2 out of 5 stars Not what you've seen on Speed Channel.......2007-05-08

I thought this video would be similar to the "making of Grand Prix" that has been aired on the cable Speed Channel (Speed TV) with interviews with Frankenheimer and the cast. It is really a collection of old racing films with just a small amount of footage from the production of the film. I'd say this is a good case of "you get what you pay for" ... not much content for not much money. A disappointment.

1 out of 5 stars The Description Is Misleading.......2007-01-09

I weas led to believe, from the description, that there was more to this film than there actually is. I expected there to be information on all of the aspects of the filming of the fantastic movie, only to find that there was one short on the filming of the Monaco GP and a terrible hodge-podge of news clips of every fiery accident that had ever taken place on or near a racetrack. This DVD is for ghouls only.

5 out of 5 stars Grand Prix puts you there!.......2007-01-05

Yes, the DVD version of Grand Prix puts you right in the middle of Grand P rix F1 racing in the '60's. There is just no other racing film that compares with this one, except, maybe, LeMans by Steve McQueen. Those were the days when you could roam through town and visit the garages where the different teams were. I even had my picture taken sitting in the F1 Ferrari of Pedro Rodriequez. It was a simpler time but more exciting, at least to me.

This DVD is crisp, clean, and the sound will blow your mind if you have a surround sound system.

If you are a sports car racing fan then you need this DVD in your collection. You will never see a new film like this again.

    1 out of 5 stars worthless.......2006-11-03

This is nothing but a bad rehash of the actors' bios in Grand Prix. There is far more interesting stuff about the actual filming on the two dvd Grand Prix set. Don't waste your money on this.

    1 out of 5 stars Don't Bother.......2006-09-09

Don't bother with this one. It does have a poor quality copy of the short feature on the making of Grand Prix, but now the double disk CD is out, you can see a great copy of the same short in the special features section of that set.

The other bits on this disk are old TV bio documentaries & newsreel footage of various motor racing subjects. Not worthless, but not Grand Prix related either.

1 out of 5 stars Music Documentary w/only clips of Freestyle Dressage.......2007-06-27

I was disappointed by this video. I thought that it would show more freestyle footage. This DVD should have been called: The Making of The Music for Anky.

In the section "The Shows", there are two:
James Bond show `Live': It would have not been bad if they did not waste film showing me the orchestra. If I want to watch people play instruments, I would go to the local school and watch them for FREE.
Tango show `live': This starts off with shots of the band. Then the video goes to a split screen with the voice of the tango and various shots of the band. This is ok if you have a monster TV. I do not. There is some good footage but not much. Once again, if I want to watch people play instruments, I would go to the local school and watch them for FREE.

"The Story", where to start.......... This is mainly about the making of the music. There are only clips of performances. You never get to see a full performance. This is just a documentary about music first and horses second. I now know more about writing music for freestyle than freestyle itself. Did I mention that it is in German with subtitles? That was 29:44 of my life that I will never get back.

"Athene Show Clip": It as well is music video. Various shots of practice, the composers, eating lunch, the band, Anky singing and yes some from Athens. This section is 6:25 and I am sad to say that this is the best part of the DVD for freestyle footage.

"The Making Of": This section is actually about making a freestyle routine. I am sorry to say that it is only 14:26 long but it does have some information.

"Gallery": Just picture but they are very cute.

Overall impression: Not worth spending your money on. I will not make the mistake of buying anymore of Anky's DVD's. God only knows what the next one will be.

The CD of the music was great. I thought that it was the only saving grace to this documentary.
