The trademark snarl and sneer are still in place, but it's a somewhat mellower, more reflective, middle-aged Billy Idol who takes center stage in this latest installment of the Storytellers series. Backed by a band including longtime cohort Steve Stevens on guitar, the one-time punk pioneer works his way through 15 songs (among which are 8 that didn't make the original cable broadcast, including a superb reading of "Eyes Without a Face") over the course of the 104-minute concert, pausing between tunes to reflect on times that "weren't meant to be remembered," as Idol puts it. More than half the show is performed semi-acoustically; it's odd to hear the likes of "White Wedding" and "Rebel Yell" played as acoustic duets, but they work. And when Stevens brings out his electric for "Dancing with Myself," "Mony Mony," and others, the joint rocks. DVD bonus features include a music-only option for those who want to forgo Billy's rap. --Sam Graham

4 out of 5 stars Billy Idol at his near-best.......2007-06-12

A fun, fast-moving live appearance by legendary rock singer Billy Idol, featuring reminiscences intercut with musical performances. If you're a Billy Idol fan, as I am, you'll enjoy this disc a lot. My only complaint is that the sonic quality is not as good as on most of Billy's CDs. I don't know if this is because of recording problems or because the soundtrack on DVDs is compressed to accomodate both audio and video on the same disc, but the lower quality is noticeable on a good system. Still, if you just want to rock out with one of the '80s best performers, this disc is a treat.

5 out of 5 stars Wow, this is great!.......2007-04-25

Oh my goodness! I thought I was into Billy Idol in the 80's, but after watching this I have fallen in love with him over and over 10 times more! His is so sexy and Steve Stevens is great! I love this!

5 out of 5 stars billy idol.......2007-02-12

It is great. Steve Stevens is great. I think the crowd was great. The show was great. The audio was great. I think the DVD was great.

5 out of 5 stars Still a Rocker!.......2007-01-04

The years has been kind to him. He's still got what it takes to rock the house. There are few different versions of some of the classics, but they're just more refined. If you're a fan of the eighties music, you'll love this selection. Steve Stevens is one of the best guitarists ever!

5 out of 5 stars Exceptional!.......2006-11-06

I have always been a fan of Billy Idol from way back. This DVD though, the show he put on was amazing. I have watched this DVD at least a couple times a week since I bought it back in August. I love all the stories behind the songs and was blown away by where some of them came from. I won't spoil it for you, but just say that if you like Billy Idol's music even a little bit this is surely the treat of a lifetime! You won't be disappointed.
