Probably one of Dave's best gigs - a gem.......2007-06-27

Amazing guitar playing combined with the same Pink Floyd voice which made classics out of Roger's songs. His own songrwiting is also present as well as the usual Floydian reminisence to Syd.
A highlight is his one-guitar Shine On You Crazy Diamond.

I loved this concert and have seen it many times since buying it. It is a very, very recommendable purchase.

This video is beautiful. there is one part where Dave is explaining this bit from Darkside and it's mixed in such a way where it goes from darkside to him singing it in present and it is amazing. His voice is so beautiful even though he is showing some age here. Well...This DVD is a treasure for any fan of Pink Floyd or David Gilmour.

His style is great. The only bad thing I can say about this DVD is that it showed how much older he is getting. I am sad for the day that he will pass. I long for another album that is GOOD!

Acoustic versions of classic Pink Floyd.......2007-05-23

When I saw this DVD I bought it without reading too much about it - shame on me. I love Pink Floyd and David's solo work. In the endless debate of Roger Waters vs. David Gilmour my vote is always 110% in favor of David Gilmour. From the front cover it was obvious that it would be scaled down a bit but I didn't expect it to be as scaled down as it is. David talks to the audience a little here and there which is nice. The bad part about it, however, is that he speaks so softly that you can't hear anything he says without turning up the volume quite a bit. I would guess that the music is played at twice the volume as his voice when he speaks to the audience.

The intro sets the stage for what is to come: a very, very slow version of "Shine On You Crazy Diamonds" which is played again later in the set at more of a pace that Pink Floyd fans are used to. There are a couple times during the set when David plugs in the electric guitar for a guitar solo but throughout the set I found myself wanting to turn it off in favor of watching the "Pulse" dvd instead.

Overall I was very disappointed and if it were easier and possible I would return it for something else. I watched about half of the concert before falling asleep a couple nights ago and sadly have very little interest in even finishing it. It pains me to rate anything by David Gilmour or Pink Floyd so low but for the benefit of others I rated it how I honestly feel.

Good musicianship as ever but dissappointing.......2007-05-12

While Dave Gilmour is as excellent as ever the concert is not very engaging. Maybe it's me that just doesn't like acoustic versions of classic rock but it just didn't do anything for me. God knows who the guy was that did the intro to comfortably numb - even I could sing better than that - maybe it was his Dad :-)
Overall, not bad but lots of the emotion in the music wasn't there for me.

In the tradition of the Pink Floyd sound..........2007-04-10

As a life long Floyd fan, I was very pleased with this concert. Yes, David is beginning to show his age (turning 61 in March 2007!), but still delivering music in the true tradition of Pink Floyd.

I really enjoyed the way he "builds" the performance, starting out solo, then adding musicians and chorus elements as he moves along. It is also a pleaseure to see his use of the various guitars, including acoustic, electric, and slide.
