Awesome.This set may look cheap by its packaging,but the progam itslf is of very high quality.It contains six hours of stunning sights from all over the world,with visuals on par with national geographic.The narration on the various sights is also quite interesting.

Excellent, There is so munch info on this DVD about China grate Wall how it got its name and how the wall's first came about being belt you can watch it over and over again and still learn something new. Two thumbs up. If don't have it this DVD the Grate Wall of China thin I recommend you show have add it to your DVD collection

Informative but dull..........2006-08-05

If you are looking for a great, beautifully done documentary on this topic I'd refer you to Discovery Channel's Secrets of the Great Wall. This one is very much dated in appearance. Lots of talking heads of historians with use of old old photos and footage of the wall as back drop. All the same this DVD is informative but this is not one I'd like to watch over and over again and I'm a person that loves to watch good ones over and over.

Great Wonders of the World is an excellent DVD set brought to us by Readers Digest who is known to publish excellent books and videos and is now in the DVD market. This 2 disc set covers 21 different locales throughout the globe showing man-made and nature-made wonders that are exquisite in so many ways.

The first disc covers The Colosseum, Machu Pichu, Great Wall of China, The Kremlin, Palace of Versailles, The Statue of Liberty, The Eiffel Tower, Mount Rushmore, The Grand Canyon, The Serengeti, The Sahara Desert, Iguazu Falls, The Amazon River, Ayers Rock, and The Himalayas.

The second disk covers mysterious and sacred places created by man over the centuries and is really fascinating. This disk includes Stonehenge, The Great Pyramids, Hagia Sophia, Borobudur, St. Peters Basilica (Cathedral), and the Taj Mahal. Also, at the end of the disc, you are treated to a bonus selection titled "Symphony of Wonders" which will show all different locations with a distinctive and very pleasing musical piece which is different for each location.

When transported to these different places, you will receive the history of the site, how it was created, and all the knowledge that has been gleaned through the ages about these wonders. The sweeping photograpy and attractive music for each location is just gorgeous and keeps you asking for more as the collection proceeds. The narration during the programs is quite well done and very informative in how it is delivered and it does not drag on or create boredom to the viewer.

Some bonuses of the DVD include the added program "Symphony of Wonders", a map showing all the wonders at the various points of the globe, and a very appealing 5.1 Dolby Surround Sound track that makes the discs so much more enjoyable. If you like history and landmarks and breathtaking beauty created by man and nature alike, you will find this set very much to your liking and with an excellent price to boot. Hopefully they will release more sets like this one being that there are so many more wonders in the world to experience.

Wonderful Wonders.......2002-01-02

This is a well done DVD featuring 21 of the world's greatest wonders, both natural and man made. Though the 21 wonders featured in this collection may not all be on everyone's Top 21 list, they are nonetheless all truly outstanding. The photography is first rate, and the narration is both informative and interesting. Not only are you shown pictures of each wonder, but you are given their history and origins, and are shown the various cultures that surround each of these. The musical accompaniment is also nicely done, with the music matching the cultures of the various regions. The bonus feature - Symphony of Wonders - is a nice feature. It is basically a summary of clips from the full DVDs set just to the music, no narration. It's especially good for Americans as it begins and ends with American scenes set to Patriotic music. Overall, a very nice collection well worth the price.

A National Park since 1908 the Grand Canyon is one of the world's greatest natural wonders. It encompasses 2,000 square miles, reaches a mile down and ten miles across. It harbors a multitude of wildlife including mule deer, mountain lions, coyotes, bighorn sheep, wild turkey, blue heron, desert tortoises and the Kaibab squirrel, found nowhere else in the world.

This DVD includes many features. Included are footage of many recreational adventure tours available in the National Park. Get the full story on how the Grand Canyon was formed. A very enjoyable section is classical music presented along with a montage of beautiful images from the park.

Learn the history and tour these locations inside and out. Several minutes are spent on each location, so you will see details and hear stories that you would not get in a travel DVD. The picture quality is very good as well.

More like a travel program than an undersea program.......2001-06-26

From the title, I'd expected more focus on the undersea environment and undersea life, but this dvd is aimed at divers who are planning a trip, and want to see what the Great Barrier and Queensland have to offer. It has great scenes of divers interacting with the fish and of the reefs. It does quite a good job of showing off the Great Barrier's wonderful natural beauty. This dvd is not for people interested in learning about the wildlife in the Great Barrier, more for travelers. It also shows only a few of the dive sites in the Great Barrier and Queensland, and also shows inland wildlife, and advertises a hotel, which is not really appropriate for a dvd of this title. This is a good travel brochure, but is certainly not a nature/wildlife dvd.

Where is it?.......2007-01-29

After having seen Doyle BramhallII's Great Wall show on PPV, I ordered this and the Alamo segment of the Wonders of the World series. After a number of delays, I got an e-mail saying this isn't available. And recently I've seen the Alamo show won't be available untill Jan. 1, 2010. Anybody know what's up with the availability of these shows? I gave it 3 stars because I LOVED Bramhall's show, which was the whole of his portion of the Great Wall show.
