4 out of 5 stars If you were there, you'll get a kick out of this.......2007-06-09

I really enjoyed this, but I'm a big Drag racing fan. It was fun to look at a snapshot of 1968 california. And if you watch NHRA drag racing, you'll really enjoy the Mike Dunn parts. It's inexpensive, and it's a part of history, I think you'll like it.

2 out of 5 stars Dunn Family Home Video.......2007-05-07

The title of the video would have been more appropriately called the Dunn Family Home Video, in my opinion. It was not what I expected it to be, as I had hoped to see more 70ish Funny Car Drag Racing cometition. The video follows the Dunn Family during a summer, and most of the footage is of them and not drag racing Funny Cars...Disappointing to me, but a real gem for a Jim Dunn fan!

4 out of 5 stars Funny car legond.......2007-03-08

Jim Dunn is one of the legonds of drag racing. This film offers an amazing glimpse into 'how it was' before all the huge sponsorships, hospitality tents, multi-car crews, etc. The day when a group of guys can get together and build a car more out of love, dedication, and hard work than money - long gone!

4 out of 5 stars The Good Old Days, revisited!!.......2006-11-05

I grew up with drag racing in the '50s, 60s & 70s and this film gives a great view of what it was like. Saturday night match races with cars worked on by a bunch of guys in dirty Tee Shirts and racing for just a small amount of cash and a trophy. This gritty picture is in stark contrast to today's professional Drag Racing. I enjoy todays races for their speed but I miss the "Little Guy" races of the past. If you want to see how Drag Racing got it's start this is a great film to watch. Eye candy for "Gear Heads"!!

5 out of 5 stars Withstands The Test Of Time.......2006-10-24

It is amazing that this documentary made in the 70's still holds the knowledgable Drag Racing fan captive. Once you get past the "dated" technology, and quaint "surf film" feel of the production, you are immediately engrossed in the topic matter...a true reflection of the dedication, trials and trivails that the pioneers of the sport imparted on what Drag Racing has become today. It pulls back the curtain of what it took to pursue "the perfect run"... at the strips, but also at the shop, and at home. You get REAL, unabashed, politically INCORRECT comments and reflections from Jim Dunn, his crew, and other racers. My favorite line is "Big Jim" explaining why he red-lighted...."the lights were late". If you are a Drag Racing Junkie, especially one who got the bug in the 60's-70's, you must have this gem. It will make you appreciate the progress made to the present day, but also make you yearn for those days when GUTS, were as important as the latest camshaft.
