Age 60 has rarely looked this good: Tina Turner, giving a London concert in November 1999 to celebrate her 60th birthday. The concert, surprisingly, consists of the kind of tepid, middle-of-the-road fare she's been turning out since reviving her career in the mid-1980s with "What's Love Got to Do with It." The best parts of this video are the archival footage of a lithe, young Tina doing the Pony and the Hully-Gully and any other thing she wanted to while performing with ex-husband Ike Turner. There's little of Turner's contemporary output that holds a candle to the older clips of Tina performing "River Deep Mountain High" or "Proud Mary." The interview segments include glowing comments by everyone from Sting to Keith Richards, Al Green to Oprah Winfrey to Phil Spector. The video's twin low points: a live duet with faux-rocker Bryan Adams and Cher's reminiscences of counseling Tina to leave Ike, shortly after Cher left Sonny. --Marshall Fine

3 out of 5 stars Okay if you wanna cure a 'Tina Jones'..........2005-03-25

...but by god, the steamiest of her most recent concerts has gotta be the one she did some 4-5 years ago in Amsterdam. Highlites of this show/DVD production is her renditions of Let's Stay Together and an adequate Nutbush City Limits (see Amsterdam show for a great Nutbush also). They interview folks like Keith Richards, Cher and David Bowie here to celebrate the greatness of la Tina on her 60th. The program shows that at 60, Tina still has great gams and she still can put on a great show. Every one else 'bout that age is looking for AARP discounts.

5 out of 5 stars the duet with Bryan Adams was a LOW POINT????!!!.......2005-03-16

I disagree completely. I loved it, especially the new song that 'It's Only Love' morphed into. I haven't heard that one before, and I'm buying the DVD for that, and for the duet with David Bowie, and for lots of other things, including the parts with CHER, who doesn't
rub me the wrong way as much as she appears to do to Marshall Fine.

I have loved Tina ever since I saw her do 'River Deep Mountain High' on the Smothers Brothers Show in 1968 or so. I saw her with Ike and the Ikettes LIVE in the early seventies. I too thrill to the opening of 'Proud Mary' but I also thrill to songs like 'Undercover Agent for the Blues' and other songs from her 1992 tour, which was one of the best concerts I've ever been at.
I love the fact that she still has those two guitar players and the sax player from 1992 in this 1999 DVD. Her band is fabulous,
and Tina is still the high priestess of rock and roll, as she showed in that duet with Bryan Adams.
