Robert Crumb is known for his disturbing, yet compelling, underground cartoons: his most famous works made countercultural icons out of Mr. Natural ("Keep on Truckin'...") and Fritz the Cat. Terry Zwigoff delves into the odd world of the cartoonist in his documentary film Crumb, and the picture that emerges is not always pretty--at moments, it's almost repellent--but it's a fascinating glimpse into a very strange mind. Interviewing immediate family--Crumb has one suicidal brother, one semi-psychopathic brother, two sisters who declined to be interviewed, and a tyrannical mother--Crumb begins to look a bit saner. Given his surroundings, it's remarkable that he has survived so well. His hostilities toward women may turn some viewers off, but his wife, Aline, seems to be a grounding point, and she provides a solid counterbalance to the man. No one shies away from discussing incredibly intimate things (namely, sex!), which explains much of R. Crumb's cartoons. This documentary can definitely be considered a masterpiece for the cult crowd, and as for the rest of us, it's sure to make us feel a little better about our own lives! --Jenny Brown

Cromwell, Oklahoma, 1924: an oil boomtown full of saloons, cathouses, mud-and-crude-oil streets, bootleg whisky, and gun-toting roughnecks. Technology had overpassed the Old West, in the form of Model T's and oil rigs, but the mentality had stayed much the same. Add to that a population that's a bit tweaky from a combination of cocaine and morphine that had been going around, and you have a recipe for trouble. Enter Marshall Bill Tilghman, a contemporary of Wyatt Earp. Tilghman had made a silent film, The Passing of the Oklahoma Outlaws, and on the strength of his reputation had been called into service as chief of police in the hopes of restoring order to a lawless community. In this fact-based story, Sam Elliott plays Tilghman, a larger-than-life character who was one of the last of a dying era. Many Prohibition agents became renegades in the '20s; Tilghman's nemesis was Wiley (Arliss Howard), a rogue agent strung out on drugs and dealing in bootleg liquor himself. Howard's performance is as overwrought as Elliott's is restrained; together the two offset each other well. The flinty Elliott brings a measure of warmth to his role, especially in his relationship to his wife and kids; he's perfectly cast as the man on the cusp of a new age. As a modern-era Western, You Know My Name rises well above its made-for-cable roots to stand as a good character study and action picture. --Jerry Renshaw

Description

In six months, the population of Cromwell, Oklahoma, has climbed from 500 to 10,000. Boom times have come to the oil-rich town. So has a new breed of criminal. You Know My Name is the fact-based story of Bill Tilghman, a lawman and former partner of Wyatt Earp confronted by an emerging era when outlaws run whiskey instead of cattle and are likely to tote a tommy gun as carry a six-gun. An ideally cast Sam Elliott plays Tilghman, whose life takes on a newfangled wrinkle of its own. Tilghman makes a moving picture of his Old West exploits; and the success of that silent film, The Passing of the Oklahoma Outlaws, spreads his reputation like a brushfire. But that reputation may mean nothing to a thug (Arliss Howard) who hides behind a badge.

4 out of 5 stars You Know My Name.......2007-01-22

I'm a Sam Elliott fan ... and this was a good movie, but perhaps not in keeping with the other fine films that he has appeared in, such as The Quick and the Dead, or Connagher, where his abilities to portray a specific type of
character really showed up well. I think his portrail of a real life character in You Know My Name, sort of limited
what he could put into the role ... and of course, nobody likes to see the good guy get killed, even though the bad guy that did the killing eventually gets his in the end. Reminds me of John Wayne in the Cowboys ... the film wasn't so much about Wayne's character as it was about the young boys, and of course when the Duke bit the dust the film was really over ... ditto Elliott in this role.

3 out of 5 stars Another fine acting job by Sam Elliot.......2007-01-16

Well done portrayl by Sam Elliot of noted law man Bill Tilghman. Gritty and realistic but less action than most of Sam's western films.

4 out of 5 stars Sam Elliot at his usual.......2007-01-10

My interest in Tihlman arises from his connection with Louis L'Amour. He is supposed to have taught the young Louis and his elder brother how to use a six gun.

I was disappointed that the film only focussed on the last six to twelve months of Tihlmans life. That said the story and production are such that this is a DVD worthy of getting.

1 out of 5 stars Dissapointed.......2007-01-05

This movie is not worth Sam Elliot. I was very dissapointed, I will most likely thow it away.

5 out of 5 stars Very Well Done.......2006-11-02

As an Oklahoman, I remember thinking it was about time that Bill Tilghman had gotten his due when it came to a film about him. (I'd like to see Matt Braun's other book about him filmed.) I remember people in Oklahoma raising Cain, due to the fact it wasn't filmed in OK. However, if they don't make allowances to the film companies, it isn't going to happen. Some people complained about this and that when it came the the accuracy of the film, but this is based on a historical novel, aka fiction. It's not supposed to be 100% accurate. What is does do though, is entertain. Sam Elliot is perfect as Bill Tilghman, and I long for more films like this.

Description

David Lynch (Blue Velvet) presents one of the most critically acclaimed films ever made. A hilarious and mysterious journey through artistic genius and sexual obsession, CRUMB is a wild ride through the mind of Robert Crumb; creator of "Zap Comix," "Mr. Natural" and "Fritz the Cat." CRUMB enters a territory as spooky as it is fascinating... a portrait of the artist as misanthrope, as bad-boy visionary,as a joker and sex maniac and, finally, as hero. One of those rare film experiences that has the giddy effect of being a nightmare and a party at the same time.

5 out of 5 stars A powerful documentary.......2007-06-28

Robert Crumb has already been identified in the counterculture of the late 1960s and early 1970s as a creator of the cartoon characters Fritz the Cat (that was turned in a first X-rated feature animated film which Crumb passionately hates) and Mr. Natural and for cover art for Big Brother and the Holding Company's Cheap Thrills. Terry Zwigoff's documentary examines a man behind his works, his tastes, hobbies, and phobias and the forces that have contributed to producing a very original and controversial art.

Director Terry Zwigoff spent six years in making the portrait of an Artist as seen by Crumb himself, his spouses, ex-girlfriends, his son Jesse, various artists and art critics, and the members of his family. Speaking of the strange and dysfunctional families, Grumb clan could definitely take a prize. Of three brothers, only Robert Crumb was able to come through his upbringing with his sanity, talent, and ability to create and to communicate still intact but at the same time, he is a man with many inner demons, sexual and psychological that he reveals and fights through his art. His two brothers, Maxon who is a confessed sex-offender and Charles who had lived all his life in his mother's house and would commit suicide one year after he gave the interviews for the film, were both gifted artists themselves but they could not leave their childhood memories of a father, an "overbearing tyrant" and "sadistic bully", and a mother who became an amphetamine addict behind them and to move on with their lives. The interviews with Charles and Maxon are devastating, shocking, and very sad. It would be interesting to listen to their two sisters but they refused to talk in front of camera for the film.

The most fascinating aspect of the film is the fact that a viewer does not have to be a comic book fan or have knowledge of the counterculture or the specific cartoon characters to appreciate and admire it. I am not a comic books expert or fan. I've heard of Crumb before but only in regards to the films that also have impressed me a lot, "Ghost World" and "American Splendor". It did not stop me from realizing that the documentary about Robert Crumb, his life, his works, his struggle, his anger, his obsession with sex, his non-conformism, non-sentimentality, his rejection to do mainstream even it means saying "No" to making a lot of money, and his ability to look at the circumstances and deal with them with a dry humor is an amazing document which provides a thought-provoking character study and the deep psychological insight in the creative mind of an artist.

4 out of 5 stars Crumb: Mad magazine on steroids.......2007-05-23

I saw this documentary when it was first released, and just watched it again on DVD. Twelve years of life experience have made me appreciate the film just that much more.

I've never been a Crumb fan or anything, but it's still a good story. I can recognize his cartoons for the satirical things they often are, and I think he likes women a lot more than he realizes. That he is as normal as he appears to be, given his family background, is quite remarkable. One wonders what his sisters must be like, and why they declined to participate in this movie.

3 out of 5 stars Not much to celebrate.......2007-04-05

This is an unimpressive film about an unimpressive character who draws prodigiously and has unaccountably grown famous enough to create New Yorker covers.

The documentary probably gives an accurate assessment of Robert Crumb's life. But until Crumb graduated to New Yorker covers---a period not discussed here---neither his life nor his "art" were much to write home about.

As a former editor of Mother Jones put it, Crumb lives in an "arrested juvenile state," with an "arrested juvenile vision," as represented for example by his comic, Joe Blow, an "over the line satire," about a "1950s American family in denial," but simultaneously a "self indulgent fantasy," a descent into pornography, in which Crumb created a father who commands his daughter to give him oral sex, whose "Leave it to Beaver" son tells Mom, whose wife dresses in a sadomasochistic costume, and who ends up saying "we should spend more time with kids."

The film includes some rather pornographic scenes of real life, in addition to the camera shots of Crumb's pornographic comics. In one scene, for example, he joins a semi-naked lady in lewd positions.

Additionally, there are the lewd comments of pornography magazine editor Dian Hanson, concerning Crumb's personal sexual activity. How, pray tell, is this relevant to a documentary concerning art?

Crumb may have graduated to New Yorker covers. But that doesn't in any way justify his pornographic predilections.

What is there to celebrate here? It's a story about an unaccountable sad sack. Watching it was a waste of my time.

--Alyssa A. Lappen

4 out of 5 stars Slow at Times, but Good Overall.......2007-03-04

First off, the "controversy" over whether or not Crumb is a racist doesn't exist. Frank observations about another person's race, crossing over into the insensitive, don't prove racism. Having said that, it's certainly an offbeat documentary; it has the low-budget, amateurish feel to it that can make or break a movie. In this case, it makes it; I just would not want a well-budgeted, wide screen, technically perfect film on the subject of R. Crumb. And, let's face it, the critics comparing him with Goya, or whoever, are jokes. The guy is a freakin' cartoonist, for crying out loud. I don't know what real admirers of Crumb's "art" think, but for the casual observer, I can easily recommend this.

5 out of 5 stars The artist can see where others only look........2007-02-15

I am a 71 year old retired engineer with a Celtic background,Irish and Scotch, living up here in the Great White North .I am about as far along the conventional spectrum as Crumb is along the non-conventional.I have been a fan of all sorts of comics since a kid. Growing up I was fascinated by the comics of the 40's and 50's. Our's was the era of Dick Tracy,L'il Abner,Pogo,Little Orphan Annie,Joe Paloka,Superman,Crime Comics, and on and on .In those days everyone, young and old, followed the daily comics or as we called them "The Funnies" However;they were not always funny,as a matter of fact, they were downright serious;and if the truth were really known,we probably learned more about life from the comics that from anything else, including school..Oh yeah, then there was the Pool Hall;but that was totally different educational institution. That was where you learned to take responsibility for your actions. There one learned; "The Lesson you paid for,the Experience was free."
So,why would an old duffer like me watch and enjoy this Video so much?
Well, although I'm an engineer ,I really enjoy many forms of art.I prefer Realism,Graphics,Illustration,Nature Art,and particularly the art intergal to cartoons and especially Comics.I am a big fan of Doonesbury and find Trudeau's art very interesting.
Again ,so why Crumb? My interest in "recent" comics has fairly well waned since my local paper carries only Doonesbury which is of interest to me. I am fascinated with the artwork we see in Fantasy and Sci Fi but I don't follow or read that.
I am also fascinated with some of the illustration that the young people are doing. It is extremely good but the storyline is a disconnect with me.Don't take me wrong,I realize each new generation's taste changes.
I have picked up some of Crum's books and was really taken with his artwork;and have often wondered what sort of mind would produce this sort of thing.
This Video does an excellent job of showing the personality of Crum and what and why he drew the comics he did. We are given an in depth view into Crum's mind and those of the rest of the family. To say they are unusual is a great understatement. So often, we see that great artists walk to a different drummer. We also get a great insight into the enviroment where Crum lived. It is only through such a different lifestyle that provides a fertile imagination to develop.Could anyone ever believe that Crum grew up and lived in a conventional neighborhood?
I was really taken by watching Crum actually drawing. The way he handles a pen and transfers ideas from his mind into images on paper ;it is simply magical.
For a very personal insight into the mind of a one-of-a-kind artist;you would be hard pressed to find anything better.

This movie and "Uncle Buck" are two of my favorite "Candy" films". John Candy has put out other greats as well but my top 2 are the above. In this movie, Candy is a bumbling detective but seems to get the job done "the Candy way". He knows everything, but what is going on! It's Great! The rest of the cast are irreplaceable. But It, Watch It.

Child molester Jeffrey Jones (Ferris

Even worse on them in Wagons East (*.5)!

5 out of 5 stars WHO'S HARRY CRUMB? YOU WON'T BE SORRY YOU ASKED!.......2005-11-27

IN A NUTSHELL -- "WHO IS HARRY CRUMB?":

John Candy plays bumbling Harry Crumb, the last survivor of a family of great detectives. This Crumb works in the agency his legendary grandfather founded, but he's been exiled to their "Greater Tulsa" office. Eliot Draisen (Jeffrey Jones) who somehow has become the Director of "Crumb and Crumb" assigns the inept Harry Crumb to find the kidnapped daughter of a multi-millionaire (played by the affable Barry Corbin from TV's "Northern Exposure"). There is a catch, however ... Draisen doesn't want the kidnappers found, for reasons of his own. While Crumb bumbles along through various mishaps (aided by his able assistant, Shawnee Smith) which are articulated via a series of ridiculously funny comedy skits, the kidnappers feel completely secure. In the meantime, Elliot Draisen tries to have his way with the millionaire's wife (Annie Potts), but does that have anything to do with the plot?

OKAY IT SOUNDS KIND OF PAT -- BUT:

In "Who's Harry Crumb?", it's all in the execution. The series of vignettes that make up the heart of the film are John Candy at his best. He plays a series of "under-cover" impersonations that run the gamut from Middle Eastern Vice-President of operations to a blonde transvestite [in the epilogue]. The idea is that somehow, despite his penchant for being a complete idiot, he somehow catches the kidnappers, by accident. But -- not before breaking his boss's prize dinosaur eggs [literally] and everthing else that gets in his way. We can see what's happening, but it is the way that Crumb gets from point A to point B that makes this film entertaining and worth watching.

ABOUT THE DVD:

If being able to add English Subtitles and select scenes are features, then this DVD has features. It is, however, an excellent transfer in "Widescreen Format" and an obvious improvement over the VHS offering.

POST SCRIPT:

This is one of Candy's better efforts and he is largely a one-man band. His impersonations are all quite funny and truly ridiculous, especially the one where he plays Hungarian executive, DuJour Dioche. Here he goes from having excessive chest hair to having a beard in the wink of an eye. The skits alone make this a must-see for all and a must-have for any Candy fans.

This film was released in February of 1989 and grossed $11 million. He managed to make another 18 films before he died of a heart attack in his sleep on location of the film "Wagons East", in Durango, Mexico on March 4, 1994. He was 43.

A made-for-TV movie originally broadcast on VH1, this film bio of the Monkees casts look-alikes as the first made-for-TV rock band (today's equivalent: O-Town). Told in broad strokes that hit the highlights, the film recounts how a TV producer (played by Colin Ferguson) decided to create a TV version of the Beatles by casting cute actors (musicianship was only a secondary requirement) as rock stars for a weekly comedy series. But surprise--producer Don Kirshner (Wallace Langham) was able to manufacture musical hits and the mock band became a rock band with musical ambitions of its own. The actors who play the Monkees look (but don't sound) like their characters, as do actors who were hired to play the Beatles and Jimi Hendrix, among others. Still, with the exception of a little pot-smoking, there's nothing particularly juicy in a tell-all that doesn't tell nearly as much as you'd like. --Marshall Fine

3 out of 5 stars Good Movie, but what's with the DVD?.......2007-05-27

I saw this movie on VH-1, and I was pleasantly surprised. To be perfectly frank, I thought the movie was going to feature Davy, Davy, Davy, and more Davy (sorry folks, I'm not really a big fan of Davy). I was surprised to learn that Mike had a pretty big part in this. I'm also surprised they included a character of Mike's first wife, Phyllis.

I was very disappointed when I bought the DVD. I had taped it off VH-1 the night it premiered, and then I bought the DVD for a better quality copy. For some reason that I can not begin to figure out, some of the scenes were edited. I had read the rating for this. It was rated PG-13 for drug references, but most of them were cut out. Why they did that, I have no idea.

4 out of 5 stars New Favorite Monkee.......2007-05-03

well, that's what happened when I watched the movie and listened to the commentaries.

Anwyay, it was a great movie, well done, and very interesting. An excellent Bio-drama. I've always been a monkee fan since I was little (during the "revival" in the 80's). I thought I was going to stop breathing when I heard they were putting this out in the summer of 00. LOL. .

Here's my take on the actors potrayal of the mOnkees

Jeff Geddis as Mike Nesmith: Acting: Great. Had the personality, did a good job. People are probably right though when they say he should have had a heavier texas accent. Looks- #1 dead ringer. The only difference was his frame. Nesmith seems to me to be much finer-boned and "scrawnier" than Geddis. But of the four boys, he looked most like his Monkee. Overall a great job in all aspects of potraying Nez.

L.B. Fisher as Peter Tork: I was pleased. Great acting, great potrayal of the REAL Tork (not the one we saw on the show, which was really nothing like his real personality). Looks: Definitely #2 closest look-alike in the show. Great performance. Too bad they couldn't have somehow given him killer dimples. Sigh.. oh well... guess makeup can only do SO much, right?

Aron Lohr as Mickey Dolenz: My favorite potrayal in the movie. Yes, he doesn't look that much like Dolenz, but how easy would it be to find a ringer for Mickey? I mean, come on, Dolenz had one of the most unique faces I've ever seen! You can't really expect them to be able to find a dead ringer. Alot of people complained about the inaccuracy of the hair (season 1 vs Season 2) They say DOlenz should have not been potrayed the whole time in wild curls. I for one am not gong to blame the producers of DDB. I mean, when i was little I thought of Mickey as the "not so good looking" monkee. I now know I was mostly thinking of season 1. His earlier hair style was NOT flattering at ALL. I for one am not going to blame them for not reproducing it. Dolenz's natural wild curls (potrayed in the movie very realistically) were MUCh more suited to that unique face. Anyway, have to say he's #3 in he look-alike ranking. But his acting and potrayal of the Zany monkee is so perfect that you forget his looks and really believe your watching Mickey. Just listen to Dolenz's commentary and you'll see that Lohr got the personality spot on. Sorry Peter, if Mickey had've looked like Lohr, he would have DEFINITELY been my favorite Monkee heartthrob. LOL

Stanchev as Davy Jones. sigh.. That choice is the one thing I wish I could change about this movie. Surely there is SOME cutie short 17 year old (the age Jones actually LOOKED when he was a Monkee) in England that can act as well as Stanchev, and look a whole lot more like Jones. Stanchev did nothing for me. He looked over 30, and as I said, Jones as a monkee could've passed for 17. He wasn't cute at all. You'd think Davy's breathtaking looks (the thing he was so famous for) would be a HIGH priority in casting, but they let us down here. I give him Kudos for replicating Davy's dancing, and that's about it. I guess I got ENOUGH of an impression of shortness from him. too.

So, I reccomend this movie to any Monkee lover or biopic fan. IT's really well scripted, and except for the casting of Jones, it's a great movie anyway. The commentaries are Great. I was always in love with Peter, (to this day I have a thing for killer dimples and a boyish innocent grin) but after listening to all the commentaries and getting an idea of their real personalities, I think I would have enjoyed being around Dolenz alot more. I LOVED his wacky comments, and the way he kept saying "What a great looking kid! Wow, where did they find this kid" in reference to Lohr. LOL one of the other real monkees even said "Mickey must be happy with his casting." Yes, Lohr was kinda hot as the high-energy monkee. Yes, cuter than the Real M.D. But if Dolenz had always had his hair natural, he'd have been alot cuter too, so I'll give him some credit.

4 out of 5 stars OK film, but commentaries make it worthwhile.......2007-04-30

I agonized over what rating to give DAYDREAM BELIEVERS, because while it's fun to watch, it has some serious shortcomings too. To start with some of the positives, it's an enjoyable and decently produced film, and the actors playing the Monkees certainly look and act their parts well. I like too that the decision was made to use the original audio recordings of the group when the actors re-created their musical performances.
However, if you listen to the commentaries on the DVD by the director and three of the Monkees - Peter Tork, Micky Dolenz, and Davy Jones - you discover that there are a lot of inaccuracies in the film. Some are minor, such as showing all four Monkees together almost all the time, when in reality some were absent in certain situations. But some errors are unforgivable, such as taking a moment of major conflict between Jones and Tork, which actually happened, and creating a totally fictional background for it! However, the consensus seems to be that despite the inaccuracies, the overall gist of the Monkees' story shown here is true. Also, at 91 minutes long, there's a rather rushed feeling to DAYDREAM BELIEVERS, so it mostly just hits the highlights.

The interviews of Jones, Dolenz, and Tork on the DVD are interesting too, and give updates on what the three of them have been up to since the Sixties. The film itself is weak on this, and should at least have dealt with the breakup of the group in 1970, rather than tacking on a fictional "happy ending" and stopping there. In sum, thanks to the commentaries and interviews I recommend this DVD, but without them I would hesitate to. So does it really deserve 4 stars? OK, so it's not a CASABLANCA or a 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY, but still it's a fun nostaligia trip if you care at all about the Monkees.

3 out of 5 stars Bunch of cheese but aims to please.......2007-03-17

This movie is full of cheese, but cheese that you can enjoy. It even has cheesy characters in it including the bad impersonations of The Beatles and Jack Nickolson. The die hard Monkees fans would be able to spot all the inacuracies, a lot of them being in the scene where they do the video for Daydream Believer. But the biggest inacuracy in the movie is, who in the world is that Van guy? The guys who portray The Monkees do a great job at re-inacting parts from the show. However their personal portrayal of the guys goes as following: horrible Davy, ok Peter, great Micky, and a spot on Mike. Any one would agree that the cheesiest part of the movie is the cheese-filled happy happy happy 60s beach party movie type ending. If you know The Monkees history at all you'd know that the Monkees story didn't end nearly that happy, or happy at all for that matter. The over all movie was pretty good since it did do a good job at telling the true behind the scenes story of The Monkees. All in all if you're a Monkees fan at all and you enjoy cheese then this is a good movie to watch.

3 out of 5 stars Great look alikes, but ended bad........2006-07-23

I began watching the Monkees back in the mid 80's when MTV re-aired their 2 wonderfull seasons. I was hooked. I bought all their albums, books, posters you name it. Anyhow the story played well to what I learned over the years. The actors were perfect. I wish Mike though had been a little more accepting of the situation and just went about there short career as a great way to make a living. But it seemed that his anger passed on over the rest and 2 seasons of The Monkees was all we got. I understand the music issues of wanting to play and to get Kirshner out of there but I really think they could have finished out the decade. The movie shows the Monkees right up to the Movie "Head". What I didn't like was them on the beach laughing like "oh well what a ride but it's over" because it wasn't that way. They did their 33 and 1/3 Revolutions TV show and then Peter split. The movie really doesn't finish up anything. I was expecting to see words on the screen explaing what happens after "Head" and they didn't. Anyone watching this bio would think everything was just peachy after the show ended. I didn't get it at the end there. I did like all the actors like Nicholson and Hendrix. The Beatles were pretty accurate too.

I was always a big Mike fan but that movie really made him look like a jerk. His songs are still my favorites. Too bad "Head" wasn't advertised as a Monkees movie or it may have done better. That's pretty much what killed them. As for this movie it's a great bio of the band and well acted but the end really dissapoints.

Customer Reviews:

3 out of 5 stars Milla Jovovich shines!.......2006-06-02

Sure, it's derivative. You've seen this story before. Maybe a hundred times. But this differs from the rest of the romantic comedies for one very big reason -- Milla Jovovich.

Jovovich is utterly charming throughout this movie. Until now, I knew her as a sci-fi action star and gorgeous model. But she shines in this film. Even when she's muttering the silliest lines fed to her by this so-so, been-there-done-that script, Milla is the "real deal."

I give this movie just three stars (based fully on Milla Jovovich's performance). She's so good, and I adored her so much in this movie, that I might just add it to my DVD collection. Even with only three stars.

3 out of 5 stars refreshing....smartly done...spirited...uplifting.......2006-02-13

what striked me as surprising in this romcom is the sincerity on how the screenwriters sketched these characters...not in the "i am here take me...i am the love of your life" but on the more realistic as you can get in screen...sure there's the usual laws of romcoms in here...boy get dump, boy get bad date, boy meet girl, boy-girl falls in love....but in the mid-points of this you get not actors but real people with their real emotions...case in point, after a meeting with ex, boy runs to "friend"'s house, instead of the usual crying and lets get to sex, its more like "i am here to help you" kinda vibe...which is refreshing....of course, you wanna take your romcoms with a grain of salt, but this one really trully uplifted the lameness that crosses the movie landscape (yes, i am talking to you elizabethtown!). the players: the star of numb3rs and milla "resident evil", and ex-mrs sheen all do excellent work...specially i was really feeling good that the leads had an awesome chemestry. you can feel it in the air...and funny thing, supporting cast...one of the balwins (awesomely bad boy with a love for his brother), and the friends of the lead (sorry i didnt caught their names) played pretty good as matchmakers...all in all, you're not going to take this for an oscar marathon, but surely right there in the top 10 romcoms in my list...
