The Mystery of Egypt

Editorial Review:
Description
Around 7000 years ago, a change in climate caused the Libyan and Arabian deserts to evolve from what was once savannah. The Nile Valley survived to form the longest river on our earth. It flows through the wide Nile Delta into the Mediterranean Sea along 4232 miles. When the river overflowed its banks, good fertile soil matured. This is reflected in the Egyptian's name for their country - Kemet - black land. A river and a desert have played a significant part in forming the landscape and character of the oldest civilization on our planet - Egypt - one of the mystical paradises.

love all of them.......2007-06-08
these movies are great to watch with the whole family. my 11 and 9 year olds love charlie Chan. these old black and white mystery movies are great quality and well done
Oldy but a Goodie.......2007-06-08
I am an old movie buff, especially mysteries. No need for all the modern tech stuff for enjoyment. This collection was great!
Not epic classics but ............2007-05-07
In a word the Charlie Chan series of movies are FUN. The Warner Oland movies are a cut above the others. The often used (and often made up)Chinese proverbs quoted by Charlie provide a lot of humor. Even more humor is evident after Keye Luke was added. I found it interesting that several of the movies managed to work in some of the cutting edge technology of the day. i.e. The photocell timing at the race track, the FAX-like transmission of pictures. It is easy to see why the series was so popular in their day and remain so.
Warner Oland's Charlie Chan with Great Special Features.......2007-05-06
Earl Derr Bigger's Charlie Chan was finally successfully brought to the screen by Warner Oland. This box set has Oland's 5th - 8th appearances as the detective. This set could be called Charlie Chan's world tour as he visits London, Paris, Cairo and Shanghai.
Like all detective serial movies, the plots are all different but they are all the same. Its just that Charlie has a classy way of doing things. He always does things with intelligence and style. Whether solving a case at an English country house, finding who has been forging bank bonds in Paris, who has been stealing the treasure from the tomb in Egypt or the murderer in Shanghai, Charlie / Warner always got his man.
But what makes this set special is are the special features. Three of the movies have featurettes about the origins of Charlie Chan and each is very interesting and gives great insight into the character.
The forth has a spanish language version of Charlie Chan Carries On. In the 30's the studios would make duplicate versions of movies for the foriegn markets, usually South America. These were made using the same sets as the English versions but with a Spanish cast. In this film they use a photo of Charlie's family but Oland is in the picture not the Spanish actor! (If you get Garbo's Anna Christie, it has the German version with Garbo but the rest of the cast replaced by German actors.)
These special features make this set better than just the films alone. Thanks for the extra content!!
Charlie's back!.......2007-04-09
I've always loved the old 30's, 40's & 50's mysteries especially Charlie Chan, Mr. Moto and Sherlock Holmes. This set starts Warner Oland which in my opinion is the better Charlie between himself and Sidney Toler. To my knowledge, Oland made eight films and Toler made six. Set #1 includes CC in London, CC in Paris, CC in Egypt and CC in Shanghai. Each film has been beautifully restored and have never appeared any better. It's as if they were filmed yesterday. A must see! I own set #2 and Chantology starring Sidney Toler and featuring his six Chan films. I loved them all.

A lesson in Egyptian history and some serious archaeological sleuthing are on the agenda in Scooby Doo: Where's My Mummy. Velma's sphinx restoration project quickly becomes a dangerous mission for Scooby Doo and the gang when a buried staircase leading to Cleopatra's tomb is unearthed and the curse of Cleopatra is resurrected. Faced with the fall of the River Nile, a desert on the rise, a newly awakened army of the dead, a ruthless treasure hunter and the threat of being instantly turned to stone, the gang sets off to explore Cleopatra's tomb. Things go awry when Velma gets turned into stone and Scooby and Shaggy get cut off from Fred and Daphne. In an odd turn of events, it's Shaggy and Scooby who persevere to solve the mysteries of the fallen river and the army of the dead. Bonus features include a National Geographic segment that offers some basic Egyptian history and information about King Tutankhamun's tomb, a "Mummy Rap" music video, a look at the celebrity voices behind the characters, deleted scenes, and an interactive "Escape from the Ankh Chamber" game. Scooby Doo - Still Standing At Chapter 9!.......2006-04-08
When "Scooby Doo On Zombie Island" came out in 1998, I doubt many people thought Scooby Doo would make it up to this 9th movie. Scooby may actually hold the record as far as good sequels go. This may be because there is the gang we all know and love for consistency, but there is a different adventure everytime. No one story is ever just repeated. The original "Star Trek" movies also did very well in this category, but even they only made it up to Chapter 6. If you follow my reviews, you know I think "Zombie Island" (# 1) and "Witch's Ghost" (# 2) were the two best. I didn't much like "Alien Invasion" (# 3) or "Cyber Chase."(# 4) I thought "Legend of the Vampire" (# 5) was really good. "Monster of Mexico" (# 6) was decent at best. "Loch Ness Monster" (# 7) was a decent watch. "Aloha Scooby Doo" (# 8) was surprisingly good. Well, onto chapter 9. It grabs our attention with a flashback of Cleopatra. This is a good technique. For not only does it set the mood, but it allows us some ambiguity. (Is the curse staged? Or is it possibly real?) Well, part of the curse seems real at first. Moving on, Velmah is off doing some work in Egypt with a friend, and of course in a typical Scooby fashion, she is reunited with her gang. After the initial ice breaking, we soon meet the antagonists of this story. (A team of so called archeologists who are really thieves. Yes. The famous Indiana Jones was often thought of as this, but we won't go there.) Well, this gang of thieves basically wants to loot the tomb of Cleopatra. Additional elements of Cleopatra's curse start to come true. (Real or not?) There are several old touches with new twists. Poor Scooby and Shaggy get lost, but in a twist of fate, they find their own fan club. At first we may think this is a silly irrelevant subplot, but in the end we see it certainly isn't. I can't say much more without ruining the movie for you, but even at chapter 9, Scooby gives us enough familiar things and enough new twists. The different subplots of the movie come together surprisingly well, and we are offered a surprise twist ending that will make us want to see the movie again with hindsight. I'll conclude by saing that I seriously doubt that any other series can boast of standing this strong at 9 movies. Scooby Doo, please come back for chapter 10 soon!
Great Scooby Movie for kids and adults.......2006-03-29
When my 3.5 yr old fell in love with Scooby, I decided to rent DVD's instead of buying (after purchasing every Thomas the Tank engine ones, that he no longer will watch...I learned :)
Anyway we rented this one and after having it for a week, we went out the very day we returned it and bought it. The story line is very good and truly I had no idea who the "bad guy" was. The music was good and the special feature rap video is hilarious.
After seeing all the Scooby movies so far, this is the one we just HAD to buy.
Good movie.......2006-03-12
My son likes this Scooby Doo movie. It's kind of scary for young children but older kids will like it.

For almost the first half of Death on the Nile, any viewer who hasn't read Agatha Christie's intricate mystery won't be wondering who-done-it--instead, it's who's-it-going-to-be. The movie, from the television series Agatha Christie's Poirot, swiftly lays out a panoply of enjoyably odious personalities, from the American heiress who stole her best friend's fiance to the snotty, unkempt radical thinker to the boozing gargoyle of a pulp novelist named Salome Otterbourne, any of whom could be a suitable victim. Puttering amongst this mix of fops and harridans is Christie's most popular creation, the fastidious Belgian detective, Hercule Poirot, played with exquisite precision by David Suchet (The Way We Live Now). Once the murder occurs, Poirot sets to work sifting through red herrings and petty deceits to unravel the truth. The crisp script and vigorous editing of this adaptation of Death on the Nile (a previous star-studded version from 1978 starred Peter Ustinov as Poirot) are at their best in the first half, zipping from catty remarks to petty bickering to fussy grumbles, deftly planting clues with the skill of a magician's misdirection. Once the interrogations and searches begin, the movie feels hemmed in. But through it all Suchet, with his beady eyes glittering from under his heavy lids, drives the mystery forward with his magnetic portrayal. --Bret Fetzer
Description
Tony Award nominee David Suchet returns to his celebrated role as Hercule Poirot in a lavish A&E adaptation of the Agatha Christie classic--DEATH ON THE NILE. When Linnet Doyle, the richest woman in London, steals and marries her best friend's fiancé, the
Customer Reviews:
Poirot should have detected this remake really Sucked........2007-01-17
Really rushed and other than Suchet ... the acting was terrible by most of the cast..
A favorite of mine........2006-07-19
Death on the Nile is an adaptation from one of the longer novels of A. Christie. Death...was adapted in the 70s, but if you want the truth, that movie sucked. And it sucked because of Mia Farrow and Peter Ustinov. David Suchet is the only actor to portray Hercule Poirot greatly and naturally. Ustinov and Finney both seemed either too stiff or ill-fit for the character we grew to know and love by reading the books.
The A&E version of the story is thoroughly enjoyable and is my favorite A&E Poirot movie. The story itself is ingenious and the guilty could have easily gotten away with it if not for a couple of eye witnesses and of course, the little grey cells of Poirot.
Not as good as the film.......2006-01-02
I am a great admirer of David Suchet's Poirot, but I found this production disappointing. Despite being filmes in Egypt with breathtaking scenery, most of the touches of warmth and humour that make a Christie novel such a pleasure to read are missing from this production. The three young people in the love triangle that is the basis for the mystery all seemed to me entirely lacklustre.
The worst thing of all though, is that two of the most charming and interesting people in the book, Timothy Allerton and his delightful mother, have had their characters grotesquely distorted until they bear virtually no resemblance to their originals, and there is a quite gratuitous and disgusting implication of an incestuous relationship between them which is certainly not implied in any way in Agatha Christie's novel. The girl who, in the book, Timothy Allerton loves, has had her character changed and subdued until she barely makes any impact on the story at all.
All this makes this a very disappointing production. The Ustinov film is better.
Missing Maggie............2005-04-13
Poirot - DEATH ON THE NILE. The new Poirot series produced by A&E is excellent and I would encourage all Poirot and David Suchet fans to purchase these DVDs, however, when it comes to this particular story, I still prefer the Peter Ustinov version with Mia Farrow, Betty Davis and Maggie Smith.
The irony of the new series is that Suchet has literally grown into the part so he seems more natural in this episode than ever. I recall that when he made the earlier Poirot films which included his pal Captain Hastings and counterpart Inspector Japp, Suchet was padded with pillows and makeup to make him appear older. Now he apparently fills the role with no `extra' assistance from wardrobe.
In spite of the inevitable comparison with the Ustinov interpretation and missing the pals in whom he confided and who often aided his crime solving, I enjoyed this story very much. The filmography is beautiful. The BBC uses lavish sets including the river boat and costumes. The original film with Ustinov showed a good deal of actual footage shot in Egypt. This issue of `Death on the Nile' appears to have some shots in Egypt, but to tell you the truth, they could have shot most of the film elsewhere...for example Central or South America. Population growth and war have altered the terrain in Egypt considerably since Agatha Christie wrote her novel, which takes place around the 1930s.
Mediocre Mystery Movie !.......2005-02-09
Even though I own most of the "Poirot Offerings" starring David Suchet owing to my affinity for Agatha Christie's work,I still maintain that "Peter Ustinov" is by far more at home in "Poirot's" shoes as evident by his inimitable performences as the belgian eccentric/sleuth over the years.particularly in the "Death on the Nile"(1978).And having said that, the latest addition to A&E's Poirot caper of the same name featuring Suchet is unfortunately "Toothles and Meandering" at best.In short,If you already own the Original ( Ustinov )version, then don't even bother spending your hard-earned on this trite.

Description
LOVED BY A KING. HATED BY AN EMPIRE. ERASED FROM HISTORY. SHE COULD BE THE BIGGEST FIND SINCE KING TUT. Has the famed Egyptian beauty, Queen Nefertiti, been found in a secret chamber deep in the Valley of the Kings? A Discovery Channel Quest expedition, led by Dr. Joann Fletcher and a team of internationally renown scientists from the University of York Mummy research Team, hopes to find out. If they're right, the finding will be one of the greatest archaeological discoveries since Nefertiti's stepson - King Tutankhamen - was discovered in 1922. "Great Royal Wife" of the "renegade" pharaoh Akhenaten, Nefertiti was a mother of six who helped lead a religious revolution that changed Egypt and the world forever. Yet after her death, her enemies destroyed all evidence of Nefertiti's life. Now, drawing on 13 years of research, Fletcher and her team bring Nefertiti's turbulent reign to life as never before using cutting-edge computer animations to recreate ancient Egypt's great temples; x-rays to reveal the telltale signs of foul play on her mummy; and forensic graphics to recreate the mummy's face. Have they found the ancient world's greatest beauty?

interesting .......2007-01-06
I have actually enjoyed it.
interesting.
I guess we all look alike when we die.
All bones.
I wonder where Akhenatens body is?And what have they done with Nefertiti's REAL body.so many mysteries.
eventually it was a male not a female after the dna tests done in cairo.
I would watch it again.
just like watching a movie.
Back in the Box.......2006-06-19
I just read that Joann Fletcher got banned from doing Egyptology in Egypt because she didn't follow Zahi "Zowie" Hawass' procedure of letting him announce everything. He does indeed appear in the video, making quite reasonable remarks about how there's no evidence in favor of Fletcher's thesis. Kent Weeks, excavator of KV5, also appears, suggesting that her claim isn't that farfetched, but that it will have to wait for better technology in coming years to rule it in or out. That is also reasonable.
The real reason to watch this video is to laugh and laugh and laugh. Fletcher has an unfounded belief that she has found the mummy of Nefertiti; she refuses to be convinced otherwise; she takes every single disconfirmation (which is every test performed for this video, other than her own subjective views about the mummy's hairstyle and ear piercings) in stride, getting more and more wild-eyed, and making one unsubstantiated claim after another.
Perhaps my favorite is her trip to the unfinished tomb of Akhenaten -- Fletcher stands at the head of what would have been the sarcophagus and claims that Nefertiti stood there and conducted the rites for her dead husband. Fletcher also refers to Akhenaten as "such a terrible politician" and grants Nefertiti entirely imaginary characteristics and abilities.
All existing evidence shows that Nefertiti predeceased Akhenaten. It's possible that her tomb was plundered shortly after her death and the end of the 18th dynasty, as a gold artifact bearing her name was found on the Ulu Burun wreck. There is a modern drive to turn Nefertiti into some kind of feminist anachronism and have her rule as a man. Fletcher appears to subscribe to that view, but gives no attribution for or reference to its originator.
A case can be made that Marianne Luban originated Fletcher's premise (see Luban's website, and the Archaeology magazine review of this video for more); according to Mark Rose, Luban started a lawsuit, but dropped it subsequent to seeing how badly received the broadcast was.
Two stars -- the video is a work of fiction being passed off as fact, but c'mon, you'll get to see the insides of tombs currently (and for the foreseeable) closed to the public, and have a really good laugh at the expense of Joann Fletcher and the Discovery Channel.
another good forensic analysis for fake historical events!.......2006-06-01
This movie is another good forensic analysis and very poor historical bases by discovery channel; the first one was "Rameses: a wrath of God or man? and found it a good forensic analysis for a fake story. The movie is based on the discovery of a mummy in the kings valley(a place serves as ancient Egyptians kings/queens tombs in the west side of the Nile River, upper Egypt). Dr. Joann, a professor of archeology did her best to prove that mummy is for Queen Nefertiti. The professor provided very refutable evidences to support support the claim that "Mummy X" is for the Queen Nefertiti. Moreover, the professor refused very clear evidences against her claim.
First, Nefertiti was the sole wife of Akhenaton and had already died, more accurately assassinated, before Akhenaten death. Second, more likely akhenaten married another wife after Nefertiti as some archaeological evidences indicated. Since Akhenaten left Thebes, the religious capital of ancient Egypt, and built his own city in Tal Al-Amerna. Thus, Nefertiti had more likely been buried in the Tel-Amerna NOT in Thebes(given that the sequences of the evidences that I described are correct)! Akhenaten refused the ancient Egyptian gods and forsaken the the ancient Egyptian religious traditions, especially those of after death. Thus, it is not acceptable that he contradicted himself and buried his wife according to rites that he refused! According to the movie, Akhenaten had been passed away first and Nefertiti became the Egyptian ruler after her husband! Also the movie showed that the second wife of Akhenaten during Nefertiti's life and considered that wife the mother of king Tautankh-(amun)_this means king tout was the son of Akhenaten!! what are the proofs for such claims!!!! Finally, the movie showed Nefertiti as a very powerful woman, even stronger than her husband Akhenaten(you can say similar to Queen Ti(the mother of akhenaten and the wife of Amenhope III) or Hatshibsout(the female pharaoh who ruled Egypt)!!!!!!. Again, what are the proofs for such interesting claims!! As Dr. Hawas, the Egyptian director of ancient Egyptian archeology, commented on the discovery of that mummy and said" nobody can affirm that Mummy X is for Nefertiti unless DNA fingerprint affirms such claim", we have to wait for such accurate test to confirm the identity of the mummy X. Also, the stories that the movie showed about the great queen Nefertiti require concrete evidences; Not just imaginations.! The movie mentioned repeatedly that Akhenaten was worshiping the sun disk. This is also very weak understanding of Akhenaten principles of the monotheism; the images on the wall of the ancient Egyptian temples show Akhenaten and his followers supplicating to the sun, this is true. However, the images also show the sun rays ending with hands. As if the images indicating that the sun Guide akhenaten and his followers to the real creator of the universe. you can return the the great hymn(written by Akhenaten himself to make sure that Akhenaten was not worshiping the sun disk itself!) Highly recommended for people interested in forensic medicine, NOT for those interested in real archeological discoveries!
Egyptology Buffs Beware!.......2006-01-18
This movie is very insightful, you find yourself learning a lot about the queen, the era and what is current in Egyptology. The movie was very interesting, not at all like many documentaries. My students even really enjoyed it, what more could a teacher want!?!
Magnificent.......2005-12-31
It is true when people write that there is nothing CONCLUSIVE presented in this wonderful documentary, but then again, they never claim that they have found all the answers and maintain clearly the idea that this theory is just that-a theory. They present the evidence, and let you decide.
Some great things about this picture:
1. The narrator is WONDERFUL! She clearly is interested in this subject and has a very dramatic and exotic sounding voice that keeps the viewer interested and paying attention. Her intonation is very dramatic (if not a little too much), and the script is extremely well written, as well as the timing and concordance with the images and the lines.
2. The recreations of Nefertiti and her life are wonderful with great accurate costumes and accurate, beautiful reacreations of Thebes, Karnak, the Sun Temples, and Amarna. The dazzling reconstructions are spectacular and really give the viewer a feel for the times.
3. The documentary contains SO MUCH information about the Amarna period, before, during and after, and about Amenhotep III, Nefertiti, Akhenaten, and Tutankhamun. The makers really did their researchers and a lot can be learned from this picture.
4. No unfair assumptions are made, and everything is treated with a purely academic touch. They repeat that most "facts" about the Amarna Period are actually educated guesses, and present multiple theories for most major events.
A couple things I didn't like:
1. The ending: it was a little sappy with her coming back to life and riding into Thebes, but other than that the movie remained relatively straightforward and down to earth.
2. The clip scanning the actress playing Nefertiti from the waist up, then when reaching her facing, showering her opening her eyes dramatically- it was too overplayed, and used too much.
Other than those small and insignificant details I have no complaints! I greatly recommend this to anyone interested in Egyptian history and the Amarna Period, and this wonderful figure in history. Well worth the money. A jewel.

Train Ride Is The REAL DEAL!.......2006-08-14
This movie was an excellent tale of the reality happening on college campuses and other venues as well. It is a true eye opener that tugs at the heart and made me very concerned about the lack of morality among this generation and the need for more positive role models. I am going to spread the word because everyone needs to see this movie, especially teens and young adults. There is a great lesson to be learned and I pray that someone will take heed. Carolyn aka Bunny in Philly
Train Ride.......2006-07-09
Everyone should see this movie. Especially if you have young children who are 'growing-up' in this crazy world. It was an eye-opener for me, in fact after watching the movie, I had this feeling of concern. Concerned if my nieces and God Children and friend's kids are actually aware of what is happening out there, just by hanging out with your friends. Friends who you thought you knew and trusted. I'm not going to give the story away, just BUY and WATCH this MOVIE.... Rel Dowdell and his team did a great job of 'telling it like it is' with taste. A very educational film.
DUKE UNIVERSITY RIGHT NOW!!!!.......2006-05-06
Yo! The filmmaker of this joint had some serious foresight. EVERYONE AT DULE UNIVERSITY should be made to watch this. This film could have saved them much embarassment and shame. Now that school's reputation will never be the same. People don't think that the things that happen in "Train Ride" can happen anywhere else, but it does. "Train Ride" takes place at a fictional black college, but as you can plainly see with the current scandalous events that took place at Duke University with the WHITE lacrosse team and the BLACK female dancer from nearby black college North Carolina Central, it can happen anywhere. Gotta give the writer/director props for making a super universal film that is more than in tune with current events than anything else out there. Duke University, R. Kelly, Mystikal, Kid Rock, Jayne Kennedy, Snoop Dogg, Rob Lowe, Paris Hilton, the wrestler Chyna, Pamela Anderson, Colin Farrell, the rapper Eve.. all have elements of "Train Ride" scandal somewhere in their lives that has made the world have a lesser opinion of them. Notice the diversity of the races of the names just mentioned. It happens to all races and classes. Get this joint and see the present day, the past, and the future of sexual relations gone terribly wrong, exploited, and untimately destroyed by greed, lust, and power.
colorblind drama to be lauded.......2006-05-06
This film is like being a fly on the wall watching lives unravel in an unfortunate and sad way. You feel compelled to watch. The ending surprised the crap out me. It had a new twist on what could have been old hat. In fact, it's the kind of ending that you have to see again to believe. I'm talking about the scene in the alley with the three male principals. Wood Harris yells, "We got options! We can run if we want too!" In reality, too much damage is done to ever turn back. The train went off the track and lives were destroyed forever because of insensitivity and selfishness. This film blows the lid off of any college drama done before, especially "Higher Learning." The casting was right on the money as well. Singleton's film may have had more money behind it, but definitely not more skill. Good job all around.
not just important for females to see.......2006-05-06
Females and males alike can get a lot from this film. One of the biggest problems in society today is the lack of respect that the current generation has for one another, especially on the dating tip. The characters in the film are not just black characters, they are any character u.s.a. I know the things that go on in this film are going on everywhere in this country, people are just scared to talk about it. This film is going to hit real close to home for many people for men and women. This is a great thing, because in the end, this film can help people heal or deal with this kind of ordeal, or better yet, it could save someone's life who may have been naive. The money is costs to check out this film is a bargain compared to years of therapy if the things in this film really happen to someone. That's the truth. Flick of choice for 2006.

Description
It is a tantalizing idea: a shriveled mummy that has lain neglected on a dusty museum shelf at Niagara Falls could be the remnants of a long-lost Egyptian pharaoh. While a trail of clues hints at how the looted mummy made its way to North America a century and a half ago, archaeologists go to Emory University to employ the latest imaging and DNA techniques in hopes of confirming the body's hidden identity. Their results provide compelling evidence that the mummy may indeed be that of Ramesses I, founder of ancient Egypt's most illustrious dynasty. This amazing story of historical intrigue and forensic science concludes as the mummy takes its rightful place alongside royal relatives in an Egyptian museum, a fitting solution to a 3,000 year-old puzzle.
Special DVD features include: materials and activities for educators; a link to the NOVA Web site; scene selections; closed captions; and described video for the visually impaired.
On one DVD5 disc. Region coding: All regions. Audio: Dolby stereo. Screen format: Letterboxed.

Mummies and Detective Work.......2007-02-01
If you love "The New Detectives," "Forensic Files," and all those other shows where they use biological, technological, and molecular evidence to solve crimes, then you will love this. From crossed arms, to the placement of genitalia, to a diary, Egyptologists determine that a mummy that wound up near Niagara Falls was a pharaoh.
It's easy to assume that all ancient artifacts move from excavation site to well-maintained museum. This documentary, however, shows that certain artifacts have fascinating modern stories to tell. The work says old museums were freak shows. Earlier audiences wanted to see two-headed calves more than Egyptian mummies. I am actually surprised that the mummy survived its first decades in North America after so much mishandling. This work implies that a pharaoh's mummy is important, but an Egyptian nobleman's mummy is useless. I'd think any 3000 year-old relic would be important.
My alma mater (Brown University) is the only American school with an Egyptology undergraduate major. One of the requirements for the degree is to study some German. This documentary helps explain why. The bust of Nefertiti rests in Berlin and many Germans are excited Egyptologists. Here's this symbol that I associate with African-American feminists being embraced by the Claudia Schiffers and Helmut Kohls of the world.
There is one scene where actors pretend to be Egyptian undertakers. However, I wouldn't say this documentary had a ton of cheesy reenactments. Well, of the old kind. When the documentary says, "Person A contacted Person B," they film the real Person A pretending to contact the real Person B: a bit cheesy, but easy on the eyes.
The work shows that Egyptologists are diverse in terms of gender, race, nationality, and linguistic background. Still, the ending is an essentialist letdown in that when an Egyptian official says, "I can smell a pharaoh!" and that concludes the controversy.

- 100 minutes of documentary in an attempt to lift the veil of mystery surrounding the oldest religious document in the world - The Egyptian Book of the Dead
- Biblical scholars detail the extensive parallels to the Old Testament
- Computer graphics help illuminate the ancient text

Product Description
It was lost for thousands of years, discovered a century ago, and its true meaning was recently resurrected by the miracle of computer graphics. It reveals the reason the Egyptians built the pyramids, it's the first written description of any religion, and it is the likely source of the 10 Commandments! This feature-length special follows THE EGYPTIAN BOOK OF THE DEAD from creation around 1800 BC near the site of the Egyptian city of Thebes, to rediscovery (and theft) in 1887 AD. Biblical scholars agree that portions of the Old Testament are direct descendants of the Egyptian text, and some archaeologists argue that Moses must have read and carried a copy of it with him when he fled Egypt. Now, a new generation is reexamining the ancient text for wisdom that can still affect our inner lives! Find out what they have found out.
