Fantastic & Well-Paced........2006-05-30

My daughter is almost 14 months and received this DVD for her 1st birthday. She LOVES it. She really, really loves it. She likes to watch it, other times she likes to have it on in the background. She's not interested in Barney or watching cartoons at all. She likes that she recognizes the letters (from mommy singing the ABC's) and the animals she has seen at the petting zoo. We watch it together and I can tell she has picked up some things from this DVD.

The thing I'd like to mention too, is that the music and timing of the shots are something a toddler can really swallow, instead of all those fast-paced, neon, commercialized hyper shows. Oversimplicity and extreme funny voices don't teach a child all that much. I really liked the impact this video had on our lives, albeit a small one, and I can recommend the money spent on it.

Keep in mind though, it doesn't appear to be "high end". Nevertheless, I think your child will probably like it. ;D

My daughter loves My baby know it all (colors & 123's) she has been watching the video since she was 6 mnths old. She loves watching all the kids in the video. This video is the only thing to calm her down when she was crying. She learned where her eyes, nose and mouth were at 11 mnths old from watching this video. I going to buy her My baby Know it all (animals & ABC's) for christmas.

Love It!.......2005-10-22

Finally a video that is as smart as our little ones! I particularly love how the layout of the program is, and my little ones can't get enough of it. Not only is the colors section so thorough, with different examples for each color, and cute rhymes that accompany each one, also, unlike other vids, this video constantly describes what the child is seeing. Something I get tired of doing with other videos. Highly Recommend it, the babies are adorable!!

I teach preschool and am also a mother of two. My little boy is 18 months and a little girl who is 3 and half. Both of my children are captivated by the BABY KNOW IT ALL series. I love the way the video is laid out. Children get so much fun entertainment and are able to learn at the same time. This is a great video that you can trust to let your children watch when you need to take a break. I highly recomend it.

Disappointing.......2004-08-23

Having read all the glowing reviews about this series I shelled out quite a bit to buy the videos and get them shipped to me in Australia. I shouldn't have bothered. The programmes are so disjointed and badly put together. (Eg, we hear about one colour, jump to two separate topics, come back to another colour five minutes later, jump to a completely separate topic, etc) The constant talking is SO grating, too. My toddler refuses to watch them and I too find them confusing and annoying. There's a bit of everything but not enough of anything, it's so poorly structured that I can't see how it could teach a child anything (I am an elementary school teacher) and in fact the jumping between topics could be counter-productive instead. A muddled mess.

GREAT videos.......2007-03-20

We own 4 of the Richard Scarry "Best _____ Video[s] Ever" and they are all wonderful! Not only do my two small children (3 and 1) absolutely love them, but I feel very good about showing them. The animation is very slow-moving and simple--entertaining without being completely graphic-crazy-in-your-face like all the newer computer-animated cartoons. These movies are extremely gentle, calm and low-key and they are great at teaching the kids songs, nursery rhymes, letters and numbers. And also wonderful, they are only 20-25 minutes long, so there's no temptation to put the kids in front of the television for the length of an entire movie....and no protests at stopping a DVD midway through. I HIGHLY recommend these movies if you're looking for something your kids will love and something that steers away from the flashy, fast-moving animated movies.

My 33 month old loves it - it's junk, the production quality is weak, and the "story" is lame but my kid loves it. I think it was a great value given how many times he's watched it.

I have that dvd and I recomend the 123 countingone too it teach your kid to count to 20 some dvd the have counting until 10 only the next dvd I recomend it is abc, counting, color,and shapes from the prep school company they are the best so far on learning dvds for toddlers good luck

My 2 year Old Likes It........2006-12-30

Just bought it for Christmas. My toddler is very picky about what she watches but I purchased this because her speech is a little delayed for her age. When I first played it, I was sure she would protest because it seems s-o-o boring. On the contrary, she has requested to see it several times and can see it over & over, back-to-back. I wish it had the option for "repeat play" though, because it's only 30 minutes long (could have gotten 5 stars if it had this feature). Aside from that, it was definitely worth the money. Whether she actually learns from it or not is yet to be determined.

Simple, Refreshing.......2005-05-24

I loved it that they use American folk songs for background music. Also, using mainly non-cartoon pictures of animals and using both upper and lower case letters adds to the educational content. The voice is clear and quieting. It is original and different from large company productions; maybe that's why it really holds the kids' attention.

Good DVD for children!.......2005-03-25

To be honest, I was bugged as well by the use of a panda to stand for "n" as well as a duck to stand for "u" (the ox used for "x" I could understand...). So I went ahead and contacted the company and asked why they used those animals instead of other animals that started with the respective "n" and "u" letters. I was told that since this was a small company with limited resources, they had bought the animal images for use in the video and those images were also limited in their range/assortment. So they had to make due and become creative in their thinking with their portrayal of the animal alphabet. Okay, I give them credit for trying. And really any video should not be used without parental guidance and participation, so as an activity I do review other animals associated with their respective first letters with my children. On another note, my daughter, who started watching this video when she was 2, loves the associations and wants to go over the abc's ALL THE TIME! She has alphabet letters that she plays with in the tub and she'll pick up a letter and say, for example: "c" is for chicken, or even "e" is for elephant (as in the video). It's very cute plus more importantly I know she's having wholesome images ingrained in her. Even my 6 month-old son loves to watch this video, and really I think the recommended viewing age should be lowered from 1 year+ to 6 months on up. All in all, this video is not something I'd be embarrassed to show around anyone - the bold-lined pictures and the fact that they show both upper and lower case letters is a plus! And really it instills such confidence in my daughter exemplified by her repetition of the letters, so I'd recommend investing in this video to anyone.

Poorly made dvd.......2005-03-11

I purchased this dvd based on the 2 people who gave it 5 stars, my 4 year old still struggles with her abc's and I thought this would be great in helping her identify which words start with what letter, she loves animals which was an added bonus, I was listening to it in the background when I heard N is for Panda, U is for Duck and X is for Ox, now I know that these words have those letters in them but it sent my 4 year old the wrong signal, when asked what starts with the letter N she responds Panda, my 7 and 9 year old were trying to guess what animals matched the letter and even they were shocked and said how can a child possibly learn from this DVD, there has to be a better DVD out there to teach your child their alphabet, one where the letters at least match the word.
Not wrtiting this to be mean, just a very honest person, hope I helped.

Great DVD for Kids.......2004-06-18

My 1 year old and 3 year old loved it. Once you put the DVD on you know you have at least 27 minutes to do what you have to without worrying about what the kids are watching. They will be entertained and learning at the same time. Great way to learn their ABCs and animals. I highly recommend it!

Wholesome Educational Video for Kids!.......2004-05-12

This is an absolutely terrific video for young children. It says for ages 1+, but I've found that some children younger and lots of children older like it as well! The animals are great, as are the sounds for each one. The narrator has a pleasant voice and is quite soothing. Overall, this is a great educational video for kids and you don't have to be afraid to leave them alone with it!
