OK for a rewrite.......2006-03-19
Ok the american version is ment for kids and was totaly redone for kids in america. If your an older person who is a fan. You might want to eather pirate the japanese version or go to japan and buy them.
WARNING: Heavily editted.......2005-12-28
The orginal japanese version of Digimon was a very cool show.
unforutanately, when saban entertainment dubbed it in english, they decided they had to change ALL of the musical score, change all the characters names to make them american-like, and completely re-write the script to include extreamly lame diolog. the only things that are the same in the 2 versions is the animation and some sound effects.....OTHER THAN THAT ITS LIKE A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT SHOW
simply put, THE ENGLISH DUB SUCKS.
try and find the original japanese version. if u cant speak japanese, try to find a subtitled version (trust me, its better than this POS.).
COMPANIES LIKE SABAN, 4KIDS, DIC AND NELVANA SHOULD BE BANNED FROM LICENSING ANIME CAUSE THEY ALWAYS BUTCHURE IT!! enough said.
NOT a Pokemon rip off.......2005-12-15
Digimon has a deeper story line. Pokemon tends to be more nonthing-bad-can-ever-happen-to-the-hero making it boring and really stupid. Digimon is NONTHING like that! The characters actually have some human flaws (unlike pokemon characters) making them more real and more fun to watch. This is one of the best t.v. shows ever!
Best Digimon Season!.......2005-10-29
I used to watch digimon many years ago. It was an awesome show, and a decent merchindise to back it up. At my school, people would always claim that Digimon was a Pokemon Rip-off. Thats not true at all.
Digimon has a more deeper story line. There are several themes on conflict not only between the forces of good and bad, but internal conflicts. All the episodes were linked together and progressed smoothly (unlike Pokemon where they had the same plot every episode was similar).
If you are a fan of Digimon, but haven't seen Season 1 yet, I strongly reccomend you to buy this DVD. Season 1 is by far the greatest season of Digimon. It's very dramatic (for a cartoon) and action packed.
One of the Most underrated Animes.......2005-09-25
Many people often lable Digimon as a simple Pokemon clone when in fact it is much deeper. The characters (digi-destined) deal with real issues that normal adolescents face daily, all the while trying to save 2 worlds. This dvd introduces the series as it contains the first 7 episodes. I give this dvd 5 stars for the content alone (the quality of the dvd itself is superb). I guarantee once you put aside the "kiddie" fascade prejudice, you'll realize that this series is a jem.

Digimon Digital Monsters SEASON 1.......2006-10-08
Hi I was wondering if this item (DIGIMON DIGITAL MONSTERS SEASON 1) is currently unavailable, why is it here? Its not like theirs gonna be anymore of this Digimon DVD that contains the 1st 13 episodes (no offense) if this item is gonna be on amazon it should be ready to buy not having it online and it has the status of CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE if its not ever gonna be in anystores around the planet then take it off the list already! I just don't get it why is it even here when its not avaiable.
The Plot Sickens, as Piedmon Would Say.......2006-08-11
Because my earlier review of Season One of Digimon was so widely misunderstood, I've decided to edit this review. First off, this "Season One" collection of Digimon episodes is not the entire season. It is a single DVD that contains the first bunch of episodes of the season (the Devimon episodes). It also features a few of the Myotismon episodes. While the episodes with Myotismon weren't bad, I HATE the Devimon episodes. Devimon was a boring villain, and those episodes seemed to be aimed at very young children. If you ever saw the incredibly annoying episode called "Digibaby boom", you'll know what I'm talking about. When I saw stupid episodes like that, I felt more like I was watching an episode of the Teletubbies than an "action/adventure" cartoon. Since this set of Digimon episodes contains episodes that for the most part annoyed the hell out of me, I give this DVD one star.
Now that I've criticized the DVD, I will devote the rest of this review to discussing the entire first season of Digimon. I liked a lot of episodes from the first season, BUT THOSE EPISODES ARE NOT INCLUDED ON THIS DVD. If the episodes I actually liked were included, I'd give this DVD a higher rating. Season one would always have a major enemy (or group of enemies) for the Digidestined to defeat. The episodes with Etemon were alright, the episodes with Myotismon were good (with a few exceptions), and the episodes with the Dark Masters were AWESOME. But as I've already said, the episodes I enjoyed aren't on this DVD.
As many like to point out, Digimon was made BEFORE Pokemon. Pokemon is a `cute' show that little kids can enjoy, but Digimon is an odd combination of `cute' mixed with `ugly/brutish'. The cute aspects were the rookie digimon, and the digi-destined themselves, who were children. The ugly and brutish aspects were the mega digimon, the evil digimon (like Myotismon and Devimon) and some surprisingly graphic violence, which is aimed at older children. In my case, I LOVED the `ugly/brutish' aspects of the show and HATED the `cute' aspects of the show. That's right - I can't stand the Digidestined, and I was always rooting for the bad guys to win. This DVD contains episodes that largely fall in the `cute' category. Keep in mind, that Digimon was a rather mature show made in Japan that was aimed at teenagers. The geniuses at FOX KIDS dumbed the show down for its American audience, and decided to aim the show at young children. Something I disliked about this is that a lot of young children are exposed to some rather graphic violence (especially in the Digimon movie), but then again, kids today are exposed to graphic violence on a daily basis, so I shouldn't complain. And what follows is the rest of my unedited review, where I discussed what I liked/disliked about Season One of Digimon:
Not a single thing in this show is funny - every joke falls flat. But I did like a lot of the Dark Masters' lines, and a lot of Piedmon and Puppetmon's lines made me laugh with glee. The music in this show is HORRIBLE - some of it sounds like Fred Penner playing an electric guitar. And they play that godawful theme song about a million times in every episode. But they had some dramatic music that sounded really cool playing when Piedmon walks up the stairs of his castle and busts down the doors right before having a fight with Angemon. I especially like the way Piedmon will hold two swords by their hilts in each of his hands, then yell "TRUMP SWORDS!" and throw them like darts at his opponent. The sight of someone being impaled by one of his swords is most impressive.
I liked how all the Dark Masters team up to wipe out the Digi-Destined in one knock out blow. But the Digi-Destined escape (unfortunately), and the Dark Masters figure they're so easy to destroy that it would be more fun for each Dark Master to single-handedly take on the Digi-Destined at a time. Unsurprisingly, the Dark Masters pay dearly for their arrogance. I felt especially bad for Piedmon, who went through the terrifying Gate of Destiny.
I like how the Dark Masters are representative of absolute evil - there's no shades of gray here. Their ultimate plan is to eliminate or enslave EVERYONE. I love that plan. None of them have a conscience, or have any delusions that what they are doing isn't evil. Indeed, they derive sadistic pleasure by committing heinous acts - if they were in the real world, such actions would amount to crimes against humanity. The Biblical concepts of `absolute good' and `absolute evil' don't exist in real-life, but it's sometimes refreshing to watch a TV show where they do exist, even if it's a simplified reality. Whether they're screaming "RIVER OF POWER!", razing entire cities to the ground, or threatening to destroy the Digi-Destined, I found them so entertaining that a few years ago I taped all the episodes featuring the Dark Masters.
The best quote of the show is when Machinedramon busts through a wall and says in his supercool voice "Oh good. Just what I was looking for. VICTIMS." Then Machinedramon proceeds to massacre everyone in his path. Another great moment was when Metaletemon was doing a rock song about destroying the Digi-Destined, then an annoyed and infuriated Puppetmon screams "ENOUGH!" before the two have a hilarious brawl and spit a lot of insults at each other.
I took a glance at some of the other negative customer reviews, and some good points are raised. This DVD set is not the whole season, and some nut only seems to have chosen the absolute worst episodes for inclusion of this set. THE EPISODES WITH THE DARK MASTERS AREN'T INCLUDED! Oh well... Machinedramon ought to use Plan ELIMIN EIGHT on this DVD set - notice their use of wordplay?
Great.......2005-11-12
I first discovered the series by accident in 1999. A first impression isn't an accurate depiction of what this series is about. Season 1 is by far the best of all the seasons, and was also the most imaginitive and suspencefull. Anyone who likes cartoons with action and soul (and who don't mind listening to corny dialog once in a while) should enjoy this relese.
the beginning.......2005-08-31
digimon is good cause it has realistic characters, situations, plus, variety. pokemon: the same thing every episode ash gets a badge and team rocket blows up...the end. meh. while these first episodes are gopod, and i recomnmend watching them to see how it all began, the show hasnt even gotten NEAR the heights it reaches later on. keep on watching the show, it gets better every season.
The best anime until the date.......2005-08-26
This series is a lot better thant pokemon, this is a anime gem, the series ended, but doesnt matter, is the best serie i ever seen.

It's a start... Again..........2005-09-29
Finally, Season 1 has 'Started Over' in releasing "Digimon Adventure". For a moment, let's forget the simple releases that have been attempted by Fox and Alliance Entertainment and look at what we REALLY could have. It doesn't surprise me that they've only been able to show the first 13 episodes of the Digimon saga (Fox). This volume shrinks it even more to only 6 or 7. So, what's the next volume going to have? Probably 7/8 to 13. I won't be even remotely impressed unless they can produce the episodes that have never made it to public copy: Episodes 14 and on through Seasons 2, 3, 4. The only thing I crave more than ALL the Anime series I've collected is obtaining ALL of the Digimon episodes (Season 1- 52), (Season 2- 50), (Season 3- 51), (Season 4- 51). There are a number of episodes that NEED to get to DVD as are availible all over the U.K. and Japan. (Complete Box Sets)
Bootleeeeeeeeg!!!!!!!!!!!!.......2005-08-26
this is a BOOTLEG. don't get it. If you want REAL quality get official realeases, such as that dvd that has now only these, but seven OTHER episodes on it!
Simply Amazing Digimon DVD!.......2005-03-30
For years I have been searching and hoping that a new Digimon dvd would be released. Well my search is finally over thanks to Alliance Entertainment. After buying the Twentieth Century Fox Season 1 release back in 2001 (mind you, it was not the complete season 1...rather just random episodes), I was hoping some company would finally release Season 1 in "order." Well this disc does that and more. The disc contains the first 6 episodes of Season 1. The Video & Sound quality on the dvd are absolutely perfect. Unlike the 2001 release, the video quality wasn't compromised aka no pixelation. Here are the discs contents:
Episodes 1-6
1."And So It Begins,"
2."The Birth of Greymon,"
3."Garurumon"
4."Biyomon Gets Firepower,"
5."Kabuterimon's Electro Shocker,"
6."Togemon in Toy Town"
Extras Include
*Tai Bio and motion gallery
*Augumon Bio and motion gallery
*Matt Bio and motion gallery
*Gabumon Bio and motion gallery
*Original Japanese Ending
Ultimately this dvd is a dream come true for any Digimon fan as most consider season 1 as the best. Hopefully more volumes will follow in the future. I recommend this dvd for any animation collector as Digimon is one of the rare series that can be enjoyed by children and even adults. Truly a MUST HAVE DVD!
