The animated Time Kid boasts an exciting idea for a family movie: Remake previous film versions of H.G. Wells's irresistible The Time Machine, but tell the story from the point of view of the time-traveling hero's son, who plunges 10,000 years into the future in search of his missing dad. Adolescent Tom Spender leaves his familiar 1902 trappings in a machine similar to the one that took his father, Henry, to a superficially Eden-like future. Like Henry, Tom meets a race of exotic, golden children who appear to want for nothing but lack curiosity about their existence--or about the reasons why so many of them disappear into the cruel hands of a subhuman species. On the downside, Tom is annoying and frequently petulant. The good news is a lot of Time Kid's re-imagining of Wells's futuristic set pieces is quite captivating and refreshing, at moments even superior to previous, live-action adaptations of the book. --Tom Keogh

Amazing Educational Video!.......2006-12-12
If you're looking for an educational, fun, and informative DVD, here it is! Kui's Sunny Days is the perfect DVD for emergent readers who can follow along to the text while listening to the matching words being read aloud. Being a teacher myself, I know how hard it can be to find educationally appropriate media that addresses reading and can maintain student interest. There is no doubt that this DVD would work wonders in my classroom, where I have readers who are struggling to sound out words while also trying to stay interested!
This DVD follows Kui the dog and his friends (who are all adorable) through their daily lives and the issues they encounter. These stories are sure to capture anyone's attention and are easy to relate to. The safety lessons touched upon in this DVD are valuable for children and can be used to teach character education. The most amazing thing is that this DVD would work as well in a home as it would in a school setting!
Not only did this DVD come within 1 week, I recieved a confirmation email immediately upon ordering from the creator herself! I couldn't be happier with this purchase and plan to use it in my classroom with all of my emergent readers!
Thank you!
Jamie N.
Baby and two toddlers!.......2006-12-07
Hi everybody! Um so it can be a lifesaver to pop in a video for the kids, but sometimes as I watch my pumpkins vegging out in front of the popular commercial videos, I feel a little bit guilty.
Most other commercial videos for kids, like Dora or baby Einstein, seem like sweet sugar candy. They're too stimulating, with little nutrition value, and kind of addictive. They overexcite my kids, but at the same time don't teach any real skills or make them think.
I don't know if anyone else here has had this experience, but my kids look so passive watching commercial shows and videos, it's like they're little drugged robots! It's a little bit scary. Afterwards, seems like it's harder for them to concetrate and pay attention to me! Like they're addicted to all the flashing lights and over the top animated special effects. I worry those shows are bad for the brain. I certainly don't think they're doing anything too good.
Kui's Sunny Days is completely different. It's a sunny, fun, active, happy educational experience. It's like having a sweet, child-friendly girlfriend over to lead my kids through an educational storybook. Feels so much better and more nutritious than just another another addictive commercial video. Plus, my kids love it.
So I can still take a break while the kids are watching, without having to worry that their little minds and crucial brain development are taking a break too! Can't recommend Kui's Sunny Days highly enough, there's nothing else really like it out there.
Just seems more caring to me.
Go Kui!

Butchery!.......2000-05-20
Before buying this DVD, I already owned the vast majority of these cartoons on various VHS tapes. The reason I purchased it anyway was to get superior copies of the toons listed. Boy what a disappointment! The sound has been totally screwed up! In an attempt to enhance the the sound, Fox Lorber added sound effects that don't fit very well with the cartoons. (In other words the sounds they added are louder than the rest of the sound track and more clear... making them a serious distraction) The most obnoxious addition is on "Daffy Duck and the Dinosaur".At the end, when the Caveman goes to stab the giant inflatable duck, the morons who worked on the restoration added sounds from the "Psyco" shower scene. What a waste of money. I'll be watching my old VHS tapes instead. Fours stars (for providing a copy of great cartoon shorts) minus two stars (for terrible sound) equals two stars.

Prime Time TV from the Early Days ;The Cisco Kid /Robin Hood.......2005-02-11
If you just require a quick nostalgia check then this release might suffice, however I really can't recommend it.
Although the Cisco Kid was filmed in colour (but processed poorly)the episodes presented here are in black & white. They appear to be old TV prints as they still contain the original ZIV logo.
Whoever wrote the sleeve notes had no idea what he was talking about,Pancho is refered to as Poncho and the actor portrayng him as 'Poncho Carrilo'.(It was Leo Carrilo)this is just sloppy research.
Claims that the contents have been remastered I seriously doubt as the Robin Hood episodes are way too dark and fuzzy.
If you would like to see Robin Hood then check out the UK releases by Network on [...] where the entire 4 seasons are available as box sets in much better quality than presented here and I believe are region free.
Don't forget The Adventures of Robin Hood!!!.......2003-10-02
This two-disc set includes 3 episodes from The Cisco Kid AND 3 episodes from The Adventures of Robin Hood, both enjoyable television adventure series from the 1950s. While the visual quality is fair to good (a little dark at times on The Robin Hood episodes), the rarity of both of these shows on DVD makes this disc a good, inexpensive addition for those who enjoy classic television from the 1950s, especially as it's unlikely that we'll see any "full season" releases that are becoming the norm for more recent television shows.
The Adventures of Robin Hood was broadcast on CBS in the United States from 1955 to 1958. It was produced by Sapphire Films in England by American ex-pat Hannah Weinstein, who also produced The Adventures of Sir Lancelot and other "Adventures of" series in the 1950s, based on historical figures. For an early television adventure series, the production was superb with good scripts (some written by blacklisted Hollywood writers), good acting, and innovative set design. And, for many Baby Boomers, Richard Greene was the ONLY Robin Hood. The episodes selected include both of the actresses who played the role of Lady Marian Fitzwalter: Bernadette O'Farrell and Patricia Driscoll. All in all, this was an entertaining series that still holds up well.
Also entertaining is The Cisco Kid, with Duncan Reynaldo as Cisco and Leo Carillo as Poncho. The show is very much in the vein of The Lone Ranger, but a bit lighter thanks to the comedic talents of Carillo.
The releasing company of this DVD, Nostalgia Ventures, has a small, but interesting catalog of television shows from the 1950s under the banner "Prime Time TV from the Early Days." Fans of the "Golden Age of Television" would do well to check them out.

Inspector Gadget's Last Case
When the inept inspector accidentally thwarts a bank robbery by Dr. Claw's minions, the evil Claw devises a revenge scheme that puts the Gadgetmobile in the shop and Gadget out of a job. During this 73-minute animated feature, things go from bad to worse for Gadget when he abandons his beloved car for a more sophisticated model in the hopes of better competing with Metro City's new superhero Devon Debonair, who's stealing all his good works and publicity. Then Debonair buys Gadget's cast-off, re-dubs it the "Debonairmobile," and provides him with fancy parking quarters and a personal buffer. Gadget may be too dim to figure out the connection to Claw, but thank goodness his niece Penny can think for both of them. While there's an underlying lesson in loyalty, the inspector's real forte is goofy fun. (Ages 3 to 12) --Kimberly Heinrichs
Dennis the Menace: Cruise Control
Dennis the Menace leaps from his infamous place on the comics page into his own feature film, a 75-minute jaunt into madcap mischief and "whodunnit" adventure with pals Margaret and Joey, and crotchety Mr. Wilson (voiced by Tom Arnold). When George Wilson seeks peace and quiet on a three-week cruise to the tropical island of Mimosa, the Mitchells make a surprise appearance into his idyllic vacation. More surprises are in store when Dennis befriends the young princess of Mimosa and unknowingly exposes an evil scheme by her royal advisors to steal her ruby ring and oust her from power. Antics abound aboard the ship as Dennis and friends avoid the bad guys, annoy Mr. Wilson, and add a lot of playful pranks to the mix. While Cruise Control suffers from a formulaic storyline (woefully lacking the one-liner hilarity of the print cartoons), a child's appetite for rudimentary humor will be satisfied. (Ages 5 to 10) --Lynn Gibson
