Description
Inventor, writer, businessman, scientist, diplomat, and the face gracing the hundred-dollar bill--this stately figure is the Benjamin Franklin history has taught us to remember. Now, in this revealing yet informal History ChannelĀ® presentation, the real man behind the myth is finally brought to light. By his own admission, the man who negotiated an alliance with France, helped write the Declaration of Independence and was the first to tame lightning was far from perfect. A self-promoter and occasionally ruthless competitor, this Founding Father never made a penny from his achievements and was more comfortable speaking in front of the British Parliament than he was being with his own family. Narrated in an easy, conversational tone by Edward Herrmann (Intolerable Cruelty, The Practice), BEN FRANKLIN features in-depth interviews with renowned biographers and historians, as well as reenactments shot in High-Definition video on locations in Philadelphia--a truly remarkable virtual "walk" in Franklin's footsteps. Available on DVD for the first time, BEN FRANKLIN is a fresh, down-to-earth, informative look at one of America's most essential human monuments. DVD Features: "Declaration of Independence" episode of SAVE OUR HISTORY; "The Many Faces of Ben Franklin" Making-of Featurette; Timeline; Anecdotes; Quotes; List of Innovations & Inventions; Interactive Menus; Scene Selection

Created at least in part due to popular demand, Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars will provide some closure to fans who were dismayed by the demise of the popular science fiction television show in 2003 and campaigned mightily to bring it back. Indeed, this miniseries (originally broadcast over two nights on the Sci-Fi Channel) will likely appeal primarily to the Farscape faithful, as the somewhat convoluted storyline may prove baffling to the uninitiated.
A brief bit of backstory explains how John Crichton, an astronaut from Earth, went through a wormhole and ended up on Moya, a living spaceship, with a motley group of aliens, including D'Argo (Anthony Simcoe), Chiana (Gigi Edgley), various puppet characters (designed by the Jim Henson Company), and Aeryn (Claudia Black), Crichton's love interest, who's expecting their first child. As The Peacekeeper Wars begins, our heroes find themselves in the middle of a war-to-end-all-wars between the lizard-like, implacably evil Scarrans and their rivals, the Peacekeepers. Crichton is the lynchpin in all of this, as his knowledge of "wormhole technology" is coveted by all, including his old nemesis Scorpius (Wayne Pygram), who captured and tortured Crichton back in season 1 and with whom Crichton must now form an uneasy alliance against the Scarrans.
Over the course of the three-hour miniseries, we get lots of weird- and cool-looking aliens, some nice sets and special effects, plenty of battles, and lots of portentous talk about the fate of the universe--nothing especially original, but all presented with outstanding production values. There's drama and action, love and betrayal, tragedy and triumph, war and, ultimately, peace, with a suitably spectacular ending (and a nod to Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey). With a 30-minute "making of" documentary among the DVD special features, The Peacekeeper Wars is a fitting way to end the Farscape saga. --Sam Graham
Product Description

Phenomenal.......2007-07-09
I have yet to read a review on this, yet I have been a Farscape fan for a long while and bought this when it first came available. This is a fitting conclusion to Farscape. While I would have absolutely LOVED a season 5, this will do. This is also one of the 2 movies that made me cry; the other being The Passion. I will not spoil it for those who maybe have not seen this yet, but I am not one who normally cries over a movie or mini, but I wept like a baby after watching this. It is typical Farscape; expect the unexpected. Watch this, love this, enjoy this.
Loved it!.......2007-07-01
I really like Farscape, so all I can say about it is positive. The characters are superb, the plots are good, and the humour is welcomed!
Really like the romance between Aeryn and Chricton, because it's not typical, and loved Chiana becauzse she is so cheeky! ;)
It was a good way to give clousere to the serie. But I have to recognize I'm still shocked it got cut... it was an awesome production!!!!!! Going to better all the way!!!!
"Ending" to Farscape? .......2007-06-25
I have heard, maybe just rumor, that since this "movie" did so well, that there would be an extension, of some form, of this series. One can only hope. This is another example of the Sci-Fi Channels mis-handling of a great series; and it was to be replaced by, "The Dream Team?" How pathetic was that?
Yes, if you've never seen the series, you are not going to be able to follow this show, what do you expect? It was supposed to be a "final" episode, and what a great series it was.
All in all, I really miss this show. Good thing I have them all on DVD. Long live the 'Scapers'!!!!
Confusing.......2007-06-11
If you are a fan of the Farscape TV series, you may well like this movie. I have never seen the series and found The Peacekeeper Wars to be confusing because it assumes you know the history of the characters and story line.
Although I have found other Jim Henson productions engaging - I especially liked Labyrinth -- I found this one to be seriously lacking in depth of character. They were walking paper dolls. Only 'Pilot' showed any real personality.
There was a plot twist at the end that I found interesting - even ironic - but it wasn't enough to redeem the movie. I'll be putting this one back up for sale: not a keeper.
perfect blend of comedy drama scifi and sexy.......2007-05-30
The wonderfully whimsical realm of Farscape culminates terrifically in this series mini-movie. Gorgeous yet goofy Ben Browder and the entire cast make it must-see viewing for any scifi fans.

Kirsten Dunst stars as plucky teen niece to Steve Guttenberg in this 1997 telefilm that sets out to provide background for one of Disney/MGM Studios' popular thrill-rides, the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. Guttenberg plays Buzzy, a down-on-his-luck former journalist relegated to concocting stories for a Weekly World News-inspired tabloid. When an elderly woman approaches Buzzy with a compelling ghost story, he's persuaded to investigate. Dunst is Anna, who joins Buzzy in his search to find out the truth about the mysterious 1939 disappearance of five people--including a Shirley Temple-like child star--at the eerily abandoned Hollywood Tower Hotel. There are some scary segments, which may truly frighten sensitive younger viewers. Still, for older kids and adult viewers, Dunst's presence and a fairly fun story makes this an engaging film. (Ages 8 and older) --N.F. Mendoza

A pleasant surprise.......2007-03-08
I liked this movie. I wasn't expecting much so maybe that helped me suspend reality long enough to enjoy what I was watching. The plot is simple without being simplistic and the ghosts are not too terrifying for younger children (and me either ha ha).
The big thing for me is that the characters were well done and related to each other and that there actually were motivations for their actions. This is a 3 star plot with a 4 star result because of the acting and directing.
Terror Towers.......2007-01-17
A great Sunday Afternoon film which is fast moving with twists and a happy ending, but in this case happy endings!
Tower of Terror.......2007-01-12
We recently visited Disney World and went on the Tower of Terror so our child just had to have this movie. So we couldn't find it in local stores so I orded it and it took only about 3 business days of non stop "has it arrived yet?" but we got it in perfect shape. Ordered on a Thursday and got it on a Monday...not bad shipping time.
Tower of Terror.......2007-01-09
This is a wonderful movie for children. It has a great deal of suspense without going over the line with violence and gore. The child who has this movie watches it over and over.
Awesome!!!!!.......2006-07-12
This movie is m-Azing! it has a little bit of everything going on. its scary yet funny. i especially love how the lobby in the movie of the hotel looks exactly like the lobby at disney world in their ride. its a great movie and its from disney so whats not to love? right?

"Say, he looks like an actor," says the platform conductor. And with that introduction, Gene Kelly steps off the train and into his film career. After starring on Broadway in Pal Joey, Kelly made his film debut in For Me and My Gal opposite Judy Garland, with the pair playing vaudeville performers who team up to find success and, of course, romance. But just when things are looking up, World War I intervenes, and Kelly has to take drastic measures to keep a promise and avoid the war, at least temporarily.
Bad move, Gene. Filmed in 1942, For Me and My Gal vigorously supports the war effort, including teaching Kelly the error of his ways. The old-time setting also allows for a basketful of nostalgic charmers, including "After You've Gone," "Oh You Beautiful Doll," and "Ballin' the Jack," and Kelly and Garland's crooning and tapping of the title tune is pure joy. --David Horiuchi
Description
Gene Kelly makes his film debut in this WW I musical playing a man who deliberately injures his hand to avoid being drafted into the army. He starts a vaudeville act with a young woman and they become determined to play The Palace.
Customer Reviews:
Garland has got "IT"!!!.......2007-06-16
Judy Garland is the complete package singer, dancer, actress & all around entertainer. Me & My Gal in a fine DVD transfer showcases the excitement that was Garland The plot is set during the World War I period, but the film has 1940's feel to it. Who cares its great. Gene Kelly shows definite future star potential in his debut film. When it comes to the "IT" factor Judy Garland has it in spades!
The Bells Are Ringing..........2007-05-22
Vaudeville! It's like a talent show with true variety and plenty of enthusiasm. That is what this film commemorates, a forgotten piece of Americana. Jo Hayden (Judy Garland) is a singer in a performing group with plenty of talent. She meets Harry Palmer (Gene Kelly), a selfish and egotistical performer. He tricks her into auditioning with him and the two decide to form a duo. Jo slowly falls in love with Harry, although he hardly notices. Suddenly, World War I breaks out and Jo's brother (Richard Quine) enlists. Harry is drafted, but he doesn't want to go because service will interfere with his chances at the big time. However, it turns out that although the military can break friends apart, it can also bring them together again.
This film utilizes newsreel footage flawlessly and the songs rejuvinate an era long gone. Garland's vocal power and Kelly's charisma make for a truly wonderful film. Aside from the title song, tunes like the By the Sea medley and After You've Gone are standout. With those songs and Busby Berkeley directing, it is no wonder the film was nominated for an Oscar for best scoring.
The movie poster cover reveals that Kelly was billed under George Murphy who plays Jo's former performing partner. His smile is catching, but his role is less important than Kelly's. Originally, however, Murphey was to play Harry Palmer.
Also included in this DVD are a few treats. Two short subjects including Every Sunday, the film Garland made as a test with Deanna Durbin, is here. The radio version can be heard as an audio-only with Garland and Kelly reprising their roles and Dick Powell in Murphy's.
A Slam Dunk.......2007-05-12
The "Ballin the Jack" number by itself is worth the price of purchase. Some reviewer here stated that Garland would not turn in a truly Oscar worthy performance until A Star is Born. That person did not see this film. Garland in For Me and My Gal turns in a performance that is better than the combined performances of every actress who has won best actress in the past ten years. As for the reviewers who decry the over the top patriotism in this film, I say get a life. When this movie came out, people didn't know how things were going to end. And a lot of them didn't survive to see it turn out so well. Thank goodness Judy and company were there to make life a little cherrier for them.
very good.......2007-01-10
One of the best musicals of Judy Garland and Jene Kelly, wonderful music, plus the performance of Martha Eggerth.
A great musical.......2006-11-05
For me and my Gal with Judy Garland as the leading lady is a fantastic movie and Gene Kelly's first movie was just a great start for his career. Judy shines with her amazing voice, grace and acting skills. Kelly is a marvelous dancer. We can appreciate Judy Garland's talent for dancing with Kelly but nobody can compare or even equal her talent as a gifted singer. This was Judy's first mature role as an adult an she did an excellent job. Judy Garland will carry the title of one of the greatest stars of all times for generations to come. Sensational movie. I give it two big thumbs up!

If you're into serial-killer thrillers, you'll want to see Suspect Zero if only to soak up the genre's reliable penchant for creepy atmosphere and creepier behavior. Dark, anguished, and saturated with superficial style, it's a passable exercise in mystery from E. Elias Merhige, who fared better (both critically and artistically) with his acclaimed 2001 film Shadow of the Vampire. The directorial vision evident in that film is also apparent here, but it's pretentiously over-indulged in a grisly plot about the tormented victim of a secret, psychically abusive crime-fighting program (Ben Kingsley) whose pursuit of serial killers in New Mexico is designed to lure a similarly tormented FBI agent (Aaron Eckhart) and his understanding partner (Carrie-Anne Moss) into an investigation that grows increasingly violent and tragically intense. Like Eckhart's character, you may need a handful of aspirin after subjecting yourself to Merhige's visual excess, but as yet another variant of Seven, Suspect Zero scores points for attempting something different. --Jeff Shannon
Description
In SUSPECT ZERO, FBI Agent Tom Mackelway finds himself caught in a cat-and-mouse game with a brutal serial killer, and all clues point to a renegade agent "gone native." Trained by the government to use his psychic abilities to track and capture other serial killers, the renegade is killing other serial killers and claims to be in pursuit of the ultimate serial killer, a man he calls Suspect Zero. As Mackelway becomes increasingly obsessed with his suspect, he must decide what happens when pursuer and prey come face to face - and if rational justice or primal revenge will prevail.
Customer Reviews:
I have seen too many films to enjoy this redundant film.......2007-02-07
I think I've seen too many films. I had this whole thing figured out from jump. The film even gives itself away some way through and then there is no substance and you just sit and wait for the film to play itself out like some boring speech from a used car salesman. It's rare anymore when a thriller will blow me away anymore. After Se7en these all seem alike. Different ingredients, different background concept, different spices, but in the end it's all the same. Is anyone out there writing something that is not a variation on what has already been done? Anything? Where are the myriad of unmade fantastic films? the ideas are just out there floating in the ether. Just reach up and gram them. Something new, something fresh, something unlike what we have already seen over and over and over, remakes of remakes of remakes, being yet remade yet again. I WANT SOMETHING NEW! Give me something new! I am tired of watching the same film re-shot with different actors, a different script, and a different twist. It's like reading 300 books all about the Grand canyon all by different authors. They all seem slightly different but they are all doing and saying the same thing. By the 4th or 5th variation you wonder why the dam thing keeps getting re-written and who in their right mind had the energy to bother working on yet another variation of the same material. wake me when something good comes along...
An original suspense flick, not just a cop chasing serial killer movie. Overlooked potential classic.......2006-10-26
I am usually a huge fan of good suspense movie, but how I missed this one when it came out is unknown. This movie starts off as one that may seem to be about an FBI agent that burned out on "the big case", got demoted, and transfer to the smaller town to keep him busy in paperwork. Thomas Mackelway (Aaron Eckhart, also in the recent film Thanks for Smoking), is this agent, who happens to stumble across, as guessed, a big case in the small town. Benjamin O'Ryan (Ben Kingsley) is a person that becomes of interest to agent Mackelway. Well, this movie does have some of the same things as other suspense thrillers, similar in ways to SEVEN, but with different twist and a much different outcome. In all, a must see if you like suspense thriller. If you liked the movie Seven with brad pitt and Morgan Freeman, then this movie is right up your alley. Check it out, a must own for any suspense fan.
Very Good And Creepy Serial Killer Thriller!.......2006-10-14
"Suspect Zero," is a very good edge-of-your-seat thriller. More importantly, the acting and cinematography in the film are very good. The films main character's are Benjamin O'Ryan (Ben Kingsley) and Thomas Mackelway (Aaron Eckhart). Kingsley portrays a former special agent who was assigned to a super-top-secret special agency that sought serial killers through the use of mind altering experiments; in which they would be able to locate these killers in their visions [sounds silly, but it works]. While Aaron Eckhart portrays a special agent assigned to the FBI, who through reckless behaviour, finds himself reassigned to a lesser post. But it is at this lesser post that he finds himself embroiled in the hunt for a serial killer.
The killer [I won't give out the identity] is very illusive. More importantly, this killer is killing serial-killers. Therefore, a hunt ensues for this killer. Kingsley is intentionally trying to make contact with Eckhart: Due to the fact they both have a lot in common. [to write about this would spoil the film for you who have not seen it]. One scene in particular [there are many] that stands out is the part played in the beginning by a traveling saleman named Harold Speck (Kevin Chamberlin). His part, although small, sets up the events that will be the catalyst for Aaron Eckhart and Kingsley. Also, I found Kevin Chamberlin's brief role very disturbing. You will see when you view the film. The film is highly recommended. There are some very disturbing parts however. Recommended.
OK, this movie should be really, really bad........2006-10-03
I've come to believe one thing: Paramount makes great movies...Aeon Flux was the exception...
I saw this movie and texted a couple of people, with no positive response...its from Paramount thats a plus. Carrie-Anne Moss who spends her time underacting in such pretty good movies like the Matrix, Reloaded, Revolutions, Memento (which she was pretty good in) and Red Planet. She plays emotionless, yet excitable women, usually and this role is no exception. I have a thing for noses and hers is awful and distracts me through the entire movie. She is definitely an iron weight on this movie, but she does offer a little something...she blends in real well and is forgettable as Detective Kulok.
Aaron Eckhart has been also seen in Paycheck, Erin Brochovich and Any Given Sunday. His acting seems dry and tedious, but he brings something intangible to the screen. It doesn't excite or electrify, but he captivates in "Suspect Zero". He Plays Detective Mackelway.
Oh, yeah there's this other guy, named Sir Ben Kingsley in the movie. He plays the other character, Ben O'Ryan. Ben Kingsley has made alot of roles shine over the years, but none so much as in "Suspect Zero".
The movie centers around three FBI Agents and a case of people gone missing and murdered in New Mexico, specifically on the state line. Yes, it seems like an X-Files Episode in places. Some very strange elements shake nicely into this believable framework and hide a neat science fiction background.
The general interaction between Kingsley and Eckhart is hard to understand, but awesome. The scenes between Carrie-Anne Moss and Aaron Eckhart are forced and laid in, to seem like the X-Files, perhaps. Ignore them, ignore them! Its OK...there's only one or two...get a soda from the kitchen. If you want fast paced drama, this is not your movie. It tends to be like rush hour-the time of day...50 miles an hour...stop...50 miles and hour...stop. It is excellent and underrated. Go buy it...its real cheap, its worth it.
Very cool serial killer film. If you like CSI and Law and Order, you might like this.......2006-09-11
This movie was a very big surprise to me when I discoverd it. Ben Kingsley, Aaron Eckhart, and Kerry Anne-Moss all have strong roles and characters in this film. Eckhart plays an FBI agent who got busted down in ranks and starts over in a desk job in the southwest US. He is assigned a case that quickley becomes more than just a missing persons/murder investigation. Through-out the film, Ben Kingsley and him develop a very unique bond that pulls us throug the movie and keeps us on the edge of our seats until the end. All thing are connected, pretty tight storyline. This is a psychological thriller that should please anyfan of movies like Identity, The Jacket, The Woodsman, and The Machinist. Also Fans of CSI and Law and Order may like this too. This film does not have the boundaries of TV ratings, so it is more gruesome. A must see.

A Mother's Love.......2007-05-24
"PSYCHO II", a 'twenty-years-later' tale, could have been a total disaster. But with a story, though far-fetched, that extends naturally from the first one & includes and/or name-drops characters from Hitchcock's awesome original film, "PSYCHO II" succeeds. Loaded with an authentic slasher-flick feel combined with a post-giallo approach (haunting score, jaunty camera angles partially cribbed from the original, a 'whodunit' plot), this flick feels more inspired than your average case of cash-in 'sequel-itis'.
I'm probably not saying anything new here, since the movie's been out for so long and is all but forgotten by anyone besides genre fans looking to complete their collections... but if you're like me, & you remember this pic vaguely and want to catch up on the old-school nostalgia tip, I'd say pick up "PSYCHO II". Because where the first film's tame-by-today's-standards approach doesn't really feel very scary in retrospect (aside from everybody's favorite seminal shower scene), and is more of a study in film-making technique than anything at this point, "PSYCHO II" is just a spooky, fun ride. It has a couple of good jumps and, more effectively, some truly eerie scenes (particularly the foreboding weirdness when Norman Bates believes he's talking to his 'real' mother on the phone). Anthony Perkins, reprising his infamous Bates role, is pretty spot-on here, and considering the teen demographic this one had to play to, there's a couple of pretty gruesome, '80s-style kill set pieces. These elements, combined with an ending ALMOST as good as the original's, make "PSYCHO II" a much better second installment than most of its retread kin from the same era. And it's certainly finer than any of the other junky later installments in the 'PSYCHO' franchise.
Pretty good..........2007-04-11
This was a good second installment of psycho. Ofcourse I never really fell in love with the psycho series. Never really cared to. I doubt I will purchase the third installment. I just wanted to atleast see the second movie in the series. If your into the psycho franchise, then get this move, otherwise just rent it.
A Great Part II For The Classic Original.......2007-04-08
Psycho II is a great movie. What happens when a mentally ill man who has killed in the past is released back into the very community where the murders were committed? Well just take a gander at this movie and find out. Some folks accept Norman Bates but others have plans for him. Who can he trust? Does he deserve a second chance? This dvd release is in widescreen and looks great.
Just as good as the original.......2007-02-17
I remember seeing this when I was younger and getting scared out of my mind. Now that I am older, I see it from a more psychological/suspenseful sense...and it is even better! Sequels usually pale in comparision to the original, but this one stands on its own. It not only has a great storyline, but also adds a great continuation to the Psycho history.
Psycho II deals with Norman Bates' battle with sanity as those he harmed attempt to push him back over the edge. All the while you are thinking--is mother really dead?--is Norman committing the murders or is it all in his mind? I would positively recommend Psycho II to fans of the original and new fans who want to explore the world of Psycho.
Suprisingly good sequel........2006-08-23
22 years later after the incident at the Bates Motel, Norman Bates (Anthony Perkins) has been released out of the mental institute for the criminally insane and is back home. Even though he's back, he still feels haunted by mother's voice and has a second job as a cook at a diner, he's gotten strange phone calls and notes from someone playing Mother so he or she can drive him back to his original state of insanity.
Very good sequel to Alfred Hitchcock's masterpiece of horror has good acting and has Perkins reprising his role as everyone's favorite looney with Meg Tilly, Vera Mills (From the original), Robert Loggia and Dennis Franz co-star. Jerry Goldsmith's score is half as good as the original's score and there's plenty of good scares to make one hell of a good sequel to an all-time masterpiece, there's also a nice twist at the end of this movie.
The DVD has good picture and sound quality with the only extra being the theatrical trailer, if you liked the original then i suggest you give this a try.

Description
Inventor, writer, businessman, scientist, diplomat, and the face gracing the hundred-dollar bill--this stately figure is the Benjamin Franklin history has taught us to remember. Now, in this revealing yet informal History Channel® presentation, the real man behind the myth is finally brought to light.

Not Recommended for Family Viewing.......2006-07-04
Good documentary covering all aspects of Benjamin Franklin's life. However would not recommend it for family viewing due to extensive coverage of Benjamin Franklin's personal life including an artist's rendering of an intimate situation involving Benjamin Franklin. While Benjamin Franklin's personal life is of interest and does shed light on important events in his life, it was distracting from the reason this DVD was purchased which was to learn more about the role Benjamin Franklin played in the early history of the United States. Would recommend as an alternative the PBS documentary Benjamin Franklin.
Great man great DVD.......2006-01-21
This is a must have for any history fan or any Benjamin franklin fan. The DVD covers Ben's many accomplishments as a scientist, printer, statesman, and don't forget the adulterey in his life. It also covers how Ben franklin had trouble with his family, and how he had many affairs while he wa in Europe. In conclusion this DVD gives an in depth look at Ben franklin's life with interesting re-enactments.
The Declaration Feature is a great bonus to this great biography.......2005-10-26
I found this A&E special excellent. I purchased this DVD not just for the biography of Franklin, but for the great Declaration of Independence special. I used this documentary for my middle school class and know they all enjoyed the Declaration feature. I also showed clips from the Franklin biography and can tell you in one word: excellent! I highly recommend this history feature for the content. Franklin was an amazing American Renaissance Man that needs to have a feature movie made about his wonderful personality traits.

Description
Gene Kelly makes his film debut in this WWI musical playing a man who deliberately injures his hand to avoid being drafted into the army.

Delightful "Lum and Abner" movie.......2004-12-21
Two Weeks to Live is a delightful Lum and Abner romp, one of the seven full length movies that they made in the 1940s. This one takes them to Chicago when Abner inherits a railroad. Things go awry in dizzying fashion after that. The print of this Alpha video is decent (perhaps not as good as the print for The Bashful Batchelor, but better than Dreaming Out Loud), and the price is right. Fans of cornpone humor shouldn't hesitate.
