once spectacular and conservative: a cyclopean main stage design with massive pillars (presumably the Babylonian connection), a vast oval video screen (shades of Big Brother), and a hydraulic bridge enabling a midconcert sortie into the audience, with the Stones playing a more stripped-down, intimate set on a small satellite stage.
That huge physical setting doubtless made the live shows eye-filling rock spectacles, but the video crew necessarily accepts the limitations of the small screen, focusing more on close-ups of the band, rapid cuts, and racing, hand-held tracking shots to convey excitement while keeping the viewer close to the action. The evening's repertoire sticks to the band's most familiar hits, and if the Glimmer Twins occasionally slip their masks to let the routine show, the real wonder is how effectively they keep the playing focused. During the first half of the program, the band's newest songs (especially "Saint of Me" and "Out of Control") elicit conspicuously higher energy from the band, if not the audience. But just as the show seems doomed to a certain anomie, the escape onto the smaller, no-frills stage pumps up players and crowd alike, particularly when they launch into "Like a Rolling Stone," a cover that winds up sounding like a great idea too long deferred. --Sam Sutherland
Customer Reviews:
Superior Concert Video.......2006-10-31
This is by far the best concert video I own. The Stones were on top of their game at this St. Louis concert, soulful, bluesy, and rocking. The cameras stay on the band the whole time, unlike many current concert videos that seem to think the viewer wants to watch the audience. The sound is CD quality, the picture and color is vivid, the editing is tight. The highlight for me is Keith Richards' "I Wanna Hold You" and some incredible versions of many classics. The songs from the Bridges to Babylon album are excellent and it is funny how quickly some of them faded from the permanent repertoire. The fact of the matter is the Stones have enough excellent songs to do ten different concerts.
I highly recommend this DVD. It is superior to the Four Flicks, and a lot less expensive. Five Stars.
Just hits and good performance.......2006-04-06
If you must buy one Rolling Stones DVD concert...you must choose this one; no doubts about that. Great artists performance and just hits on this. I'm a new Rolling Stones fan just because this DVD. Great value!
Loved It!.......2006-02-25
Here you'll find Mick, Keith and the boys together with some "cool friends" doing what they do best. ROCK & ROLL!
They have the lovely & talented Lisa Fischer on backup vocals. She really used her "assets talents," all of them. Her voice hits all of those amazing notes that few singers will ever hope aproach.
The "really cool" Joshua Redmond joins in with his saxophone.
Lets not forget the inovative theatrics that we've come to expect from the Stones. The never disapoint me in that area. In this film they do actually cross "a bridge" to Babylon.
If you love the Stones and you love seeing them live or wish you could, this is a great way to see them!
All right, I admit it. I am a huge fan, (can't fool you) since the begining. I've spent more than I'll admit this year on concert Tickets, T-Shirts and DVD/CDs. Not to mention plane tickets!
ok but not the best.......2006-02-24
this dvd is stones but not up to their best. any stones are great so since this is fairly inexpensive i might recommend it
Captures high energy and party atmosphere........2006-01-01
This solid show has some great moments. The 10 minute Miss You version here is the best available, with the whole band acting like they never want it to end. Lisa Fischer, the awesome support singer, is in rare form as she and Mick bump and grind all over the stage. She gets in everybody's business on this one. Surprisingly, Miss You doesn't appear on Four Flicks. Neither does Its Only Rock and Roll, which is a highlight from the B-stage here. Also is a terrific Wild Horses duet with Dave Matthews and Dylan's Like a Rolling Stone-performed better here than on Stripped. Another highlight is Keith's I wanna Hold You, from Undercover. The sound is a slight step down from Four Flicks, but certainly great for when it was released. At the end we get a blazing Juming Jack Flash with Mick sporting cool shades and Keith and Ronnie weaving in and out like they're trying to outdo themselves. Lots of Fun!

It will be many years before Journey's music will be known as anything but soupy '70s arena rock and embarrassingly overwrought '80s pop. But that day will come: the songs and the playing are just too good for the scorn and ridicule to endure forever. Journey: Greatest Hits DVD 1978-1997 will do little, however, to hasten the band's salvation. In fact, if it weren't such a gift to those who love the music, a case could be made for suppressing the disc's video content, so unimaginative is most of the directing and so damning is the attire (or lack thereof).
But even if sweaty guys running around in tight jeans and no underwear isn't really your thing, the disc has its treats. There's MTV nostalgia, pure and simple--"Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)," with its mimed quayside performance and strutting high-heeled model, is perhaps the quintessential "What were they thinking?" video. We also get exciting glimpses of the early band (with keyboardist Gregg Rolie passing the lead-vocal torch to newcomer Steve Perry) kicking out classics like "Feeling That Way," "Lights," and "Just the Same Way." Many of the songs feature live audio as well as video, and it's here, most notably in "Who's Crying Now" and "Stone in Love," that lead guitarist Neal Schon cuts loose with some extended licks. An unexpected pleasure is 1996's heartfelt ballad "When You Love a Woman." The guys are aging gracefully, Steve Smith's drumming is better than ever, and the video itself boasts the most tasteful production of the bunch. --Michael Mikesell

Journey's greatest hits.......2007-06-26
This is a fabulous cd of Journey's greatest hits/videos. Really, really fun to watch. If you like Journey, you will love this cd.
So-so.......2007-04-10
It's fun to have these videos, but the interface and quality is kind of so-so.
Great Music DVD.......2007-03-15
I feel like a teenager again every time I watch this. I am a HUGE Journey fan and Steve Perry is such a great singer. If you're a Journey fan you will absolutely enoy this DVD.
If you are a Journey fan...........2007-03-13
You will absolutely love this dvd! It starts with the early years & goes on into the later years. I had forgotten just how much I loved Journey back in the day. I have watched it over & over. I have never seen or heard them perform live before this dvd & let me tell you, they are fantastic live! I would go so far as to say that they are one of the top 5 as far as live performances. I only wish now that I could've seen them in concert!!!
If you have the chance to purchase this dvd please do it. You won't regret it!
Classic!.......2007-02-22
Greatest Hits for sure! Could've used some other songs and/or videos I particularly enjoyed, such as 'Chain Reaction' and 'Lovin' You Is Easy'; however, it's got a good mix of music videos and live shows. The only thing I didn't like was the fact that the song 'Any Way You Want It' was taped live; I liked the actual video for that better, and would have preferred that on the DVD. Other than that - song choice is phenomenal, you really get to feel how Journey's sound and vibe, courtesy of its change in vocalist, keyboardist, and drummer, has shaped and re-shaped itself over the many years. All in all - a great nostalgic DVD, and a must for Journey collectors!

If you love concert DVDs that offer first-rate music, excellent sound and picture, a beautiful setting, and substantial bonus features, then Alison Krauss and Union Station Live is destined to become your new favorite. It's not just for bluegrass fans either, as proven by Krauss's crossover success on the smash soundtrack of O Brother, Where Art Thou? as well as her pop-oriented hits such as "Now That I've Found You." That song plus "The Lucky One," "When You Say Nothing at All," and others are the perfect showcase for Krauss's meltingly gorgeous voice, and admirers of the concert's two-CD set will also find out how funny she is in her between-songs banter. AKUS has never been all about Krauss, however, so there are also instrumental jams plus featured spots for other members, including Dan Tyminski on O Brother's rousing "I Am a Man of Constant Sorrow."
The second DVD offers 50 minutes of interviews in which all five members plus drummer Larry Atamanuik discuss their influences, their instruments, and their favorite songs. There's also backstage and road footage, baby pictures, and more. Perhaps the only disappointment is that two songs from the CDs are not included in the concert: "Down to the River to Pray," which is heard over the end credits but not shown on stage--presumably because the CD version was not taken from this 2002 Louisville show--and "There Is a Reason." --David Horiuchi
Customer Reviews:
AKUS DVD (live).......2007-06-27
I really enjoyed watching this video.
The music is very skillful and delightful to hear. Bluegrass & ballad style. Alison has a laid back and humorous manner, and she has a very clear and beautiful sounding voice.
Alison Has a New Fan.......2007-06-16
I saw this same presentation on HD Net and was floored by this incredible talent. Later I found the concert was on DVD (received a Grammy for best live concert, you will hear why) and got it. I'm not a fan of live concert recordings, but this one was different. It is so good, I use it now as a system demo. There is no center front channel in Dolby 5.1 (Dolby 4.1 really) or DTS (both soundtracks are selectable), but I think this is an advantage. Spatial relationships are maintained between the two front mains and the rears provide the auditorium ambience. Audio and video are spotless.
Alison Kraus and Union Station Live.......2007-02-13
Anyone who is an Alison Kraus and Union Station fan will love this DVD. Recorded in hi-def and 5.1 surround sound, you almost think you are front row at the concert. Alison's band Union Staion are excellent top notch musicians. Alison has the voice of an angel,it doesn't get any better than this one if you are an Alison Kraus fan. I recomend this DVD very highly.
It doesn't do her/them justice........2007-02-03
I don't think this video did a good job of portraying how good they are in concert. If you ever get a chance to see them, don't miss it! The way her voice fills an auditorium is amazing. [Note: I've only seen them once.]
Great !! A must have for all bluegrass addicts.......2007-02-02
I've been a bluegrass fan for quite a long time now, and for me, AKUS are the best : Great songs, beautiful voices, great musicians, seeming to have a lot of fun on stage.
Alison's hat a great sense of humour and her presentations of the musicians are excellent.
This DVD brings you in the concert hall at the best seats.
The sound is excellent (DTS)
