Description
They're pretty and they make good music too! This seems to be the layman's reaction when first setting eyes upon the intra-family pop group that is The Corrs. Three beautiful sisters and a brother make up this Irish sensation whose unique blend of traditional Celtic music and pop music have propelled them into pop stardom. Huge in the U.K. for a couple of years now, the Corrs are poised to become chart toppers in America as well. This acoustic performance was filmed at Ardmore Studio's in Dublin, and serves to demonstrate their talent at writing original and beautiful music.

Inspired.......2006-09-29
Much has already been written about this excellent DVD however none of the good points have been over emphasised. The audio and video quality is exceptional throughout and can bring out the very best in a top notch home cinema system.
I introduced the agent who sold me my Theta / Krell / Martin Logan system to this disc and although he was trying to sell me some upgraded Xtreme cards for my Casablanca at the time, he admited that it would be difficult to improve on the sound quality. In relation to the beautiful No Frontiers duet, as he said, you can not only hear every detail of the arrangement but you can truly feel the emotion in the performance. It is a truly moving experience. The picture quality too is very high although to obtain the best from the DVD a display system with good differentiation between blacks and differing shades of grey is required.
The performance itself is almost flawless, in fact the only bum note on this disc, at the end of a piano coda, stands out quite dramatically. However, such is the (justified) confidence in their abilities that rather than brush it under the carpet Jim jokes with his sister and the audience over it. Each member of the family appears completely at home playing a number of instruments, perhaps a testimony to their classical background, as referred to in the excellent review by C. Hsieh of All the Way Home.
A truly exceptional DVD by a truly exceptional group of musicians. If you love music you should have this in your DVD collection.
Incidentally I note with some sympathy the comments on the time it took for this DVD to appear in region 1 format. Normally it is the rest of the world that has to wait for other region code versions to appear and when they do they usually have less features than their region 1 equivalents. Unfortunately it appears that until consumers can find a way of pressuring for the abandonment of the discriminatory region code system every one will have to continue to settle for a less than ideal position.
Wow! .......2006-07-04
A must have in your concert library! This is a fantastic live performance by The Corrs. The sound is crisp and clear. This is easily the best The Corrs have ever sounded on a DVD. However, more importanly, the concert was masterfully filmed. Unlike their other concerts on DVD, this was filmed by professionals. It is intimate, varied and visually refreshing.
Superb, Intimate Performance.......2006-04-29
I love this DVD, it is my second favorite DVD performance The Corrs have put out (with "Live at Lansdowne Road" being my favorite). Before it had a North American NTSC region 1 release I ordered a region 2 PAL version from Blackstar in the UK. I knew it was worth the trouble to import it and to get a player capable of playing it. I ordered it without having seen it and I was not disappointed at all. It was worth every bit of the trouble. Of course now it's available as region 1.
While I like the full-blown concert at the Dublin's Lansdowne Road Stadium, hearing and seeing The Corrs perform in a studio setting backed by an orchestra a great. The sheer beauty of Andrea's ethereal voice really shines in the performance, but Sharon and Caroline also get to do some singing, and Caroline's singing voice is absolutely beautiful. If you're a fan of The Corrs, this is a "must have" DVD.
A MUST for Corrs lovers.......2006-02-02
Excellent performance. Their talent shines through in every song. A DTS version would be even better.
Beautiful!.......2006-01-29
1999 may have been the year of the Corrs. The group finished a whirlwind world tour, culminating in their famed Lansdowne Road concert in Dublin, sold millions of albums, and became one of the only acts ever to sing in an "MTV Unplugged" session that was taped for - and aired for - European fans only. However, with the long-awaited US release of the DVD, Americans can enjoy the concert for the first time.
Backed by the Irish Film Orchestra and featuring their two road band members, Anto Drennan and Keith Duffy, the Corrs put forth a beautiful show full of their classic hits - 'Only When I Sleep', 'Runaway', 'Dreams', as well as two previously unreleased songs (that would later appear on the "In Blue" album), 'Radio' and 'At Your Side', as well as covers of favorite hits, such as 'No Frontiers' and 'Old Town'. With most of the tunes performed acoustically, the show was organic, raw, and touching.
Why only four stars, then? While the DVD quality is extremely high, with a clear picture and great sound, this disc has absolutely no extras, which is a bit of a letdown. After waiting five years for Region 1 release, I had been hoping for something extra - but it was not meant to me. The show is, however, exquisite, thus the high rating.
Looking for a beautiful acoustic show featuring great music, great songs, and an enjoyable ninety minutes? Look no further.
