Rescue Heroes: The Movie is easily the brawny team's most exciting and entertaining animated story to date. Talk about a bad day at the office: When a volcano in Ecuador spouts an unknown element into the atmosphere, a series of mysterious lightning storms create worldwide havoc, from avalanches in Switzerland to bursting dams in Thailand to fires in American forests. The Rescue Heroes scamper over the globe saving lives, but nothing, it seems, can avert a planetary cataclysm once these storms merge in the atmosphere. Complicating matters is an unknown illness striking team leader Billy Blazes, and a bad case of arrogance and insubordination that grounds Rocky Canyon at a critical time. Rescue Heroes: The Movie is far and away more visually pleasing and dramatic than episodes from the Heroes' television show. CGI animation allows more creative angles, movement, and changing backgrounds--very handy for a story spread over much of the Earth. --Tom Keogh
Customer Reviews:
Little boys love Rescue Heroes!.......2007-07-04
This DVD was purchased as a gift for my little boy. He had seen the Rescue Heroes cartoon on TV and loved it, so I thought he might like this full length movie. He loves it and will watch it time and again if we let him! I would recommend this movie, it can be pretty far fetched, but at least it has positive characters and teamwork themes.
Excellence in Cross Selling.......2007-05-21
I just watched this film for the first time today. Yes, it was made entirely to promote a line of toys. It's an excellent example of Mercatilism at its best. Aesthetically, it would not exist except to sell a line of toys.
However, it was well-written and well executed. I was not at all embarassed to watch this with my primary school age niece and nephew. If I had any complaint, oddly enough, it was not about scripting or dialogue or voicing.
The special effects are not very good.
How odd - this movie is all about catastrophic occurrences and hair-raising disasters. And yet the animation sequences showing these disasters are not what they could or should be, much to my surprise.
If they'd invested more in these, they probably could have sold more toys.
Good service.......2007-05-07
My son loves this movie. Thanks for the quick processing of this, we received it well before the estimated arrival date.
My Son Loves This.......2007-03-09
My 6-year-old son loves this show. He has watched it many times. My 8-year-old son also likes it.
Rescue Heros movie is GREAT!.......2007-01-18
My son loved his movie when he was in the stage for Rescue Heroes. My nephew borrowed the movie and also loved it. I ended up buying my nephew the movie and he was thrilled!

Somebody in Hollywood thought there was some fish-out-of-water potential in this teaming of wild man Woody Harrelson and slow-burning Kiefer Sutherland as a pair of New Mexico cowboys who go to New York to tame the wild, wild, uh ... East. Well, they were mistaken, because this 1994 action-comedy is little more than a tiresome reworking of Crocodile Dundee. Woody and Kiefer head for the Big Apple to rescue the illegal-immigrant daughter of one of their rodeo buddies (who has mysteriously disappeared), and what they discover is a sweatshop operation run by a hot-tempered thug (Dylan McDermott, before his role on TV's The Practice). That's when the boys start using their ropin' and shootin' skills to foil the bad guys. One measure of this film's credibility is the inevitable scene of the boys riding on horseback through the gridlocked streets of Manhattan. Uh huh. You know how it goes... you just have to go with it or marvel at the sheer stupidity of it all. Of course, forget all the sniping if you're a fan of Harrelson or Sutherland--they're both doing their best under the burden of disadvantage. --Jeff Shannon
Customer Reviews:
Not all that bad, actually..........2007-05-01
Professional reviewers have savaged this movie, but I think their attitude is a bit harsh.
Yes, the plot has been done before. Yes, the humor is a bit forced in spots. Yes, there is a cringe-worthy torture scene involving a calf. Yes, the villain is a one-dimensional cardboard character.
But, the world will never tire of "buddy" movies, or fish-out-of-water plots. Screwball redneck humor isn't going anywhere either. And if we must have a one-dimensional villain, at least he's dreamy Dylan McDermott.
"The Cowboy Way" won't win any Oscars, but it doesn't aspire to; it was meant as light entertainment, and it *is* surprisingly entertaining.
Woody Harrelson is "Pepper", the comic half of the duo, and he has a certain brash charm which actually is amusing to watch. Kiefer Sutherland plays "Sonny", the deadpan half of the pair, and his serious nature is an effective foil to Harrelson's excesses. Their characters are believable, even if the plot strains credibility at times. Sutherland has a memorable moment during a scene that takes place in a morgue after the death of a minor character; the simple grace and dignity of his farewell gesture reveal he has inherited at least some of the great subtlety and power of his father, the magnificent actor Donald Sutherland.
Their adventures in New York, searching for a lost friend and attempting to rescue a kidnapped daughter from slavery, take a few detours along the way. The pair quarrel, seperate, and Pepper meets some interesting New Yorkers while Sonny gets in serious trouble, but they reunite just in time to kick some bad guy butt with the help of some of New York's finest.
The bad guy is dispensed with in a rather creative, if cruel fashion, romance blossoms between Sonny and the female lead and they all drive off into the sunset in their pickup truck.
I'm neither a big fan of things cowboy, nor particularly of any of the actors involved, and from the reviews I was not expecting much of this movie, but it was worth a few chuckles. I can think of worse ways of spending an afternoon than watching this. I gave it four stars partly to make up for the harsh reviews it has gotten from others though I think it really deserves three. If you are sick of overhyped, straining-for-Oscar movies and want a mildly enjoyable, unpretentious bit of entertainment, this little sleeper may be perfect for you.
great comedy.......2006-08-12
its very funny, a great comedy with a decent story line.... if you like cowboy humor this is a great video to check out!
Good son, bad son........2006-08-04
Not the greatest rodeo movie ever made but by no means the worst.
Tends to drag on a little but overall is worth the effort. Some of the casting is strange mainly because there is no chemistry between the characters, but the storyline is above average and Keifer Sutherland does enough to carry the rest over the line.
Crime Solving Cowboys In the Big City...What A Concept!.......2006-06-12
I guess it's still true (to some degree anyway) that being a MOVIE STAR has more, uh, cachet to it than being a TV actor. But sometimes you have to wonder why. Watching this mediocre-at-best 1994 effort featuring former TV star Woody Harrelson, future TV leads Kiefer Sutherland and Dylan McDermott, you just might wonder why that's the case. These actors can all be justifiably proud of their work on (respectively) CHEERS, 24, and THE PRACTICE. I can't imagine that they bring up this film much in conversation as being one of the highlights of their careers.
Which is not to say that they don't all give it their best shot. As our cowboys-loosed-in-the-Big-Apple heroes, Sutherland and Harrelson are affable enough. And it's interesting to see McDermott take on a menacing villain's role. But otherwise, this movie is pretty predictable "fish out of water" fare. And speaking of TV shows, didn't Dennis Weaver pretty much mine all the possibilities of out of that particular plotline decades ago on McCLOUD?
Of course, McCloud never resorted to such grotesqueries as we witness in the "hungry calf" scene. Even in the new millennium, television seldom stoops quite THAT low. The filmmakers must have been getting a little desperate at that point. I believe this is what's known as "jumping the shark." Or some variation on that phrase involving a "calf." One shudders to think.
Can I give it 6 Stars?.......2005-04-16
The film brings to the screen the story of two cowboys out of New Mexico who come to NY looking for their friend who's gone missing while searching for his daughter.
It is a highly entertaining, action-packed adventure with significant elements of comedy. To a certain extent it brings to mind Next of Kin starring Patrick Swayze.
Woody Harrelson, Kiefer Sutherland, and the rest of the cast have truly outdone themselves with their performances, which are exceptional to say the least. All the actors, without exceptions, give it their 100% and it really shows (the chemistry is AMAZING)!
The plot, the setting, the dialogues, and the music, are all WONDERFUL!
The Cowboy Way is a movie definitely worth watching, and one to seriously consider adding to your movie collection!

Like the Naudet brothers' 9/11, Twin Towers began as a documentary about New York City's public safety workers and became a relevant record of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. Law and Order producer Dick Wolf was looking for a new reality show and found a perfect, exciting group to film: NYPD Emergency Services Squad 3. This elite force is on call for a variety of extreme situations--armed sieges, rescues on ice, climbing massive bridges to help potential jumpers--making it a natural for Wolf's type of TV show. The program never aired, but the footage shot is the backbone for this Oscar-winning documentary short. The squad--who always wants to be first to the scene--took a heavy blow when the twin towers collapsed: 14 men died, including Joseph Vigiano, a talented officer who had roots in public service (his dad and brother were firefighters). In a brief 33 minutes, we hear from father John Sr. and the men of squad C about the brothers, the job, and that fateful September day. The film doesn't have the verisimilitude of 9/11 nor is it a dynamic film; it feels more like an excellently produced segment of a TV news magazine. Yet this tribute is unquestionably moving, effective, and a testament to everyday heroes. --Doug Thomas
Customer Reviews:
A very touching portrayal of Joseph Vigiano, NYPD EMS.......2007-01-06
This is outstanding footage on Joseph Vigiano, who was a highly decorated member of the NYPD Emergency Services. I did not truly understand the extreme peril that an EMS officer faces on a daily basis and am grateful to know more details of what they do and sacrifice for those they help. I was also touched by the interview with Joseph's father who was a NYC fire fighter. His words of guidance that he said to his sons to never leave the house without giving your family a hug and telling them you love them (no matter if you've had a disagreement or not) is wonderful advice for us all. I do wish there had been an interview with Joseph's wife for more of a personal touch about Joseph. Joseph's brother John Vigliano, Jr., who was a fireman, also died in the World Trade Center. I really wish there was something on him of substance since the title of this is "Twin Towers" and not just "Tower". The jacket of the DVD states that this is "The true story of two brothers whose courage will never be forgotten" so I was quite surprised to not see as much on John, Jr. as there was on Joseph. I realize the story started about Joseph and his EMS unit but John died too and there should be more about him and his last moments as they are known by witnesses. This documentary ends abruptly, just as Joseph and John's lives did, but I felt that it still needed an epilogue to tie things up. I'm not sure that I ever saw John, Jr. in life in the footage, and if he is there and one of the one's hugging Joseph at the awards ceremony (as I suspect) I wish they would have put his name as a subtitle under him so that those watching would know. It touched me so much to see Joseph with his boys and reminds us that so many who lost their lives on 9/11 were young parents. All in all this is a wonderful documentary but I only gave it four stars due to the lack of information on John, Jr. It is extremely well done and definitely worth the money and time to watch it over and over again.
Brief but a great memorial.......2006-02-17
This 35 minute documentary really illustrates the quality and heroism of the people that died on September 11, 2001 in New York.
This film is a brief tribute to a few of them. Particularly the Vigiano family that lost two sons (a firefighter and a police officer)in the World Trade Centers. These men and those like them were heroes and civic role models.
No greater love has a person than to lay down ones life for a friend.
After watching this film, I am moved to say thank you to every police officer, firefighter and first response person. I was saddened by the tragedy but also extremely encouraged to get a glimpse at the quality of goodness in the people that helped save so many lives that day.
Twin Towers, an example of true service to the community........2005-09-16
Twin Towers shows the true commitment of a small portion of the NYPD to the safety of people living in and visiting New York City. While the Vigiano family lost two sons, there were 13 other ESU officers killed on 9/11 and two others from the same squad; Officer John D'Allara, a former teacher and 17 year ESU veteran and Sgt Mike Curtin who was a former Marine Sgt. Major who fought in Desert Storm and was a rescuer at the first Trade Center Bombing and also did rescue and recovery work at the Oklahoma City Bombing.
While they are not mentioned in the Twin Towers, we should remember the other ESU officers lost on 9/11: Sgt. John Coughlin, Sgt. Rodney Gillis, PO Brian McDonnell, PO Vincent Danz, PO Jerome Dominguez, PO Walter Weaver, PO Stephen Driscoll, PO Santos Valentin, PO Ronald Kloepfer, PO Thomas Langone and PO Paul Talty.
Stirring Documentary of NYPD and America's Saddest Day.......2004-10-08
"The Twin Towers" started out as a documentary about the New York City Police Department's Emergency Services Team (EST), the elite group of police officers that deal with everything from suicidal people determined to jump off bridges to hostage situations. The story of these heroic young men so intrigued television producer Dick Wolf (best known for the "Law & Order" series) that he began this documentary as a means of selling a network on committing to a series based on the day-to-day lives of these men and their fascinating job. It's entirely conceivable that such a show would have come to fruition, had not the events at the World Trade Center taken place.
As noted by the editorial review, this documentary feels abruptly cut short: after all, the main subject of the piece, DET Joseph V. Vigiano, died in the September 11th attacks. What began as a look at the lives and work of the EST becomes a memorial to what we lost that day in the form of a father who lost his two sons (Det. Joseph Viggiano and his brother John, a NYC fireman) in the attacks.
It is the incompleteness of this documentary, and the profound sense of unfulfilled curiosity about the men it profiles, that leads me to grant the story four stars instead of five. In no way is it an idictment of its ability to stir and inspire.

FAMILY SHOULD ENJOY THS ONE.......2006-08-03
A+ for the film's strong family message: the grandparents are wonderfully charming; the brother and sister get along; the kids even say prayers before going to sleep. This along with the cute talking animals should keep the family entertained. The worst part is the horrible overacting of Charles Fleischer and Laraine Newman as the villainous Bert snd Bertha Bimini; they're so over the top they're ultimately annoying. Good old Hal Holbrook and Rue McClanahan are pleasant to spend a few minutes with. The talking effects are crude but oftentimes quite humorous and hang on at the end for an animal danced version of that golden chestnut DISCO DUCK!

My 3 year old loves this movie so much he asks for "Rusty" every day. My family thinks it's funny that every time the TV is on, "Rusty" is on - We know the movie by heart now.
Entertaining and A Great Message, Good Triumphs over Evil !.......2003-01-27
I have found Rusty to be wonderfully entertaining, sweet
and charming. The way the animals appear to be really
talking is amazing. In a world full of nastiness it is
awsome to see a movie that is enjoyable and almost Aesop-like.
Our whole family LOVES Rusty!!

Customer Reviews:
My Hercules, what shiny pecs you have!.......2007-06-18
This movie is chronologically challenged. First off, it takes place in the Ice Age and stars the Son of Hercules,Maxus. Hercules himself, however, wasn't born until several thousand years later in Ancient Greece. How could his son appear in a movie that takes place thousands of years before he was born? The movie never answers that question and frankly, has bigger chronological fish to fry, namely, Reg Lewis' haircut. It's an old b-movie axiom, that while technology changes in these movies from that which we experience in the present, hairstyles will always remain constant to the time period in which the movie was made. In other words, the Son of Hercules sports and Elvis haircut, or what my mom would call a "Duck's @ss". And it works, for this type of film. It's just the type of anomally that makes these movies amusing. And Reg himself makes an intersting hero.He is a rather easy going avenger, and with that hair I kept expecting him to break out into a rambling, rockin' rockabilly tune all the time. He plays Maxus a little like you think Elvis would have, and if he would have pushed the Elvis bit a little harder, we'd have a bona fide classic on our hands. Mr. Lewis is sufficently beefy to make a convincing if low-key Hercules.
Basically there are two tribes in this part of the world, the good Sun tribe and the rotten Moon tribe.Maxus befriends the good tribe by saving their crown prince from a water dragon. He hurtles a spear about 200 yards and nails it right in the eye. He then waves and quickly departs, because he never knows where he'll be needed next. This leaves our prince Idar, to romance his harpy of a girl friend, a babe that looks a bit like Ann Margaret. I couldn't really make out her name, but I think it was Brian(?) Brian pesters Idar, who just wants to spear fish, until he marries her in a ceremony where she promises to raise his children and skin his catch.(Is that a euphemism?) Furthermore, if she fails to obey him, Idar can have her put to death. Both seem content with this arrangement. Ah the good old days. As soon as (And I mean this literally) they finish the vows, the evil Moon tribe attacks! There is some pretty good fighting and the bad guys make off with the good guy's women.
After this it's pretty by the numbers. The good guys find Maxus wandering around the woods and recruit him to their cause. There are some good fights, Maxus gets buried up to his neck in the earth and is then freed by an earthquake, and a few more papier mache monstrosities are ferociously dispatched by the hero. Somewhere along the way another hottie named Moa or Mona joins Maxus' team and of course the two eventually ride off together. And yes, Maxus has the shiniest pecs I've ever seen. They are shiny on mountaintops,in caves, even underwater. Not a bad Herc movie at all, and the theme song is kinda catchy and fun. I wonder if there's a way I can make a ring tone out of it.
Old effects.......2007-02-12
This was made with old special effects that weren't as good as the later ones. But for an old Hercules movie fan it might be a wanted item in your collection.
Mixed bag, good story-bad print........2005-10-05
The print that this DVD was taken from has some issues, mainly the lighting/tone colors bleed red. The Pictures are clear and sharp, no snowing, just a weird red hue. The beef-cake and patty-cake in this movie is very good. Lots of skin. Decent fighting scenes. Non-stop action. B grade monsters every once in a while. One of the monster scenes (very breif) shows a giant lizard that must have been lifted from another film as it is a real lizard and not the puppets used in the rest of the film. Does anyone know what film that scene was taken from? Reg Lewis (Mr. America & Mr. Universe) is very beefy. The scenes of the hoochie-coochie women dancing reminded me of Esther Williams in nightmare land. Lots of fodder for MST3000 here.
Two Tribes go to war. The mean tribe steals the good tribes women. Good tribe gets help from Reg Lewis who just happens to be the Son of Hercules.
This is a fun Sword & Sandel flick with weird red lighting.

No need for silly hostess/narorator.......2004-07-20
I bought this for my 3 year old son. He was not intersted in all the talking by "Laurie Dash". Too many jokes that aren't funny or related to the hero and not enough action to keep a young child interested. The "There goes a...firefighter/hero/police officer...series is much better. There is a host but also lots of action to keep a young childs attention.
the best thing to come out of 9-11.......2002-10-03
I bought this for my kids and we all learned what cops go through even without aq disaster...Lauree dash makes it so fun and exciting that we watch it over and over and over...we know all the lines...more fun than anything
