The premise behind the Up series is deceptively simple: take a cross-section of children at age 7, ask them about their hopes for the future, and then return every seven years to mark their progress. However, the results of these experiments, launched in 1963 by Britain's Granada Television, are anything but mundane, and their revelations about society, maturation, and the human condition were compiled into six extraordinary films, packaged together for the first time in this five-disc set. We meet the 14 children whose lives we will follow for the next 36 years in Seven Up, a episode of the television series The World in Action and directed by Paul Almond. What becomes evident almost immediately is that class and background will have an indelible effect on the kids for the rest of their lives; the upper-class boys and girls seem confident to the point of boorishness, while the middle- and working-class children seem resigned to a life of hard work or inevitable failure due to their backgrounds.

Fascinated by the footage, Almond's assistant, Michael Apted (later the director of The World Is Not Enough, among others, and president of the Directors' Guild), proposed to revisit the subjects every seven years, and in 1970, 7 Plus Seven was released, followed by 21 Up in '77, 28 Up in '84, 35 Up in '91, and the most recent entry, 42 Up, in '99 (Apted plans to continue the project). And the changes that occur to the original 14 (some of whom drop out of the project) are among the most fascinating and often tragic ever recorded on film. Success, failure, marriage and childbirth, poverty, illness--almost every possible element of the human experience passes before Apted's camera. And while each of the children's stories is riveting, the viewer will undoubtedly be gripped by that of Neil, a shy boy who endures incredible hardships. A one-of-a-kind series and sociological experiment, The Up Series is required viewing for not only documentary fans but any viewer with a curiosity about and concern for their fellow humans. The DVD set includes commentary by Apted on 42 Up. --Paul Gaita
Description
Starting in 1964 with Seven Up, renowned director Michael Apted has explored this Jesuit maxim. The original concept was to interview 14 children from diverse backgrounds from all over England, asking them about their lives and their dreams for the future. Every seven years, Apted has been back to talk to the same subjects, examining the progression of their lives. From cab driver Tony to East End schoolmates Jackie, Lynn, and Susan and the heart-breaking Neil, we see, as they enter their 40's, how close these subjects are to realizing their ambitions. An extraordinary look at the structure of life in the 20th century, The Up Series is, according to Roger Ebert, "an inspired, almost noble use of the film medium. Apted penetrates to the central mystery of life."

Sometimes grace and hope come in surprising packages. The title character of Hedwig and the Angry Inch, a would-be glam-rock star from East Germany, undergoes a botched gender-change operation in order to escape from the Soviet bloc, only to watch the Berlin Wall come down on TV after being abandoned in a trailer park in middle America. Hedwig gets involved with Tommy, an adolescent boy who steals her songs and becomes a stadium-filling musical act. Suffering from a broken heart and a lust for revenge, Hedwig follows Tommy's tour, playing with her band (the Angry Inch) at tacky theme restaurants. Into this simple storyline, writer-director-star John Cameron Mitchell packs an astonishing mix of sadness, yearning, humor, and kick-ass songs with a little Platonic philosophy tucked inside for good measure. A visually dazzling gem of a movie. --Bret Fetzer

5 out of 5 stars I Love Hedwig.......2007-06-27

Having seen this film in the theatre twice, I don't know what took me so long to buy the DVD - I enjoy it every time I watch it! It has great heart and empathy and the music is fantastic! John Cameron Mitchell is enchanting as well as the whole cast. It is absurd, outrageous and yes, lovingly done. I especially liked Michael Pitt - he is one of my favorite actors - puts his whole being into every character he portrays.

5 out of 5 stars Compelling Music that moves you!.......2007-05-07

a great movie , if you enjoy a good musical DEFINATELY take a second look at this film!

5 out of 5 stars weirdWildness.......2007-04-11

My daughters bought this film and both enjoyed it for its weirdwildness. I can't say that I did, but it's a generational thing I guess. They especially liked the music, but again I can't say that I did although I'm a musician myself. Clearly inventive movie making and excellent musicians doing exactly what they want to do, but... I guess it's a generational thing. I don't particularly like Andy Warhol's flicks, or Broadway musicals, or Wagnerian opera, or John Coltrane, Philip Glass, or Modest Mouse indy music either. What's an old classical guitarist to do when the Bach D-minor partita is pulled off the music stand and the cross-dressers appear? The topics are not quite my style, although emotionality is the same across the entire human race. Inventive, wild, weird, very well done, but not my style.

4 out of 5 stars An Inch Just Ain't Enough.......2007-03-30

Hedwig Robinson (John Cameron Mitchell) is a rocker. And she's got The Angry Inch beside her (and in her pants). As a young man, Hansel/Hedwig lived in East Berlin, right before The Wall came tumbling down. His sexual identity was always in question and when a cute, black, American soldier gives him a way out of the Eastern Bloc, Hedwig jumps on him (literally and figuratively). But he can't get to the other side of The Wall as a man, so an operation takes place to remove his vital functions below the waist ...if you get my meaning. Needless to say (if you pay attention to the title of the film), the surgery gets botched and leaves Hedwig with his "Angry Inch."

The anger is twofold. First is the failed operation; second is Hedwig's fury over stolen musical material by someone named Tommy Gnosis (Michael Pitt). Tommy is a rock-n-roll sensation, but it's all because of what Hedwig taught him in his early days. So Hedwig, in true b!tchy fashion, follows Tommy's rock tour around the world. But instead of playing in theaters and high end places, Hedwig and his Angry Inch band play at lowbrow restaurants, often to the dismay of its patrons who've simply come in to eat.

Hedwig's decline into obscurity is well played by director/actor John Cameron Mitchell. The musical soundtrack is very well done and the catchy tunes will have most movie watchers tapping their toes along to the rockin' beats. That he also remains angry at some of his band members is quite funny, actually holding them hostage by keeping their passports hidden away.

Revenge is the meal of the day as Hedwig finally meets up with Tommy again, eventually leading to Tommy's career demise and launching Hedwig into the spotlight. But is this what Hedwig really wanted? Not realizing the sacrifices she'd have to make, Hedwig decides to re-open her/his closet and show the world his/her true identity. He also sets free one of his band members who turns out to be a woman masquerading as a man, too.

Those willing to watch a film without sitting in judgement of the material will most likely eat this story up. It's quite funny, well acted, and has a rippingly good soundtrack. But if you're a staunch conservative or -- god forbid -- homophobic, you might want to pass on this one.

5 out of 5 stars Mind-Altering Viewpoint.......2007-03-24

First time I watched this movie I was kinda confused, but felt like I'd just been run over by a truck. Still, I came back a second time, and a third, and a fourth...
And each time it amazes me. The meaning behind this movie and the idea of what makes someone happy might not end up completing them in the long run. *sigh* How many people can this touch before it becomes a cult classic?
Oh wait, It already is! :)

Killin' Them Softly is easily one of HBO's best comedy specials, catching star Dave Chappelle at a career high in 2000 and with an abundance of hysterical, highly polished material. Taking his time, stretching concepts and bits like a master, Chappelle plunges into a wealth of anecdotes and observations about the influx of white people into Washington, D.C. (where this show was recorded) since the 1980s. ("Who are the scariest people? White guys in black gangs. No telling what they did to get respect.") There are fantastic tales of racing cops with Chappelle's white friend, Chip, and a great story about being left alone in a limousine outside a busy crack house. Other good stuff: introducing a kid to a PePe Le Pew cartoon and realizing too late the skunk is a sex criminal, and why we should know our 911 calls will end up played on television. --Tom Keogh

DAVE CHAPPELLE TRULY IS ONE OF THE BEST COMEDIANS. THIS STAND-UP COMEDY DVD IS HILARIOUS. BUT NOW DON'T MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE I DID. THERE IS ANOTHER DVD THAT'S THE SAME SHOW BUT IN A DIFFERENT NAME "FOR WHAT IT'S WORTH". SO DON'T BUY BOTH CUZ IT'S THE SAME EXACT SHOW. I HAD "FOR WHAT IT'S WORTH" AND THEN I BROUGHT THIS ONE NOT KNOWING IT WAS THE SAME. BUT THIS IS DEFINITELY ONE U GOTTA SEE. U WILL LAUGH YOUR HEART OUT

Dave Chappelle is funny...this one has got to be one of his best stand-ups.

5 out of 5 stars This is Dave Chapelles' Best Work!.......2007-02-07

This DVD is so Hilarious. If you have seen his TV show....you havn't seen anything! His standup is so much better than his TV show. If you want to laugh and laugh, buy this. It is my favorite! My family has watched it over 10 times!

5 out of 5 stars One of the single best stand-up specials ever.......2006-10-09

Dave Chappelle's Killin' Them Softly ranks up there with the best. What really differentiates Chappelle from other comedians, something I don't often see mentioned in his evaluations, is his nack for subtle humor. Although his material is outrageous in concept, his delivery is what makes it so brilliant. He throws in little words here and there, facial expressions, and masterfully realized impressions that are all made with such a laid-back delivery. It's subtle. He captures emotions. Seriously, it's not hype... the man is a brilliant comedian. Even if you're not a fan of Chappelle's Show, you'll love this special.

5 out of 5 stars Can't go wrong with Chappelle.......2006-07-19

With the rising success of Dave Chappelle came -Killin' Them Softly-, one of the funniest and popular stand up specials to date. Almost everything he talks about in this will keep you laughing. It may be the typical things an African-American comedian might talk about, but it is down right hilarious the way Dave presents it.

My favorites would be:

- Taped 9-1-1 call - "Help! Help Mutha F**ka They Comin' Ta Get Me!"
- Ditched in the Ghetto - "Hey Baby! Baby go home... what the F**k are you doin' up!"
- Discovering old shows - "B***H I LIVE IN A F**KING TRASH CAN"
- Clinton/Bush/First Black presidency (By far the best one)
- Chivalry

55 minutes of sheer hysteria in one stand up by one man. Of course getting the DVD would be good, but I would actually recommend downloading it because of quick access to it. With a DVD you have to put it in the computer or DVD player and wait to then play it, but when you have it already on your computer you can just run it with a media player. Nonetheless, the point is to see this if you haven't.

5 out of 5 stars For anyone who gets sentimental thinking about the past.......2007-06-16

I first saw a few of these films back when I came out of school and was going into work and was wondering what to do with my life and what I would become, this was very insightful. A large dvd set like this may seem way too long at first but when you think about what's in it, 42yrs of 14 people's entire lives, it's quite short.

All the characters you meet or have been in life are here. The ambitious John, the mentally ill Neil, charitable Bruce, disgruntled Jackie, simple values of Tony, Nick the intellectual, ... Too bad some of them decided to drop out, but they must be like movie stars without the moneys every 7 years.

The camera quality/technology states the era and atmosphere of each film. When I first watched these films I wondered if it was real, but the camera quality proved it was.

However, the films were started before reality tv, they were originally about class and values of different classes. People who like reality tv maybe disappointed, they mostly ask about people's values what they're up to in life and how they feel comes second.

5 out of 5 stars Probably the best documentary I've watched.......2007-05-15

I thoroughly enjoyed the 7up series. I started at 7up and watched about one disc every 1-2 weeks until I recently finished 42up. I have been increasingly fascinated as I have worked my way through the series. There is something about watching another person's life, that has been fascinating for me. Especially at a moment where I myself am constantly thinking about where I want to be and where I want to go. Very thought provoking. At the end, you will feel like you have something invested in the future of these people.

I particularly found the changes from 21 to 28 to be the most pivotal and defining. This seems to be the point where most of them really branched out into adulthood. For those people that haven't seen the 7-21 series, they are definitely worth watching. There is a lot of editing as the series progresses. Watching the earlier shows in their entirety allows the viewer to be more involved in the life of the individuals and understand their background better.

All in all...Great series. Groundbreaking, interesting, and thought provoking. Highly recommended.

5 out of 5 stars Endlessly Fascinating.......2007-03-25

If one watches these films in a short period of a couple days, there is perhaps too much repeated footage. It also takes a while -- for me Seven Up and much of 7 Plus Seven -- to sort out all the 14 subjects. But beyond those two minor points, The Up Series is terrific. Watching how each subject responds to the intrusive camera, how they change, and, on the other hand and even more strikingly, how the child at 7 really does, as the narrator intones in Seven UP, foreshadow the man is an experience not soon, or ever, forgotten. This work is nothing less than a history of the late 20th century as lived by 14 individuals. It is also remarkable as an ongoing commentary on Britain in those years.

5 out of 5 stars Fascinating.......2007-03-17

Over the years I have seen these movies as they were released. In preparation for watching the latest 49 UP installment I decided to buy the box set and watch the movies together.
Firstly, I would like to thank the "uppers" for their honesty and effort in sharing the ups and downs of their lives with us all.
The documentary tracks the lives of 14 people, from a broad cross section of English society, every seven years. All of the participants seem honest and decent and for the most part are likeable. It is a little disconcerting to see the subjects aging - I mean it happens to us all but when watching the movies close together it is actually a little depressing.
The Documentary shows the subjects lives and I am sure that anyone watching can find some parallel with their own life. All in all it is excellent and just like real life takes you through a range of emotions as peoples lives are updated.
Over the years a couple of the "uppers" have dropped out which is very disappointing - I believe this documentary will still be looked upon hundreds of years from today and those in it are providing something of huge importance for future generations. To me at least this outweighs the loss the privacy of the subjects. This is especially true in the case of Charles who is a guy who actually makes his living from making documentaries! Still I suppose it is easy for me to criticise as I am not the person having a camera stuck in front of me every seven years.

5 out of 5 stars Thought provoking.......2007-03-14

The initial concept was facinating. What do 7 year olds think? And, if there's a follow up, how did they change? But as I continued to watch the ongoing series I became more thoughtful than facinated. Had the cameras invaded my own life how would I respond? Defensive? Apologetic? Would my life's decisions change knowing that those cameras would return for yet another accounting? It made me wonder, too, at the price of celebrity and why anyone would aspire to such a thing. Social interest started the series - introspection kept me rivited to the end.

I have only seen excerpts of Earthquake in the past, never a full routine. I have to say I was on the floor crying with laughter. Many times I had to stop the DVD and rewind it, missing parts because of my laughing so hard.

5 out of 5 stars Funniest Man on the Planet (EARTHQUAKE!!!).......2007-06-06

This DVD was unbelievable. Earthquake is the funniest comedian out there. There is not a moment in this DVD when he slacks off. He just continues to get better and better with time, and he deserves more than he's been given. He's been featured on Everybody Hates Chris, and he does a good job on the show too. Pick this DVD up, and see why he is the best black male comedian out there. He's too good for his own good. See why!

3 out of 5 stars Funny because of vulgarity, not ingenious.......2007-01-08

If you have nothing else to do, and have not seen the work of other african american comedians, incl Chris Rock, or even older stalwarts likle Richard Pryor or even Murphys Raw.

Earthquake shook the stage with vulgarity and crude humor. I dont think he really applied much thought into the script sadly, so yes, its good if you are out of the options and you have some time to spare.

5 out of 5 stars A must have for comedy fans.......2006-04-09

Earthquake is not only the best urban comic out there right now, he might be the best comedian out there now. period. If you like stand up comedy, and aren't easily insulted (Earthquake isn't politically correct, but what good comic is?), this is a must have DVD.

The DVD extras include a film of Earthquake before the show as well as trailers for other platinum comedy series DVDs. The extras leave alot to be desired.

All in all, Earthquake's performance is a masterpiece, and this DVD is well worth purchasing.

Release Date: 2005-11-22

Description

Sheryl Underwood is a brilliant comedian and one of the funniest, topical stand-up comics working today. Sheryl is no stranger to television, film or radio having appeared on Def Comedy Jam, I Got The Hook Up, Beauty Shop and Bulworth. Her intense comedy stems from her diverse background including college life, dating, a stint in the Armed Forces and being regarded as a leading radio show host. As a testament to her talent, Sheryl has been named the 2005-06 host of BET's top-rated show, Comic View. Sheryl Underwood brings to the stage a heavy dose of adult comedy. Her "in your face" brand of comedic flair consists of brutal honesty and side-splitting observations of life.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Hilarious.......2007-06-27

At first glance, you think Sheryl Underwood is just another crazy comic, but you quickly realize she is extremely witty and tuned into the political landscape. I thoroughly enjoyed the laughs and her provocative insight.

5 out of 5 stars On Point!!!!.......2006-08-29

This was definately right on. I took me by surprise because I wasnt all that impressed with her stand up on Master P's "I Got the Hook Up" comedy DVD. I really bought this DVD out of boredom but was totally blown away by her stand up performance. Raw and straight up holding no punches. I was laughing so hard my stomach hurt. Definately a good buy!!!

4 out of 5 stars Great Show, but lacking.......2005-11-29

I'm one of Sheryl's biggest fans. We're both from the same town and I usually love her shows. But, this show disappointed me. I expected alot more from Sheryl. Sheryl definitely brings the funny in this one, but it's not one of her best performances.

This DVD is a great holiday gift.

5 out of 5 stars Mo'Nique For President!!.......2006-06-23

This is one of the funniest dvds I have ever watched. I had tears running down my face! Mo'nique had already killed my with the Queens of Comedy (which i had ordered like a month before i ordered this one) and so i had to order this one as well. She covers such hilarious subjects as her divorces, thinking her youngest child has gone crazy, trying not to [...] her pants on a date, her coochie and many other things. I thoroughly recommend this and Queens of Comedy if you want a good laugh. I've watched both like 10 times and still havnt gotten sick of them. [...]

4 out of 5 stars Funny ghetto- fabulous !.......2006-04-07

I never knew she used so much profanity, yet I was not turned off, it gave me a new perspective on this fine fabulous lady !

1 out of 5 stars A Big Disappointment.......2006-01-27

I'm a big fan of Mo'nique. So I could'nt wait to watch this dvd.Yet I have to say I was alittle disappionted. The cursing was to much it spoiled the humor.I could'nt focus on Mo'nique and what she was saying.Plus the jokes were dull and boring.I think I'll stick to the Parkers,Not worth the money.

3 out of 5 stars Her Timing Was Somewhat Off.......2004-10-20

Hey, I love me some Mo'Nique but...this concert was
not really that funny. She spent too much time talking
about her divorce. I think she could have diversified
her subject matter a little bit more. She was much more
funny in her segment for Queens Of Comedy. I really believe
there's so much more to her we haven't discovered yet...so
stay tuned.

4 out of 5 stars Mo'Nique One Night Stand Is Worth Watching.......2004-09-27

We had big expectations for Mo'Nique One Night Stand as we feel she is one of the best, if not the best woman comdedians of our time. Mo'Nigue did not dissappoint. You should definitely put the kids to sleep before popping in this dvd, as she is very obscene and curses alot, although its funny its NOT for kids. She is alot funnier on this special then she is on the "The Parkers". Thats because the doesn't have to watch her mouth, and she can say whatever she wants without having to worry about it being bleeped out and she takes full advantage of that privilege. While on stage she gives it her all as you can tell by the sweat pouring off of her face. Several times during the show she got help from audience members in wiping the sweat off. She loves to make fun of skinny girls and even big girls for that matter. She jokes about everything from her divorce and kids to skinny girls and the rugrats. This dvd would of gotten 5 stars if it wasn't for the fact that she stayed to long on talking about her ex husband and kids to long. That got a little tiring. The dvd also would been better if there where some extra features. It would of been funny to see her behind the scenes. In the end it is recommended that you rent this dvd as it is worth seeing at least once. Mo'Nigue is quickly becoming one of the funniest comedians around. If you want to get more laughs from her check her out in the movie Soul Plane.

5 out of 5 stars I Laughed the entire time!!.......2006-08-09

This was Steve Harvey at his finest. He touched on topics from Church, to the difference between the races, Tiger Woods, and family issues. He even gave a diagram of how to make one whole good man. I couldn't stop laughing. This movie is well worth buying and having in your collection, you will want to watch it any of those days when you need a good laugh.

3 out of 5 stars Entertaining.......2005-12-03

The One Man show was entertainng throughout, but it did not make me roll around with laughter. Steve Harvey is a funny man and can be quite theatrical at times. He repeated a lot of the jokes he had done on Def Jam, although he did change them a bit. His Def Jam performances were more convincing.
On the whole I would rate this above average, but only just.

1 out of 5 stars Don't You Just Hate This Guy?.......2005-05-27

His face? His hair? His smile? On top of that, he isn't even funny. I can't stand this Steve Harvey guy. Don't know how he ever got a show... oh yea, it was on UPN.

5 out of 5 stars I laughed so hard I passed out.......2004-08-25

You got to see it. It is so funny.

4 out of 5 stars Likeable.......2004-05-07

Steve is very down home and you feel relaxed just watching him. The jokes are funny without being crude.

Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Great Show, But we need a Season 2 set.......2005-05-18

I'm 21 and I still love this show. I think it is a lot more intellegent than a lot of other shows geared towards teens these days. The reviewer who made the comment about the blonde girl always getting the cute guy, obviously they haven't even watched the series. Lizzie's central theme is about friendship and family, NOT about getting the guy. In fact, Lizzie never "gets the guy", so to speak. And the main male character in the show isn't the "cute" one. He's the nerdy, smart one. Lizzie is also not the popular girl, her and her friends get a lot of grief from the popular crowd, and this show has much better character development and depth to it than any other Disney "teen" series I have seen.

5 out of 5 stars Lizzie Mcguire is fine!.......2004-05-22

I just want to say that some people think that Lizzie Mcguire isn't for people under thirteen, and that's not true! It is mostly for those pre-teen girls. It's not really for guys, or girls under the age of ten, but not because there's something bad about it, it's just that there's this episode about Lizzie getting a bra, and about five or six episodes where she has a crush on somebody. I don't recommend it for boys of any age though.

5 out of 5 stars lizzie mcguire on family channel.......2004-02-14

i tape lizzie mcguire for my tv show collection and i own the movie the lizzie mcgure show makes me laugh and when i watched clover and daisy when they were on i laughed and i add mixed feeling listerening to clover-daisy i also own hilary duff"s cds disney get off your butts and sign hilary duff and bring back lizzie mcguire the high school version.ed

4 out of 5 stars Not what it could have been--but far better than nothing........2004-01-12

I suppose one should start out with the 'bad' here.

Cons:

1. Merely adequate visual and audio. While certainly serviceable, the overall quality of the presentation isn't what one has come to expect from the DVD format.

2. No continuity of episodes. It's bad enough that the episodes are being parceled out like this, but it's as though the episodes chosen were purely at random. The episodes have nothing to do with one another. They're not even from the same season!

3. Severe editing. The credits for each episode have been expunged here. All one gets is one credit crawl at the very end of all the episodes only covering one of the episodes shown! Very poor choice there (and one would think it would violate SAG bylaws...). Also, one doesn't get to view the opening credits before each episode; it too is only shown once for all four.

The only 'extra' consists of a new music video featuring Hilary Duff's first single, "I Can't Wait".

Pros:

It's "Lizzie McGuire" on DVD! :-)

At the end of the day, one gets the feeling that Disney rushed this project in order to cash in on the current "Lizzie-Mania" that has swept the land. But they've had so much time to get all their ducks in a row, one should (and does) expect better from the product. Disney knows that the fans will eat up anything "Lizzie" related right now--sub par or not.

However, barring an expanded version at some point, this is all we've got, and as such is worth buying. A flawed "Lizzie" DVD is better than no "Lizzie" DVD.

1 out of 5 stars HILLARY IS "SO YESTERDAY"!.......2004-01-04

save your self money and your child's sanity! don't buy this DVD! as a teenager myself i strongly oppose of hillary duff/lizzie mcguire. her shows are very perdicatible! her parents are very liberal. how does lizze and ethan always get together as friends? they hardly ever talk to each other. isn't there one tv show on earth where the guy is cute and smart. and the main lead is NOT a blond. u gotta be blond and blue eyed to get a guy and that is exactly what hillary does. don't buy hillary duff products. it is a waste of money!!!

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Bruce Bruce.......2007-03-13

Bruce Bruce, not fat Bruce, not Big Bruce, not Big Boy, not Fat Boy, thats Bruce Bruce. Bruce Bruce is one of the funniest men in America. This Platinum Comedy Series dvd comes along with a cd version of the "concert". It is definitely worth the money. Great buy, and wonderful comedian.

5 out of 5 stars He's funny on comic view but he's hilarious in stand up.......2006-01-19

Bruce Bruce went to work when he was working on this stand up. You hear some of the same stuff you hear in other stand up's but nobody can compare to his unique delivery. Bruce also speaks on some subjects dealing with his family and this is stuff that the old school can really relate to but the younger crowd can't do anything but crack up at it. The jokes he told I couldn't really tell on Amazon.com but trust me you haven't heard this before. If you want to see some original stand up comedy then get this. What he does on comic view doesn't even compare to what's on this DVD. Maybe this will help, Bruce's platinum series is almost as good as Chappelles platinum Killin Them Softly.

Customer Reviews:

2 out of 5 stars Swing and a miss.......2007-04-27

For being produced in "95, this just feels so out of touch. It makes it very hard to watch today because he talks about Mike Tyson and Rodney King. I doubt I would have laughed much even when it came out, but it's just too out-dated to bring many laughs. Good comedians are timeless and remain funny 30 years later. I expected it to be far more entertaining judging by him being inside the prison, but the inmates don't even really seem amused. It's just forced and not very funny. Sometimes you find yourself being embarrassed for Rodriguez when his jokes fall flat. He's just an amateur, no wonder I haven't seen him since 1995.
