The Japanese might not know exactly what "jump, jive, an' wail" means, but they know how to rock--and so does Brian Setzer, who does just that throughout this 20-song, 85-minute concert, filmed in Tokyo during his 2001 tour. The former Stray Cat guitarist-singer and his 17-piece, horn-heavy orchestra's big band swing-meets-rockabilly sound is dynamic and exciting--just check out the audience, which goes absolutely bonkers from the first note. We hear plenty of virtuoso soloing by Setzer (who also performs in trio and solo settings) on tunes ranging from standards like "In the Mood" to Stray Cats favorites like "Rock This Town." But it's more than a one-man deal; the band's onstage antics make this a fun show to both watch and listen to. DVD bonus features include a brief tour documentary, while two songs ("Caravan" and "Sleepwalk") can be viewed from different angles using your DVD remote. Let's rock, y'all! --Sam Graham

5 out of 5 stars Best I've seen! BSO rocks your socks off Daddy-O!.......2006-12-26

There's something the matter with you if you don't like this... I just can't stress it enough that Setzer is one of the very best musicians to ever grace this planet. Yes the Stray Cats are cooler than school, but this is even better. Just got this disc for Christmas and personally feel it's even better than the other two Setzer DVD's out there. The BSO rocks you through many classics as well as plenty of his own material. Live rock 'n roll shows just don't get any better than this. I'm a huge fan of Brian's guitar playing... just that killer Gretsch sound through a Fender amp, perfect.

5 out of 5 stars thee "guitar god".......2006-05-21

Wow! this man takes all those so called guitar heros look like intermediate students.Michaelangelo used basic tools to create masterpieces, raw talent.Setzer, basic tools{look kids,no effect pedals!}masterpieces! What this boy can do is pure genius and he does it like he's just killin time.I dont think many would be left standing in a shootout with this gunslinger!Oh yeah the band,WOW!what bass playing, seering horns, and drums!mercy. The japanese fans were a howl. They were having a blast. These cats dont hide behind effects, lights and smoke bombs.this is a real show.Hope you enjoy it as much as i did.I think i'll watch again!!!

5 out of 5 stars Brian Rocks!.......2006-02-25

This DVD is a favorite of our family. We can't sit and watch; we have to dance to it!! Brian Setzer and his orchestra are a class act.

5 out of 5 stars Amazing Show.......2006-02-25

What do you get if you put together the world's best guitarist, a 17-piece brass-based Big Band, 2 backup singers and 20 great rock-swing-boogie songs?

You get BSO - the Brian Setzer Orchestra. An amazing phenomenon.

I watched the DVD, and it was pure pleasure.

Brian Setzer, a three-time Grammy winner (1999 - Best Pop Vocal Performance by a Duo or Group for "Jump Jive An' Wail"; Best Pop
Instrumental Performance for "Sleepwalk"; 2001 - Best Pop Instrumental Performance for "Caravan"), could easily give Elvis a run for his money.
He sings great, and his control of the multiple guitars he uses along the show is out of this world. His fingers move on the strings in a pace faster than the mind can comprehend.

All this is coupled with top quality music, much of which has been written by Brian himself.

The orchestra members not only play their instruments, but also move in well choreographed and coordinated manner, which add much to the overall "let's have fun" atmosphere of the show.

Entertainment at its best. This show rocks!

A Must See for whoever loves GOOD music.
