I have been using my Callenetics VHS tape for 19 years. I am so glad to see it on DVD! I am 46 years old and I feel as strong today as I did in my 20's. Don't let the dated leotards and hair styles fool you...it works and it works fast.

I was happy to locate this item at Amazon since I had been searching for it for quite a long time. I had purchased this program on VCR several years ago and wanted to have it in DVD form to make it convenient to continue using with today's equipment. I was very pleased when the item arrived even earlier than I expected and in excellent condition.

I purchased this DVD in June. I believed that it wasn't chaptered, and was surprised and happy to find that the chapters worked perfectly. I have a background in ballet and Pilates. So, I recognized Pilates in the abdominal exercises (100s) and the ballet stretches on the barre. The look may be outdated, but the content is as worthwhile today as it always was. While it is true that sustained stretches are now considered preferable to "bouncing" stretches, Callanetics "bouncing" is only a quarter of an inch or less - not much. This DVD is a good example of, "there's nothing new under the sun" and, "everything old becomes new again". I was totally ASTONISHED by the realization that Callanetics must be the inspiration and foundation for the "Fluidity" barre and companion exercise approach (I have the product.). I think that the instruction on this DVD is outstanding, along with the corrections for achieving better form and preventing injury. I'm so happy with this DVD that I purchased a used copy of the companion book - along with Super Callanetics - which I have not yet tried. I just wish that I could work with the instructor here in the Southwest...

Tediously long, hilariously dated, and INCREDIBLY EFFECTIVE.......2007-05-31

This is the most effective workout I've ever experienced. When I was using this DVD every day I had the perfect body and I could eat and wear anything I wanted. Nowadays I usually alternate it with other workout DVDs, but it's always nearby. I usually at least do the ab section if I have a cardio day. It requires a chair or something that you can use as a barre, and a mat if you don't have carpet. One thing: in this day and age it's not recommended to perform a ballistic stretch (bouncing stretch, as in the leg stretches) so I generally just hold the stretch without pulsing and it is still very effective. Use your own discretion, but that is my "warning".

Great Exercise Video.......2007-05-30

I first found this exercise video 20 years ago. And always had great results with using the exercises. Then I wasn't able to find it until now. Very happy to be reunited with it. I recommend it for building a stronger, firmer body.

I was simply touched by this film even after seeing it twice. Regardless of any religious beliefs you may or may not have, the lesson taught in this film is that love, forgiveness, and asking for forgiveness (repenting) will keep you from a wasted life of hatered and bitterness. Harboring those two things will eat you alive from the inside out.

End of the Spear Film Review.......2007-06-14

FoxFaith's "End of the Spear" was on my list of must-sees immediately after the DVD release. I was very pleased with what I saw. Great casting and stunning locations made this film seem very real. The story is a compelling and suspenseful one. All of the scenes are extremely well-written and choreographed. It's a little drawn out for about the last 17 minutes of the film, but this is not a major setback considering the quality of the motion picture itself. Above all else, everything even the names are historically accurate, down to every meticulous detail. A must see for EVERYONE!

Not Made By Christians?.......2007-06-08

This story of Christian missionaries who died at the hands of the very men they intended to introduce to the love of God is a powerful story, and when friends enthusiastically recommended the DVD to me, I decided to buy it.

It proved to be something of a disappointment, as it became clear from the start that the film was not made by Christians. I kept looking for signs of the heartfelt devotion of the missionaries to the God they so passionately loved as to be willing to die for Him, but in the scenes of their daily lives, they seemed to be very ordinary people. Sadly, the missionaries were made to appear simply as curious adventurers who went out to a jungle to see what they might do to help some natives.

This movie seems aimed at the secular public in general. It will not serve to inspire the many Christians who, like me, might buy the film to derive some inspiration.

I love the whole plot of the movie and really wished they had Misty in somewhere because this would be here element. But the voice-over is something to be desired it's not that I totally hate the voices it's not that it just takes some getting used to.

Pokémon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea Review.......2007-05-13

Well basically this is a movie about how Ash and friends encounter a Manaphy Pokémon Egg from a traveling performers. One of the people there is a Pokémon Ranger who's mission is to get Manaphy back into the sea to find the Sea Temple to protect it from the evil Phantom the Pirate who is after the Sea Crown.

The movie is pretty good, some will think it's similar to how Max & Jirachi became really close; May becomes really close to Manaphy, whom thinks May is it's mother. (kinda like Togepi with Misty)

I myself thought they could've had alot more battling in this movie since the point of Pokémon is to battle and collect Pokémon, this is why I only give it 4 stars, because it could've been so much better.

Pretty graphic but somewhat ineffectual.......2007-06-30

I think maybe I heard or read too much hype for this "most controversial movie ever." I was set for a letdown. Not that this movie was bad, it's just that I expected something a little higher up on the brutality scale.
Here's the setup--A few reporters get a not-so-brilliant idea of organizing a jaunt into the heart of darkness. An isolated, sort of mystically savage region of evil, where a tribe of cannibals hideout in the jungle.
Of course the danger is gonna be imminent. Do you think these indigenous people-eaters are just gonna smile and give you an interview? No,no,no--when you knock on hell's door, don't be suprised when the devil answers.
Much of this movie is their lost video footage that was recovered (Blair Witch, you copycats). There is some pretty graphic rape and torture scenes. But, I've seen worse in movies, like Irreversible, Chaos, or Man Bites Dog. There really are no over-the-top moments that made me shudder.
So if your looking for some extreme vulgarity to make you scream or vomit, or something to cause irreperable brain damage, you might be let down.
It was a nice try though.

THE REAL DEAL.......2007-06-21

Believe the hype, this movie is awesome. Not only are the animal killings real, the human mutilations are just as realistic. A perfect combination of violence and docu-drama. I wish someone after 1990 could make a sicko horror movie that looks and feels as real as this masterpiece.

After watching this film you can hear the producer's mind ticking "mmmh how can we make a naughty taboo film which will keep the suckers coming because of its reputation for being outrageous."Outside of that it is BORING BORING BORING .NO plot.No suspense.You get de-sensitized after a few killings/rapes.So my aren't we clever to drag animals onstage and kill them inhumanely=CHEAP.Phony muzac throughout.Phony acting and dialogue.Out of boredom i was hoping the gore and sadism would get worse.It didn't.This film will manipulate empty people titillated by sensationalism.I had to click up 1 star to obey format and rate Cannibal Hollowcrap minus 5 stars.

One can see cleary through this movie, that was made to shock the audience
of that time (late 70-80's). A movie portraying stupid people is not new, but killing /butchering animals for the love of moviemaking usually points out what kind of crap was behind this film. If you research this movie on the internet you will find out that some of the movie crews were against the animal killings...hey but the head huncho bypassed all concerns and the killings went on.
The story and movie itself was interesting and the jungle and outside location shots gave the film a boost. At least these days,if they ever remake this film, cgi and special effects will save the animals
...i hope. A film not for the squeemish,, you have cannibalism, rape,torture,
and other stuff that horror/gore audience will like.

Far more real than you think.......2007-06-07

Visceral is the best description I can give this movie. I am a lover of gore and horror, but in this flick I actually cringe. The inhumanity and savagery of it, the revelations of primitive human instinct, the very real, documentary style serving as an eye into the subconscious of man: this movie will touch you and you will feel dirty because of it.

DARLING...SIT, DRINK, SURRENDER.......2007-07-04

QUEEN OF OUTER SPACE is a lot like make-up... it takes a combination of many parts to create the perfect face, and that's what we have here in this (at long last) DVD release of one of the best and most complete "B" movies ever made.

I discovered QUEEN OF OUTER SPACE while working at a video store. To pass the time I put in this preplexing film for store play and was won over right from the opening. It was garish, glossy, frothy, sultry and all toppped off with dashes of pepper, salt and gold dust. It's a fashion runway with a plot. It features I LOVE LUCY lite comdey mixed with tongue twisting mad schemes and jabs at the basic nature of women themselves. Their vanity, their driving skills and the fact that their hair-brained ideas are more hair (cut and styled to perfection) than brain. A day didn't go by when I played this in store that a woman wouldn't come up and demand to know what I was playing, and why. But, once I introduced them to the box, the film was rented the very next second. The QUEEN OF OUTER SPACE was something that had to be seen to be believed and here's your chance. I have to admit, I love this film. It's not perfect, it borrows heavily from other films for its effects and costumes, and there are times when the balance of comdey and drama lurch abruptly from one scene to the next... but, as a whole, it works and works very well.

While Zsa Zsa gets top billing, she is not the QUEEN OF OUTER SPACE, but the very model of a brilliant scientist with perfect taste in clothing and men. The QUEEN herself (Laurie Mitchell) is pure beast, yet still a beauty, just so long as you don't look at her face. You couldn't ask for a better pair for these roles... it's all snarling and darling and a riot from start to finish.

Commentary is included and hosted by one of all time favorites, Tom Weaver. And he brought with him the QUEEN herself, Laurie Mitchell, and while I can't say this is the best commentary done by Weaver (there are too many gaps and long stretches of silence durning the commentary, so long in fact that I thought my copy may have had a fault. I'm used to Weaver spilling information like a waterfall - endless and always rushing to fit it all in the time allowed - he's not like that here), it is still a fun and heartfelt commentary from both Weaver and Mitchell, and will learn you a thing or two... such as the family connection between Paris Hilton and Zsa Zsa Gabor, something I never knew.

Overall, QUEEN OF OUTER SPACE is a must have for any collector. It's a fun, funny and furious film that even a hundred years from now will still delight and entertain. So, don't pass this chance to have an audience with the QUEEN and enjoy.

Matinee Madness.......2007-06-28

I saw this as a kid at the matinee. That queen being unmasked has stood out in my mind since. This is just fun movie to watch with family and friends. In the early Sixties it was wonderful entertainment for boys. Now even though much of there dialogue and acting is laughable, it brings smiles to all. I got this as part of a set and I'm glad I did. My wife and I couldn't help wondering as we watched it if some of the movie crew went on to do "Star Trek" a few years later. I certainly pointed out the "Forbidden Planet" costumes and props to my wife. This is one old SciFi color movie that should be good entertainment for most families even today. Fans of the MST3K series should especially enjoy it.

Pure Camp at its greatest! Thank you Laurie Mitchell!!!!.......2007-06-27

QOOS was made around the time was born. I have fond childhood memories of this movie, not as camp, but as a really scary movie. Now, of course, I see it for what it is: pure camp and great fun. Taken seriously one might think that it was one bad movie. It isn't. It is like an Andy Warhol painting. It captures a moment in time: 50's Sci-Fi as a spoof.

I have actually waited along time for this widescreen DVD release, which btw is fantastic - no complaints at all. However, I think the greatest feature is the commentary of Laurie Mitchell who plays the Queen, a thankless job since she has to wear a mask and makeup during the whole picture. But what a sweet Lady! I can not think of a more appropriate person to do this.

Another feature is that during the commentary some deleted scenes are enacted by Ms. Mitchell, and let me tell you, she is still great and can be terrifying in her role. Just perfect! Thank you Laurie!!! 5 stars.

I remember in the early 1960's waking up on Saturday mornings in New York to catch the Sci Fi flicks on Ch.9. They used to run Queen Of Outer Space
frequently.This dvd features a commentary by Laurie Mitchell which was fantastic.Laurie Mitchell acts out some deleted scenes not shown in the film and let me tell you "The Queen" has still got it!!! A must for Sci Fi fans Indeed.

Peerless schlockfest of chauvinist kitsch.......2007-05-19

What if they made a science fiction movie that embodied every sexist cliché from the fifties that you can remember, along with some you probably forgot? What if a quartet of intrepid Earth astronauts crash-landed on Venus, only to find it populated entirely by bar hostesses in short skirts and high heels? What if all the Venusian men had been killed? Or banished? Or something? What if the absence of men to attract didn't stop the gals from developing lipstick, mascara, seamless hose, and gold lamé pumps? And ray guns? What if this all-babe civilization was so advanced that its chief scientist was ... Zsa Zsa Gabor? What if queen Laurie Mitchell, radiating a deliciously Freudian hostility to the male intruders, was so demented that she planned to destroy Earth by activating the Beta Disintegrator? And what if the Beta Disintegrator looked like a pasteboard privy under a pop-art parasol?

Well, there's more, much more, to say about Queen Of Outer Space ... but I won't be saying it. I'm already in a near stupor from kitsch overload - sort of the cinematic equivalent of a sugar high. The only cure is an emergency trip to the local cocktail lounge to knock back a couple quick ones. Maybe I'll try a beta disintegrator - very dry, with just a touch of soda. Preferably served by an alluring retro chick in a gauzy mini-frock and stiletto heels. Just hope she's not packing a ray gun ...

Even though I'm in Australia, I bought this item because of the fantastic price for my partner. The whole series cost about the same as the first two volumes cost in Australia.
Seinfeld is a fantastic, hilarious show. We've been watching it every weekend since it arrived.

When i was a kid I had two main heroes, He-man and Conan well and maybe JOhn Wayne and Vincent Price!! I am now 24, I always loved the Conan films they are in my top five fantasy films, always enjoyable to watch, The first Conan is great, the 2nd was good more kid friendly and then theres Red Sonja, It's more liek Conan the destroyer, its pretty good but not as good. I still enjoy it, it is what it is! Its a film you either like ot dont like. As a kid my dad had to rent it over and over,The last time I had seen it I was maybe 8 years old. I just recently puchased it two days ago, and I have to admit those old kid feelings came back, and if a film can do that it's gets a good grade in my book.

Emerald Forest Illustration for La Ciudad de las Bestias.......2007-01-19

As a teacher of a University in High School course, I was amazed at the ability to use the Emerald Forest as illustration for the story La Ciudad de las Bestias, by Isabel Allende. The customs, living conditions and beliefs of indigenous people of the Amazon (the setting of her story), are helpful in understanding the culture alluded to in the novel. The only problem for use in certain venues might be that it is rated R. The natural magazine/channel display of lack of dress of the natives might make showing of the movie prohibitive in some circumstances.

A Masterpiece - A Story Well Told..........2006-11-02

For YEARS I looked for this movie after seeing it on the big screen. Couldn't find it. Then one year I came across an old rental being sold and bought it. Many years later, I found a bunch of old copies on eBay.

This movie was structured so well that I wanted it in my collection from day 1. I LOVE this movie - and how well the story is crafted. I've told all my friends about it for years.

If you like a well crafted story, a good story, get this one. They don't make them like this often.

Based on the other reviews I was looking forward to this workout, even knowing the limitations some of the other reviews mentioned (outdated filming, etc). This didn't offer me anything new or special - the exercises here can be found in newer and more challenging Pilates and ballet-style workouts. I am now selling my once used copy here in the Amazon marketplace for someone who may enjoy this more.

This workout is not easy, but it works. My body has tightened up tremendously from Callanetics. This workout looks easy but is not for begginers. I recommend Begginers Callanetics before attempting this one.

For a workout of this type, Bar Method and Lotte Berk are much better--with safer variations on the positions, useful transitions between exercises, greater attention to stretching, and also better camera work. I came away from Super Callanetics with a few new moves, but no desire to run the whole DVD again (and, yes, chapter encoding should have been done). Sadly, this workout feels as old-fashioned as it looks. I gave it 2 stars, instead of 3, because there are better alternatives out there.

I am a pretty strong person. I have 8 years of ballet training and have been doing pilates for over a year. The people doing this video are freakishly strong and yet appear to have no muscle definition (like barbie). I think this type of exercise is a good deal more cerebral than any fitness routine I have worked with and I do hope I will be able to master some of the technique in a years' time.
