"We're here to save the world from what rock & roll has become," say the two slacker dudes who comprise the "band" Friends Forever. And, as depicted in this documentary, they've chosen a novel method: drive around in a VW bus, find a parking place, and put on a show for the bemused locals right from the back of their vehicle. Drummer Nate and bassist Josh freely admit that they can barely play; indeed, that's the point, as their "music" consists mainly of sound effects and noise and their performances are filled with sound and fury (and smoke and lights) signifying nothing. Whether filmmaker Ben Wolfinsohn's cinema verite (sort of) record of the boys' so-called West Coast tour will prove diverting for the home viewer is all a matter of taste; but at least it's different, and at 80 minutes (plus 40 minutes of extra footage), goodness knows there's a lot of it. --Sam Graham
Description
Friends Forever (the band) never plays inside rock clubs. Instead, they play inside their van outside the club, to stunned bystanders. Nate (drums), Josh (guitar), Jen (lighting) and their three dogs don't think twice about traveling thousands of miles across the country to play one 15-minute show in a loading zone. FRIENDS FOREVER (the documentary) captures their smoke-spewing, generator-powered rock world, and the tour that has them crisscrossing the U.S. in search of the perfect parking spot. No audience is too small, or too baffled, to skimp on the performance when you're on "a mission to save rock."

My 1 and 3 year old watch this over and over again. They enjoy it and the best part is that the dvd will play and start over on it's own. That means I don't have to mash play every time they want to watch it again and again.

Angelina values close friendships, but she's soon to discover that maintaining healthy friendships can require a good deal of effort and maturity. The joy of giving reluctantly replaces remorse when Angelina donates a beloved doll to charity in "Ballerina Rag Doll," and jealousy incites a lie that threatens to grow to massive proportions in "Angelina's Surprise." "Arthur the Butterfly" illustrates the concept that if you love something, sometimes you must set it free, and "Alice's Present" shows how an innocent mistake can undermine a solid friendship it it's concealed. Two "Little Stars" live-action segments help beginning ballerinas feel more comfortable about their first ballet class and offer a glimpse of the imaginative world of dancing in character. (Ages 3 to 8) --Tami Horiuchi

Description

Angelina celebrates friendships both onstage and off in this treasured collection of stories about the charming mouseling who lives in Chipping Cheddar. Angelina learns life lessons about giving, jealousy and friendship- realizing that true friends are friends forever.

5 out of 5 stars Angelina Ballerina - Friends Forever.......2007-02-20

Gave this to my granddaughters for Christmas and they enjoy it while playing with their Angelina Ballerina Dolls. Thanks!

5 out of 5 stars I LOVE THIS DVD!.......2006-12-11

I really like this DVD. I have it on VHS. In Ballerina Rag Doll, Angelina mistakenly gives away her rag doll that her grampa had given her. In Angelina's Surprise, Priscilla and Penelope Pinkpaws get a new baby brother. Angelina gets very jealous and mistakenly tells a lie. In Artur the Butterfly, Angelina finds an injured butterfly and looks after it. When Arthur feels better, Angelina refuses to let him go. When Angelina searches for Artur, she and Henry get trapped in a big hole. In Alice's Present, Alice gives Angelina a homemade gym bag. When Angelina leaves her gym bag outside her front door, the Pinkpaws twins take the bag, which causes a big fight between Angelina and Alice. Alice vows not to do ballet. Angelina vows not to do gymnastics. When Angelina gets her bag back, she and Alice get back together. I love happy endings. At first, I didn't like it because it has my least favorite episode in it. But now, I like the DVD.

5 out of 5 stars WONDERFUL DVD - a must!.......2005-09-21

Such great life lessons in this DVD...I bought it for my daughter so she's have some girlie DVDs, and my 4 year old son loves it too!

5 out of 5 stars The whole family loves Angelina.......2003-07-16

Four stories from the PBS television series. In each tale Angelina faces difficult challenges. The stories are:

Ballerina Rag Doll - Angelina faces maturity as she gives up her baby things to help others. But Angelina might not be ready to part with them all. Or is she?

Angelina's Surprise - Angelina is jealous of the attention being given the Twins and their new sibling. Angelina tells a lie that snowballs out of control until she admits her mistake.

Arthur the Butterfly - Angelina finds a beautiful injured butterfly while on a picnic. Angelina has a hard time letting it go once it is healed but learns her lesson when she becomes trapped.

Alice's Present - Alice gives Angelina a new gym bag that through a mix-up winds up donated to charity. Alice thinks Angelina did not like the gift and a friendship might come to an end.

We love the stories, the music and the voice characterizations. A fun video for young girls, and some boys, with lessons for everyone.

3 out of 5 stars Stories Good but Format Annoying.......2003-03-05

...lack of a menu. There is no way to choose specific episodes-you just have to skip through the chapters and even those do not break at obvious places. My daughter likes to watch DVDs with the captions on (she learned to read at four so I guess that helped) and that option is not available. Might as well buy the video instead--it's a bit cheaper and at least you can look at the counter to determine where the episodes are.

    5 out of 5 stars Great Eps!.......2007-05-19

I really liked this collection of classic eps. The cloud of uncaring was my favorite one but I really enjoyed the others. Anxious for the new ones to come out.

5 out of 5 stars Highly enjoyed it!.......2007-03-24

I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed this dvd. it has six of the classic episodes on it. They are:
    1. the best way to make friends
    2. the two princes
    3. the cloud of uncaring
    4. the show down
    5. beautiful dreamer-the show must go on
    6. grumpy's little friend
three of the episodes are the ones where gram bear is telling hugs and tugs a story. and three of them are rescue missions. just to let you know. number five on the box is mislabled- the name of the episode is correct, but the description has been mixed up with a different episode. still, I highly recommend this dvd to the young and old alike. if there is any of you out there that freak out over No heart don't worry, you only see him in the either the second or first episode, so you can still show your kids the dvd and just skip those episodes, in fact, the last 3 episodes on the disc are all gram story episodes and No Heart isn't in any of them, they are just cute stories. I hope this review helps. keep on caring.

As 10-year-old Sakura Kinomoto's abilities as a Cardcaptor increase, her life grows more complicated. When she meets Sonomi, the mother of her best friend Tomoyo and the president of a major toy company, she discovers Sonomi is a cousin of her mother, Nadeshiko. Sonomi looked after the lovely, klutzy Nadeshiko when they were growing up and still resents Sakura's father for marrying her closest friend. But also she's mature enough to recognize that Professor Kinomoto made Nadeshiko very happy during her brief life. Sakura is enchanted to learn about her mother, who died when she was only 3. Kero, Sakura's irrepressible familiar, provides a comic counterpoint to serious feelings in these episodes, playing video games and demanding his share of any snack. Shaoran Li, the rude new boy from Hong Kong, continues to compete with Sakura as magical Clow Cards appear and have to be subdued. Matters take a turn for the worse when Li develops a sort of crush on Yuki, the high school student Sakura adores. No American cartoon studio would tackle this story line, fearing accusations of promoting homosexuality from conservative watchdogs. Li's attraction to Yuki isn't sexual, but the normal feelings of a lonely 10-year-old in need of a big brother/role model, and the emotional honesty only adds to the charm of Cardcaptor Sakura. Rated 13 and up, but story line aside, appropriate for a younger audience. The series is available in an edited format entitled Cardcaptors that aired on the Cartoon Network. --Charles Solomon

5 out of 5 stars A TRUE Long loved friendship!!!!!.......2006-10-01

Now, when I watched these episodes I LOVED them. But that's no suprise. Anyway, I think that Tomoyo should be Sakura's number one person, NOT Shaoran or Yukito!!!!

Episode 9#: Sakura isn't cheerful because of what the brat Shaoran said to her last night. He was saying she's not strong enough to be the master. So, Tomoyo and Rika feel bad and take Sakura to the store to shop to cheer her up! But when they get to Sakura's house Rika is suddenly under a sword trance! A sword appears in her hand and tries to slash Sakura and Tomoyo. Sakura though uses to uses a card that way she could seal that Sword card away.
    Episode 10#
Time has passed...Sakura and Tomoyo have known each other for a whole year now. When Sakura and Tomoyo go to the school festival they meet their parents there. But right away truth comes out. It turns out that Sakura's long dead mother and Tomoyo's mother , who is a owner of a big toy company, were counsins! But when Sakura's mother Nadeshiko died she was only 27. Sakura was only three years-old after it all happened. Tomoyo's mother Sonomi HATES Sakura's father because near the end of Nadeshiko's life HE was there more then Sonomi. Sonomi LOVED Nadeshiko dearly. Just like Tomoyo loves Sakura to pieces. It was a great shock to Sakura and Tomoyo that they were cousins. But that was the day when Sakura and Tomoyo told each other that they love each other very much.
    Episode 11#:
Sakura is going to visit Tomoyo's house for the very first time. Because Tomoyo asked Sakura to come over because she had a problem she needed Sakura for. When I saw tha part, at first I thought something like this was going wrong, like if Tomoyo got ill or hurt or soemthing like that. I LOVE Sakura and Tomoyo so much that I even worry about then when something goes wrong!!! Mental, right? Anyway Sakura is in a state of shock when she sees Tomoyo HUGE mansion. Because Tomoyo's family are very wealthy. Sonomi comes from the toy company to eat cake with the two girls and talk with them. But Sonomi sometimes feels sad to watch the Sakura and Tomoyo play, for two reasons. The first reason is that the girls must remind Sonomi of herself and Nadeshiko. And since Sonomi already taught Tomoyo to stay away from men, she worried that Sakura might get mixed up wuith a boy and Tomoyo's feeling will get hurt. So, of course Shaoran just had to step in the girls way!!! That makes me gag!!! Anyway Sonomi got called to the toy company so she had to leave. Sonomi loves Sakura dearly. Because Sakura is the daughter of Sonomi's passed away counsin. Sonomi tried to spend as much time with her only daughter Tomoyo as well. When Sakura and Tomoyo return to Tomoyo's bedroom Tomoyo explains that the problem is that her box that contains something that's very precious to herself and her mother won't open. They have the key. But it just won't open. It's the Sheild card. Sakura uses the Sword card and cuts open the barrier and seals it away. Tomoyo reveals that her most precious item is an eraser. Why? Because that is the first thing Sakura ever gave her, and she gave to her when they first met!! Sonomi's most precious thing is cherry blossoms because it was Nadeshiko's favorite flower.
I didn't get a chance to watch number 12 yet, so.

I STILL THINK that Tomoyo and Sakura are better together then Sakura and Shaoran. Because honestly, I did not like the way Shaoran treated Sakura in the beginning. Also, Tomoyop treats Sakura like a sister. They care for each other, NEVER once had a fight. That's why I love the first movie better then the second.

    Do, buy this product
    It's VERY touching!!!!
    It's worth your money.

5 out of 5 stars I love it, it is a kawaii anime and worth it to watch........2004-10-12

I saw this dvd and I watch it over and over again. I love the show. It is so kawaii and cool. Dont waste your time with the dub stay with the sub. I t is the way to go. Even for little kids. I love the sub and it is worth my time.Cardcaptor Sakura and it rocks out loud.

5 out of 5 stars A collection of great episodes........2004-02-19

    Sakura and the mysterious brooch
Sakura, Tomoyo, and Rika go to a shop where they sell pins and they each buy one. Rika's pin takes control of her, and it turns out that the pin is really the Sword card.
Sakura and the sports day of flowers
The Tomeada Elementary school has a field day, but the field gets covered in flowers thanks to the Flower card!!
    Sakura, Tomoyo, and a manion
Sakura finds out that Tomoyo has a box which has her and her mother's precious things. But the Shield card is preventing them from opening it.
    Sakura's neverending day
Sakura goes to school one normal day, but the next day, she repeats it. Only she and Sharon are aware of it. It's all thanks to the Time card.

5 out of 5 stars Sweet? You betcha!.......2002-09-18

Just like the two DVDs before it, FRIENDS FOREVER is a wonderful set of episodes. Sakura is just as adorable as ever and we start to see even more of the relationships - Li, for example, along with his interactions with everyone else. After all, he didn't join us until the last episode of the second DVD.

On this DVD, Sakura is faced with challenges such as saving the life of her friend while trying to capture the card controlling her and battling a card that turns back time! There are also two adorably sweet episodes that address the relationship between Tomoyo's mother and Sakura's mother and Sakura gets to learn more about the mother she never knew. No shortage of moments to 'Awww' over on this DVD!

Also, as a nifty bonus, there's an art gallery in the extras. Included are about 25 pictures of Sakura and her friends - concept drawings showing different poses and facial expressions, along with the occasional battle costume. It's not a whole lot but it's cute to flip through once or twice. Like the rest of my Sakura DVDs though, I buy for the show, not the extras.

I was just as thrilled to see this one as I was the previous two - Sakura is still just as darling as ever. The artwork is gorgeous, the voice acting wonderful, and you'll find yourself laughing and smiling in no time.

    5 out of 5 stars I'd rate this a million stars if I could!.......2002-09-04

Now here's some great animation! It's nothing like the stupid dub Cardcaptors, it's over a million times better! It's so sweet and cute, and also funny! Buy the subtitled version instead of the dub. To all those people who buy the dub, you don't know what you're missing!

Sabrina the Teenage Witch is turning 13 years old and she's off to the Witch Academy (suggestive of Harry Potter's Hogwarts School) to learn the three principles of witchdom: to use magic wisely, be true to one's friends, and be true to one's self. Feeling inferior because she's only half-witch, Sabrina conceals her mixed heritage and manages to rise to a position of popularity. Sabrina joins her new friends in making fun of Nicole, a "bookworm" who doesn't fit in, but, when Sabrina discovers that Nicole is a half-witch like herself, the pair journeys to the witches' realm in hopes of becoming full witches. The question is, is the cost of becoming a full witch worth the price of their newfound friendship? This Nickelodeon feature-length Sabrina the Teenage Witch follows three previous animated shows and a live action program based on the original 1962 Sabrina the Teenage Witch comic. (Ages 6 and older) --Tami Horiuchi

    Description

Get ready for magical fun with one of the coolest spell-casters around!

Join Sabrina on the broomstick ride of her life at Witch Academy, where she learns the three golden rules of "witchdom": Use your magic wisely, be true to your friends and, most of all, be true to yourself! Sabrina is smart, funny and just like every other girl her age, with one small exception: She's a witch! Well, actually, the term "half-witch" would be more precise. And that's exactly the problem - she's convinced that none of the girls at her new witch school will accept her if they learn that she's half-mortal. But Sabrina has a plan that's guaranteed to make her a permanent part of the popular crowd. Follow Sabrina on her most fantastic adventure ever!

    5 out of 5 stars Nice movie!.......2004-11-04

Since the Animated Series was a huge hit, this cute TV movie (based on the series) was made when the show ended and before the spin-off of the series (Sabrina's Secret Life) started airing. While I have not seen Sabrina's Secret Life, I enjoyed watching the animated series when it first aired, and recently viewed this movie as well.

The movie revolves around Sabrina, our favorite teenage witch, who upon turning 13 has to attend the Witch Academy. Feeling different from the others, because she is only a half-witch (and half a mortal), she has trouble fitting in. However, as the story progresses, she realizes who her true friends are, and what is really important in life.

The story is well-paced with unexpected twists and turns, and leaves us with morals that are not only important to witches, but to the viewers like us as well. The animation is great, and even the people who gave their voices to the characters did a good job. All in all, this is a great movie to see whether you are a fan of the show or not.

3 out of 5 stars Many mistakes, but ok..........2003-05-20

This movie was nice but there were any mistakes.
    1. It's explained in the cartoon that a half-mortal turns into a full witch/warlock when they are 16 not 13, otherwise the girls used that full witch spell.
    2. Sabrina could fly and drive a broom in the cartoon.
    3. How on Earth did the Spellmans go to the Netherworld(or Other Realm in Sabrina the Teenage Witch)'cause they must go to the shower or the attic.
    4. Why does Salem sound surprised when he said "Hey, you did magic!"? Sabrina was casting spells scince she was 4! and Salem has seen her do magic b4.
    5. Salem is grey. (DIC needs to watch the reruns again...)
the movie was ok but everyone (except Portia, Nicole, and the other witches) were bad. Hilda, Zelda, and Salem were the worst!
    but it's cool anyway...:)

5 out of 5 stars Better than the cartoon series.......2003-05-16

This full-length animated feature is excellent, and much better than any single episode of the animated Sabrina TV series. There's more magic! Tons of zaps and spells.

The voices are different, however. Emily Hart, Melissa's younger sister, did the voice of cartoon Sabrina in the series, while Melissa did the voices for Aunts Hilda and Zelda. Not on this DVD, but that doesn't matter. Salem sounds more like Paul Lynde, but that's ok too.

Buy it, buy it, buy it!

    2 out of 5 stars The 1st Animated Movie.......2003-05-12

Just an ok movie. It's about a young Sabrina who goes to a hogwarts like school and the students treat her diffrent because she is half mortal on her 13th birthday.

    5 out of 5 stars A wonderful rockumentary..........2004-09-29

This is definitely a "love it or hate it" kind of film. If factors like poor production values, non-linear storylines or Dadaist absurdism tend to keep you away from a film, then this one's not for you.

For those that are into that kind of thing, this is a great flick. The irony and fatalism of the hipster goal of reaching absolute "indie" status is portrayed here in all its horrific glory--a group of musicians who won't record, won't play shows, don't conform to any recognizeable genre, etc. it's outsider status taken to the edge of extreme (the extreme being a refusal to even play your instruments).

Some amazing and bizarre imagery and scenes that will stay with you.

1 out of 5 stars Disappointing and annoying.......2004-01-17

I bought this because of the previews on friendsforeverthemovie.com, but after watching it I realized I'd seen most of the best parts. I wanted to see at least a good 4 or 5 minutes of their act, but all the actual music footage is in tiny 5 or 10-second clips. Meanwhile the viewers are treated to long, unrelated segments about drug-users who eat their own vomit. Granted there are some funny moments, but there are also many moments where Josh and Nate are doing nothing but playing for the camera, trying and failing at being funny. In fact, the guys are most genuine when they're playing and that's another reason why the scene selection was fairly disproportionate. Watch "American Movie" or "American Job" instead for better direction in the same genre.

4 out of 5 stars Isn't life suposed to be fun..........2003-04-04

I thought this was an excellent movie about a group of, admittedly crazy people who really love what they do. It is a lot more interesting than any other documentry I've seen about "Modern" music and who can resist a band that uses fireworks as a major part of their act.

1 out of 5 stars Compared to "Spinal Tap".......2003-03-26

and one can review their "music" and the overall quality of this "film" using the same comparison: "[fecal] sandwich."

    5 out of 5 stars Maximum coolness.......2003-03-13

The unbelievable thing about this film is that it accuratley captures the struggle to perform entertainments while completely homeless. No easy feat. Why as a homeless person would you even consider providing entertainment for an unintentional audience who ultimatley chastize you? Without this film all the work that goes into these "shows" would exist only as a memory burned into the minds of the few people who looked at it sideway's for 2 minutes. I think a more acurate title for the film would be Mad Max 4 because this act belongs in a post apocolyptic world..
