Let's get this straight, this movie is not to be taken seriously. It's not gonna win any Golden Globe or Academy Awards. It isn't a classic or a masterpiece either. With that being said, it is strange, crazy, outlandish, interesting, and very laughable and stupid at times. Frankly, it's just good enough if there's absolutely nothing else to watch, and you need to waste some time, you've come to the right place. There's nothing really memorable about it. I've watched this movie several times, and now that I think of it, every single time, I've had nothing better to do. However, I do think it was way better than the first "House" with William Katt though. I know that comment leaves a lot to be desired for the viewers who had the misfortune of seeing the first film. Let's not forget, the extremely chessy special effects. I will give them brownie points for doing the best they could do with the budget, but I can probably guarantee that the same guys did the special effects for both films. I don't know if ths movie can be classed up as horror, but more of a spoof or a dark comedy so to speak. I will tell you that this is the first and last time that you will see most of the faces in this movie. I say that because this movie clearly killed Arye Gross', Jonathan Stark's, and Lar Park Lincoln's career because I never saw them again after this film even though I know their names and faces.

Refreshing.......2007-01-21

This movie is a great change of pace from most horror flicks. Very much tongue in cheek, it revels in cheesy special effects and will make you laugh. The violence is very PG, so most members of the family can watch. The only downside is the mono soundtrack. Outside of that it just a fun movie to watch. If you want to be frightened don't watch this one. Just pure escapism.

I've seen this movie many times. I like it because it's funnier than the first, as the first is more macabre. And the cross between of a dog and caterpillar, one of the characters in the movie, is extremely cute.

Wow! What I never knew!.......2007-04-18

JFK: The Case for Conspiracy spells out all the information that the Warren Commission never told America. As young as I was in 1963, I remember that awful day well. In those days, there were only the three Networks, NBC, CBS and ABC, and all three had no programing other than the Kenndy Assassinastion. We believed what the media told us. There was much the media did not tell us because the government covered things up. We have come a long way from those days. This DVD beautifully lays out the case for Lee Harvey Oswald not being the person who shot Kennedy, inspite of the Warren Commission's assertion that he was the lone gunman. Every history teacher who teaches about this time in American history needs to watch this.

JFK: The Case for Conspiracy.......2007-02-21

This is the most definative presentation of all the Kennedy Assasination materials availble for review. By far the most factual. When all eyewitnesses are interviewed and all the Doctors at Parkland and all the eyewitnesses at the autopsy are heard, there leaves little doubt to the conclusion. There's no fluff just fact. I own all other presentations and the Peter Jennings presentation is on the other end of this spectrum. The 3D animation is so ridicolous and unaccurate relative to the Zappruder Film I can't believe it and neither should you. A cartoon which never accounts for the 3rd bullet hitting the President in the back as shown on Zappruder Film and no interviews with the Parkland Doctors or Bethesda Staff of x-ray teams who say " That's not the x-rays we took." What kind of reporting is that. John Kennedy has been dead a long,long time now and the events that occured the day he died are more than just a compelling story. It's hard, or mabey not so hard, to believe that a grand conspiricy took place because Kennedy had an agenda that did not set well with many people from many powerful places inside and outside government. The mission was accomplished. It dosn't matter who did it but it does matter that more than 1 person did. Although the Congressional Panel concluded that as fact, that's as far and as much as we will ever get. If you want to know what happened and get on with your life, JFK: The Case for Conspiracy, is the only choice if you just want the facts and hear the real eyewitnessees tell the story.

This film is full of information that I havent seen on other JFK films! Its well worth the few dollars I spent for it! So many witnesses present at the autopsy dispute the warren commission report photos its unbelieveable! How does the country still not give us the truth on this matter???

the warren commission set out to investigate the murder of JFK was actually a prosecution attorney against oswald!the fact remains that the govt was never able to prove that oswald posses or handle any weapon on the day of the assasination!they found no immediate fingerprints on the rifle only three days after his death were they able to lift a smudge palm print!highly suspicious???Paul rudy funeral director testified that agents came into the morgue where Oswald was and finger printed him he said he had a tough time removing the ink!!!highly suspicios!!the single bullet theory never happen becaue the throat wound that kennedy sustain was an entry wound and never exited!in fact it was 6 inches below the neck-never exited!as kennedy's cloth prove! when the commission found evidence that contradicted their preconceived conclusion they would ignore the matter all together this habit was repeated through the investigation!!

Calling all Forensic buffs!.......2007-04-10

If you are a CSI or Anthropology nut, you will like this DVD. There is not a lot of blood and gore. Probably the worse part was an image of a dead child whom had been abused. It was very informative and interesting. I plan on purchasing more of these DVDs.

This HBO series is an informative, fact based presentation of evidence from various cases that have passed through the Medical Examiners office. Dr. Michael Baden is one of the top forensic pathologists in the Unites States. His information and views on the cases presented would be an excellent training aid for Police, Fire or EMT's that are going into their respective fields. All in all this is an excellent DVD for anyone that is interested in topics of this nature. Be advised this is not a show for children due to the graphic nature of each case as it appeared at the time of the crime.

I've watched all of the HBO "Autopsy" shows and highly recommend them to anyone who is into forensics. While some stories can be pretty gruesome (and graphic) the way this show is done is incredible! Michael Baden and others have seen it all and it's amazing how they piece together each of the crimes. I've seen all of the episodes and love when the re-runs come on, I can watch this stuff over and over! A MUST SEE for any forensics fan!!

I have also been addicted to this show ever since the first episode on HBO. I have it along with Autopsy 2 on DVD. I can't wait until Autopsy 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 comes to DVD. Michael Baden knows his stuff. I love him. He gets right to the point and is 100% accurate.

Great Film!!.......2007-07-03

I had my doubts about this movie before I purchased it, and I might add it was worth every dollar. The movie is brutal from start to finish, do not let the bad reviews fool you. There is never a dull moment in this movie and in my opinion the opening sequence has to be one of the most gruesome in horror history (Don't believe me see it for yourself!!) Another good thing about the movie is you can really tell just what is going on or who the real villian is because all of the characters are suspect. Check this movie out if your looking for something good.

'ODD-Topsy'.......2007-03-31

When I think 'giallo', I think of a melodramatic Italian soap opera, peppered with a little murder-mystery whodunit stuff and maybe a bloody death scene or two, and loaded with badly-dubbed, forced, awkward dialogue. In this department, "AUTOPSY" is no exception, by the way.

But I love giallo films anyway... there's something charming about the often-hokey presentation and overblown sensationalism that giallo films wallow in. And "AUTOPSY" starts out, in these respects, quite strongly. In fact, the first half of the film contains some of the singularly most disturbing imagery I've seen in this category of movie-making. "AUTOPSY"'s grim opening acts contain all sorts of random suicides, sexual pathos, morbid corpse photography, and macabre hallucinogenic meltdowns. It's quite good, up through the first hour or so. And one of the protagonists of the flick just happens to be an ex-race-car-driver-turned-priest!! Most natural, logical career change in the world, if you ask me.

But what bugs me about "AUTOPSY" is that suddenly it drops all this sleazy, enticing, and actually kinda scary stuff and turns into a standard riff on the Agatha Christie-inspired 'crime-for-profit' scenario we've seen a billion times in the past. In fact, the tonal shift is really jarring, and I suddenly felt as if I'd dreamed the first part of the movie. I was all into "AUTOPSY", and then, quicker than the knife-flash or needle-poke of a mysterious assailant, my hopes crumbled and I was left just sitting through it waiting for it to be over.

If it hadn't been for the let-down conclusion, I'd probably be more enthusiastic, but I still think the FIRST half of "AUTOPSY" warrants a recommendation for fans of wall-to-wall weirdness. The overall DVD presentation is decent, too... so if you DO like giallo movies, then "AUTOPSY" is still worth checking out, I'd say.

Drab.......2007-02-12

Autopsy is an ugly and unpleasant giallo from 1975 that I really didn't enjoy. Starring Mimsy Farmer, it tells the story of a spate of deaths that appear to be suicides but may actually be murders. Farmer plays Simona, a pathologist who has a very troubled personal life, as well as suffering from hallucinations at work, where she occasionally has visions of the corpses waking up! And that's just one confusing strand of a plot which is really hard to follow and much of it is unclear. Endless shots of sun flares keep flashing on the screen in an attempt to add style and intrigue, but this doesn't really work. You'll be hard pushed to make it to the end of the film having understood much of it... well I certainly didn't.

But the film certainly delivers in the gore department, with lots of bloody corpses on display, plus several scenes that give you long glances at (what seem to be) actual medical photgraphs of dissections and murder victims, some of which are extremely disturbing. There's also a fair bit of nudity. What's missing, though, is any sense of joy or tenderness. Main character Simona is in a constant state of paranoia, and none of the other characters seem very happy either. Mimsy Farmer can act reasonably well (although we never get to see her look anything but miserable), but she looks decidedly uncomfortable with being naked, and her lovemaking scenes are unconvincing and poorly done. True, her character does have some intimacy issues, but no tolerance to this is ever seen on screen, in fact every male chararacter in the film pushes Simona around like a sack of potatoes, even her so-called boyfriend. This failing is down to the screenplay which makes no attempts to flesh out the characters beyond simple speaking and doing. They just don't have personalities. Simona even gets sexually assulted at one point by an ultra-sleazy colleague, but this is played out purely for screen thrills (Simona retaliates by stabbing him wildly with a fork), and no mention of the incident is ever made again, or how it actually affects Simona. By the end if the story, I had lost interest in everybody.

To conclude, this is a gory thriller which has trouble engaging on any level other than looking at the screen to see gruesome stuff happening or people getting naked (whether alive or as corpses!). There's just not enough attention payed to character or story development. It's not even particularly nicely filmed. There are plenty of far more effective giallos than this out there, so I would'nt bother spending an hour and a half watching this Autopsy.

This movie *does* need an AUTOPSY.......2002-04-09

This has got to be one of the worst movies I have ever seen. I was expecting a scarey well written horror movie..wrong...What you get is a dimwit main character (Mimsy Farmer) who isn't even attractive and we're subjected to her nudity in some scenes in the film. It has a stupid plot (Ok she's seeing dead people come to life) The film has many chances to capture the audience but fails miserably. The sets [stink], the acting is bogus ..even the set locations are mundane
Stay away *don*t view this autopsy. The whole crew/cast missed the *autopsy* on this piece of [junk], or they all *had* an autopsy while making the film. Don't waste your money

AUTOPSY WITH A BLUNT SCALPEL.......2001-08-27

this so-so "giallo" was directed by ARMANDO CRISPINO, not Josè Marìa Forquè. Set during a sizzling Roman summer, "Autopsy" opens with a grim montage sequence depicting various people committing suicide/homicide. Straight after this we are plunged into a startling episode at the central morgue: as overwrought heroine Mimsy Farmer looks round, grotesquely leering corpses seem to come to life and get up from the slabs. Powerful stuff, but unfortunately the rest of the movie doesn't come up with anything to top it. What follows is an involved, but not very interesting murder mystery, fleshed out with exclusively unlikeable characters - Farmer included - and occasional touches of cruelty. Certain scenes - the deadly trap in the crime museum, for example - are effectively suspenseful, but the tricksy narrative outstays it's welcome long before the 100 minute running time is up. Picture quality, however, is excellent and the DVD includes a trailer for the film under it's official export title, "The Victim". If you're new to the "giallo" and are looking to build up a good collection on DVD, invest your money in films like "The Girl Who Knew Too Much", "Blood and Black Lace", "The Bird With The Crystal Plumage", "Deep Red" and "Torso". "Autopsy" is passable entertainment, but hardly essential.

Another Paul Naschy Classic.......2006-11-30

Werewolf Shadow (A.K.A: The Werewolf v.s. Vampire Woman) is another true classic of Paul Naschy. Decent story line, decent acting and again with the crazy werewolf of Paul Naschy this movie is very good for any horror fan. Again, if you like cheese in your horror, this one is a keeper. Recommended!

My introduction to Waldemar...and Naschy.......2006-07-10

Just a disclaimer...the version I viewed, from the Mill Creek Drive In Classics package, is the cut 82 minute version...here we go...

Paul Naschy stars as tormented lycanthrope Waldamer, who lives in a cottage in the French countryside. Seems the only thing that can give ol Waldy the death he desires is a silver cross used centuries before to vanquish a devil-worshipping vampire Countess. Along come some young Spanish girls who know where her tomb is, and wah-la, Naschy has the cross and the girl who loves him that must deliver the blow. One problem. Seems removing this silver cross raises the Countess from the, uh, undead, and she proceeds to start raising a vampire army and trying to summon Mr. Scratch himself (who appears in a small shadowy cameo late in the picture). These would be bad things. Anyway, the girl who falls for him has another boyfriend, a policeman, who comes calling for her. They get captured by the Countess and all types of heck break loose. Can Waldemar stop her? Will he finally get his eternal rest? Will we get to see some real vampire on werewolf goodness? To the last point, at least in this print, alas, no. But it's still a good film with clunky dubbing. Hope to see the uncut version at some point, and some more Naschy films too. This cat's pretty cool.

Long. Drawn out. Boring. Barely any nudity. A complete waste of time for a 70's horror flick.

Its good to see the Naschy movies being released here in the states (although at a slow pace). This one was long over due as the butchered version known as Werewolf Vs. The Vampire Woman is such a bad print its hardly worth watching. The DVD treatment of Werewolf Shadow is quite good in its uncut/unedited wide screen glory. While these movies are not for everyone there is a following for them. If you are a Naschy fan you will enjoy this one even though Curse Of The Devil is a bit better in my estimation. A werewolf,vampires and nude cuties. Whats not to love?

Paul Naschy has put his heart and soul and imagination into horror movies for decades. Werewolf Shadow is a fine example of what the man is all about. Fun? You bet. Creepy and weird? You got it. Cheesy? Sure is. Passionate? Yep it's that too. Naschy gives another passionate performance here and the tragic and romantic elements of his character make this something special. The quality of the print is damn nice too. The special features help to make this even more of a winner for fans of B-movie horror.

This film has gone by several names, including MALASTRANA (the director's original choice) and PARALYZED. It's one of Barbara Bach's several pre-007 Italian thrillers. I'm undecided whether the American-born Bach, fluent in Italian, dubbed her own voice. As she is the best known in the cast to contemporary American audiences, Bach gets major billing, although she mainly appears in only a few early scenes.

The film opens with a man believed dead who, we soon learn, is alive but paralyzed, his condition unknown to all. Will they bury him alive? Will they perform an autopsy? It's an old conceit invigorated by flashbacks as the man tries to remember how he arrived at his predicament. Intercut with scenes of his paralyzed body being ferried about the hospital, these flashbacks comprise the bulk of the film.

The man (French-born Jean Sorel) turns out to be a Western journalist whose Czech fiancée (Barbara Bach) disappeared, propelling him on a search. Thus, Paralyzed interweaves a medical thriller with a mystery film. Yet because of its mise-en-scene (its Prague setting and black leather jacketed Communist police), it also imparts the sensibility of an espionage thriller. And as the tale progresses, it becomes an occult thriller.

This blend of mystery, foreign intrigue, and the occult has been done elsewhere. Former "Watergate conspirator" and CIA intelligence officer E. Howard Hunt was also a remarkably prolific novelist who published numerous thrillers under various aliases (e.g., David St. John, Gordon Davis, Robert Dietrich), sometimes spicing his novels with the occult (The Coven, The Sorcerers). The X-Files episode, "Musings of a Cigarette-Smoking Man," was inspired by the real-life Hunt.

It's difficult to discuss this film in detail without spoiling the surprise ending. Thematically, it posits a millennia-long exploitation of the freedom-loving young by the Satanic elderly. The film not only features threatening commissars, it depicts old people as inherently scary, a device used in Rosemary's Baby and The Sentinel. In one scene, Jean Sorel sneaks past a decrepit group of Communist Party hacks in evening dress, male and female, listening lifelessly to a slow-moving classical concerto. Their faces are pasty white, reminiscent of the dead souls in Carnival of Souls. This image contrasts starkly with another scene featuring a lively young, long-haired folk singer.

Style-wise, this film is your typical 1970s Euro-thriller. Lots of telephoto shots with shifting focus, heavy use of zoom lens to create energy (the pre-MTV equivalent of a shaky camera and frenetic editing), and badly dubbed dialogue.

A curious and enjoyable film.

A great giallo.......2005-01-01

It was a beautiful day indeed when Anchor Bay released a box set of four classic Italian gialli films. Most fans of Italian horror films know all about these colorful murder mystery pictures-- thanks to Mario Bava, Lucio Fulci, and Dario Argento--but how many of us know about Aldo Lado? Two of his films appear in the boxed set, "Short Night of Glass Dolls" and the impenetrable "Who Saw Her Die?" On the surface, both films look like absolute grand slam winners. We've a killer on the prowl, gruesome murders, red herrings, and a protagonist determined to bring the guilty to justice. Lado also gives us point of view shots from the killer's perspective, an evil and powerful conspiracy working behind the scenes, and style wafting off the screen in waves. Yep, "Who Saw Her Die?" and "Short Night of Glass Dolls" are definitely gialli in most respects. The latter film measures up well when compared to the giants of the genre. "Short Night of Glass Dolls" approaches the greatness of Argento's epic films "Deep Red" and "Tenebre," and compares just as well to Lucio Fulci's massively entertaining "Don't Torture a Duckling." "Glass Dolls" is definitely a better picture than "Who Saw Her Die?"

Whereas "Who Saw Her Die?" took place in Venice, "Short Night of Glass Dolls" is set in Prague, Czechoslovakia. As the film opens, we see a groundskeeper finding the lifeless body of a journalist named Gregory (Jean Sorel) in a dense thicket. Not surprisingly, he calls in the authorities, who arrive and move the body to the local morgue in the hopes of discovering its identity and the cause of death. But Gregory, we soon learn, is not dead. Rather, he is in a cataleptic state as a result of an injection brought about by an odd series of events. The journalist tells us his story as the doctors examine his body before removing it to a freezer pending further investigation. At one point a doctor friend of the reporter arrives to identify the body, and expresses astonishment when he notices that Gregory's temperature seems much higher than it should be. This doctor even attempts to revive his friend since cases supposedly exist where someone who appeared dead did in fact wake up. Alas, there are also cases where a deceased individual's temperature remained elevated for some time after death. Thus it comes as no great disappointment when the attempts fail to bring the reporter back to life. It is an enormous disappointment to Gregory, however. Especially when they wheel him in for his autopsy...

The story behind this man's condition is an odd one, full of danger, intrigue, and a conspiracy to take over the world in order to install a new morality. It all started when Gregory's wife Mira (Barbara Bach) arrived on a visit and promptly disappeared. His friends at his place of employment, Jessica (Ingrid Thulin) and a Scottish reporter named Jack (Mario Adolf), do what they can to assist Greg in his time of despair. Since he's a reporter, it is inevitable that he will launch a full-scale investigation on his own to find out what happened to his woman. What follows is typical giallo, as a murderer (sans black gloves, oddly enough) starts wiping out people around Gregory. His friend Jack, for instance, soon falls prey to the murderer when his investigations on behalf of his pal set off alarm bells somewhere. Anyone who gets too close to the horrific truth risks his or her life, most of all Gregory when he uncovers the people behind Mira's abduction. A cult of elderly people, black magic, sacrifice, and a mess of glass dolls (yes, the title hints at a significant element in the film's resolution) lead directly to that injection which left our reporter friend in an irreversible state. "Short Night of Glass Dolls" ends on a note of utter hopelessness. This is one bleak film.

In an interview entitled "Strange Days of the Short Night," Aldo Lado discusses the reasons for making the film. In the true spirit of the age--meaning the 1960s and 1970s--Lado lensed a picture that took a scathing look at the wealthy old European elites. These are the figures involved in his black magic cult in "Short Dolls," and their abduction and corruption of the young mirrors the perception among youths of the time regarding their elders. The idea that a dark, evil plot lurked behind the façade of great power must have appealed to adherents of the counterculture. There is also an irony in the fact that this group indulges in scandalous behavior behind closed doors, behavior that they publicly profess to despise in the culture at large. Lado claims he used retirees living in a nursing home as actors in these scenes, and that they attacked their roles with gusto! Those Italians! Predictably, the conspiratorial nature of the film and the risqué final scenes brought Lado into direct conflict with censors. "Who Saw Her Die?" suffered a similar fate thanks to scenes involving violence directed at children. Lado seems to relish, even all these years later, the controversies his films sparked.

Anchor Bay provides another stellar DVD release. The picture and sound quality are good for a film this old, and they even throw in the trailer for the movie and a director's filmography along with the interview. I'm elated that I am finally seeing these sorts of films. This box set is an excellent addition to any horror film buff's DVD library, and the news that Anchor Bay will release a second set of four more Italian gialli is an exciting development. "Short Night of Glass Dolls" is an excellent way to spend a couple of hours.

Not good.......2003-06-29

Admittedly the idea of narrator being a corpse is a very intriguing hook for a film. Thus Lado's debut begins with much promise. It seems to have the makings of a fine giallo. Where it completely and utterly tanks, however, is in the gialloness itself, for this isn't a giallo so much as it is a conspiracy story dressed up in the thinnest Hitchcockian device of a vanishing girl. To me, what makes giallos so fun and fascinating to watch is the sheer edginess of the violence and sex. You will find none of this here, except for an atrocious orgy scene. There really isn't even that much of a body count to provide an added element of menace-come to think of it, aside from the dead narrator, there really wasn't anything menacing about this movie. The climax and unravelling are both a joke: Lado couldn't seriously expect any view to swallow the kind of world domination theory he was trying to shroud his film in. He'd of done better trying to marginalize the threat/'menace' in the film as was done in a far superior manner with the Prisoner television series (when our hero was spinning in a chair and getting freaked out looking at a chandelier) where the setting was a tiny village in a remote and isolated location. Finally, could somebody please explain the title? I don't remember any reference to a glass doll at any part of the story. If it's a metaphor, then both it and the title have to be the mother of all cinematic non-sequitors.

Recommended for horror/detective fans.......2002-08-13

An unusual and challenging horror/suspense film. Great concept, story line, editing, and overall wallop. Not much like a traditional giallo. Only downside is the dubious dubbing and sometimes awkward foreign dialogue, but if you're used to the genre, it's not too bad. This original film deserves a bigger audience. This deserves a place with the best of Italian horror/fantasy cinema.

rare giallo.......2002-07-08

An interesting debut from director Aldo Lado.An unusual plot is brought to life with some striking visuals and another memorable Ennio Morricone score(though not as haunting as his music for Lado's Who saw her die.)
The film is a little too talky in places but is punctuated with some great scenes of superbly edited action.
This more fantastical than usual giallo is definitely worth a look.Another great transfer too from Anchor bay.

Yellow Jackets Not Bees.......2007-02-02

A firm is testing a new bug killer and accidentally creates two extra-mean and extra-toxic wasps. One is killed right away but the other manages to escape and kill. The new bug killer is not doing too well. Then a sample of the stuff gets used in the field and a whole new batch of the beasties is created. These creatures are meaner than usual and their attack pheromones help draw other, less lethal, yellow jackets to join the swarm.

Meanwhile the town is planning a big national cooking competition to determine the greatest hamburger. Apparently yellow jackets are drawn to raw meat. A lot is riding on the festival and a number of characters will do anything to make sure it goes on without a hitch. So finally we have a scientist, a sexy entomologist, an exterminator and a cop as the only defense we have against the killer swarm. The action culminates at the festival and we have the movie's finale.

This one is bad. It bears some resemblance to The Deadly Swarm but just does a lot of weird stuff. The special effects are not in line with the plot. The bug killer should kill 75% yet the field test results in more live yellow jackets than the nest should be able to hold. This is the first-annual cook-off but the press interviews the previous year's winner. Smoke causes a hive to wake up while in reality smoke is used to sedate them. Finally, it is almost laughable to see these yellow jackets actively fly into flaming barbeque grills (the flames have no effect on them although it is later used as a weapon). Countless other silly bits abound. Check out the minuscule barbell the Mayor needs a spotter's help with. All in all a fun movie to heckle but one that makes little sense.

Good little movie.......2006-08-04

If you like these types of movies, you will not regret this one.
Its really pretty good, has a story and characters that you
will love/hate. The effects are decent and if you ever saw a swarm
fly buy, it will bring back some memories when you see the swarms
flying in the movie which makes the movie even better.
The only problem is with the lame ending...but heck you cant
win them all. Give it a shot....

BIZZY BEEZ.......2006-05-21

Bees have never looked as vicious as they do in this made for SCIFI CHANNEL movie. Although the plot is derivative and the acting fairly mundane, SWARMED is a creepy tale of genetically charged bees with killer venom and stings. Michael Shanks from STARGATE 1 looks bored in his role as the scientist responsible for the mutations and former model Carol Alt tries hard to look ditzy, but only manages to look stupid..sorry, Carol. There are some creepy bee attacks, a Will Smith wannabe and the always watchable Tim Thomerson as the king of the Barbecue Sauce.
It's pretty farfetched and has an ending that defies logic, but it's fun anyway.

Enjoyable.......2006-04-19

I watched the show specifically because I am a Stargate fan. I like the Daniel(played by Michael Shanks) character, but this isn't Daniel. He's a stupid man who lets a scourge out onto the world. The special affects are creepy, especially the mayor's eyes. Tim Thomerson as the meat magnet is as pomous as you can get, yet he jumps into some water. Of course, the bees chase him down.
This is a fun movie and that is why I gave it a 4. It's not super movie like "The Godfather", or "Gone With the Wind", it's just fun.

A solid TV movie.......2006-03-30

This is yet another fine made for tv movie. Ok the genre is certainly not new but it also never gets old either.

A couple of genecticall engineered wasps escape from a research lab and threaten the well being of an entire town which just happens to have a major event just around the corner. As bodies pill up Two scientist and a professional bug man must stop this deadly swarm before things get worse.

Throw in the greedy police chief and an ambitious and also greedy mayor and you have a very good film .

I recommend this.

This French documentary shuns the usually sleazy world of mondo docs like "Faces of Death" and tries to show how different parts of the world view death.

The major problem here is that time and time again, the three directors slip into shocking footage, and the unshocking footage is especially dull.

The film opens with an American preparing a body for embalming. We then switch to a very long segment in Thailand, as a family prepares to bury a dead relative. The grandmother lies in a hut for three days, decomposes, and is finally buried, but not before we witness the graphic killing of four oxen.

The film makers also visit Belgium, Nepal, and South Korea, juxtaposing scenes between what we would consider shocking treatment of the dead, and scenes of how Americans treat their terminally ill and dying.

The film makers rally around their point, saying "see, we are not all that different," and then proceeds to grind the viewers face into this boring little statement for an hour and forty five minutes.

After some interviews with some American muscular dystrophy patients, who talk about how they want to be buried or cremated, the film makers unwisely show a Filipino revolutionary executed by a former friend, before being dumped into a shallow grave.

"Death" is kind of a big topic to trim into a little documentary. There is no narrator or central idea, save the "we aren't so different" rigamarole, so scenes drag on forever in between the carnage.

If you like those shockumentaries like "Faces of Death," God have mercy on your soul and I feel sorry for you. But not half as sorry as I am for renting this mess. I do not recommend the deadening dull "Des Morts."

This is not rated, but contains strong graphic physical violence, strong graphic gore, male nudity, sexual references, and strong graphic adult situations. Remember, all the footage here is real, and children (and most adults) should not view this.

Better than Faces of Death........2000-12-20

Des Morts (Of the Dead) is one of the better "Faces of Death" type films. Unlike the other films of this type, the footage in this film is all real. It doesn't just deal with graphic scenes of death, it deals with rare rituals that have to deal with death. Des Morts isn't too graphic, but it shouldn't be left out for little kids to view or anything. The video is really well done, and any fan of gore should own this film.

There is no way anyone should buy this video. If there was the 0-stars-drop-kick-this-video I'd pick it. All scenes are professionally done...when I mean professional I am not hinting at any form of talent whatsoever..I mean not real amatuer like the box promises. Pathetic plots, effects, and length make this the most pathetic shockumentary of all time. the end.

I remember the night FOX television aired this so-called Alien Autopsy. I thought it was the best comedy show FOX had on at the time. Living Colour would go on to change my mind. I remember thinking while watching this, that anyone in Government wouldn't have let a moron hold the camera- because of all the out of focus shots, shakey angles, etc. I remember also thinking that if this was in fact a real Alien Autopsy, there would have been real scientists present, not some bozo who clearly didn't use the right medical equipment in their procedure- I'm no expert at manual instrumental operations but I'm a factory worker and even I know a scapel from a fork. But here's the good news: the people who made this hoax came forward and admitted it was all a joke. Duh. Americans had to be told this?! There were people who believed that this autopsy was for real?! No way, I told myself. We can't have that many stupid people out there that are so desperate to find some kind of meaning in their life that they would believe a rubber doll was an actual alien. But.... there are. And that's sad. Real sad. So buy this if you want to watch one of the greatest hoaxes ever televised on national television- another great american hoax would be Bush's rally speech following 9-11.

Not real but fun to watch.......2007-01-05

Twenty years ago I was a Motion Picture Specialist in the US Marine Corps. There are rules for documenting high profile and secret events and situations. Specifically you lock your camera down on a tripod with the best angle of view to the subject as possible. You hold the shot and always work toward clarity.

Had this been a visual documentation of such an event the protocol would have been to cover everything as steadily, clearly and in focus at all times. Handheld or on tripod. There would have been no shaky or out of focus camera work and each "organ part" would have been carefully and clearly presented to the camera (multiple cameras would have been likely had this been a real event) for documentation and future study. Camera guys back then we far better at hand held filming than any non-feature film operator today. There was a lot of discipline involved when shooting handheld back then. The camera work in the Autopsy video was clearly shot to make it hard to see what was happening on the operating table. The exact opposite of what would have happened had such an event taken place.

I'm a civilian now and I do a lot of operating theater video work with surgeons. They have always been more than helpful in providing the camera with a clean clear shot of whatever procedure I'm filming. Military officers doubly so as they understand the importance of proper documentation.

BTW, during the visual documentation of something as important as the discovery of an alien life form there would assuredly be not only multiple film cameras but still photographers using large format film as well. Lastly, the motion picture camera and film would have been color 35mm not black and white 16mm.

I'm a Jonathan Frakes fan so I say buy it so he gets his royalty check besides it's a hoot to watch but please don't try to pretend it's real.

Yes It's Real.......2006-05-14

I think we can assume that this video is real. The video speaks for itself. The burden of proof is on those who say it's a hoax.

However we are left with the dilemna that a race of beings that are advanced enough to travel through outer space would not crash their space ships on the earth.

So how can we account for this apparent discrepancy of logic ?

The answer is that these creatures are evil.

I read an interview given by the camera man. He said the sheep in the area around the crash site were very agitated. This is probably because the animals could sense the horrible occult energy.

(He calls the alien creatures "the freaks".)

Still this is a great video and very thought provoking. Somehow fate allowed us to find out the truth about the Roswell incident.

Interestingly the creatures have 6 fingers and 6 toes. The number 6 of course has implications in the bible as being associated with evil.

Who knows what the government knows or what types of technology they have.

I heard a rumor recently that a plane never struck the pentagon on 9/11 but rather it was a conventional missile.

Maybe they put the real plane back with the dinosaurs or something like this.

A lot of people interested in the Roswell crash would probably be interested in the following book:

This book is not about alien abductions, UFOs crashing, etc..

Amazing documentary of a Controversial Subject.......2006-03-21

Watched this video a couple of nights ago. Incredible--not only was this documentary very well "balanced", it opens up new questions into aliens that I'd never even thought of before.

For the reviewer R2xA, who titled his/her review "missing footage", I bought this DVD never expecting to see the "complete film." Nowhere on the package or product info did I find a reference to the whole unabridged film. It, however, is not a "special feature"-----it is instead a "continuation" of the documentary. As soon as the TV program ends, and the credits run, the DVD goes directly into the "autopsy film." Unless Lion's Gate made two separate and distinct DVDs, you'll find the whole ugly thing in its entirety!
This almost 20 minutes of film is set to a rather well done stereo music track!

The DVD package says the run time is 48 minutes. Believe me, its almost 20 minutes LONGER THAN THAT! Don't know if that was an error in printing--or if they didn't want anyone to know that footage was there!?!

Totally amazing!

If you have any interest at all in UFO lore, this DVD will "put your mind right!"

Interesting sidelight: I visited the Mayan TULUM ruins in Mexico, a few hours away from Cancun, a couple of years ago. Over some of the entrances to the various stone buildings were handprints, apparently in blood?, but the hands had six fingers! --An unknown phenonomen.
In this documentary, the alien has six fingers. Coincidence?

I'd heard before that there is a theory that extraterrestrials had long ago visited Earth and shared their technology with ancient civilizations. Could this be a clue?

Beats the hell out of me.

Watch, study, and decide for yourself!

Missing Footage.......2006-01-13

I'll make no claims as to whether or not this documentary features actual footage of a real autopsy on a real extraterrestrial being, but I will say this: this DVD includes only the TELEVISION DOCUMENTARY "Alien Autopsy: Fact Or Fiction?". The VHS and LaserDisc releases from the mid/late 1990's included the documentary, plus the complete "autopsy film" as a bonus feature. Why it's not included here is anyone's guess, but this omission prevents the DVD from being the ultimate, scholarly representation of the film.
