I'm a big fan of Meatloaf and was eagerly awaiting the DVD that I rented. When I received it I watched it the same night. What a disappointment. The Melbourne Symphony was spectacular as were the boys choir and his back-up singers and band but Meatloaf did a very poor performance. He butchered his own music....
Don't waste your money on this one!

You know, Meat Loaf (Marvin Lee Aday) does not have a lot of material to work with. He's been performing for over 30 years and yet he really only has about three tangible hits to his career. "Two Out of Three Ain't Bad" and "Paradise By the Dashboard Light" are his claim to fame. Both from his one big album from 1977 called "Bat Out of Hell". Perhaps even his later song "I'd Do Anything For Love (But I Won't Do That)" kept his name alive through the nineties. But, he doesn't give up, does he? He pushes his small contribution to rock music on his concerts and constantly finds ways to embellish what little he has to offer. He's got a unique operatic approach to rock and roll. Full blown orchestration, but with really cheesy lyrical content. Many of his titles are based on silly phases but fully embellished with rock guitar and orchestra. Somehow, I can't help but think that he must have something to do with Bonnie Tyler's music career. Her lyrics sound like they were written by him as well

This rather heavyset performer knows that he has to offer something more than just himself to pack in an audience. So he performs "larger than life" on stage with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and also fills the stage with many scantily clad hot babes to keep the show rather sexy and exciting. I enjoy fabricated "babefests" on film so this concert merits some appeal for me.

I'd say that this show was pretty good. It's better than I was expecting. This concert was filmed in 2004 in Australia. It's worth renting once. Check it out.

The sights & sounds of this DVD were exceptional. Meatloaf continues to put his heart & soul into his music and it shows. We have watched this over and over.

This is one of the best concerts on DVD that I have ever seen. Absolutely great. I have seen Meat Loaf live 4 times and would have loved to have been at this concert.
My advice would be to watch the concert first then view it again with the commentary.
