The animated The Amazing Zorro is a spirited, intelligent version of the old story of a masked avenger fighting for the rights of common people in 1820s Southern California. The tale may be familiar, but there is fresh energy here in the tale of young Diego, the apparently ne'er-do-well son of an influential caballero whose family--as with other families of Diego's class of ranchers and growers--is under attack by a corrupt government. Disguised as Zorro, the real Diego, a man of valor, comes to the defense of Don Pulido, whose land and wealth have been arbitrarily seized and whose daughter is in love with the dazzling hero. Rich characters, a courtly tone, and a sturdy, smart script will engage adults and give kids an unusually thoughtful experience (plus a nice break from brooding superheroes), while the audacious action and comic highlights--especially Zorro's mockery of power--prove delightful. --Tom Keogh

Product Description
Two engaging and imaginative made-for-television animated kids' adventures are collected here. In THE AMAZING ZORRO, the famous masked defender of the weak and righter of wrongs fights against oppression in 19th-century California, where he lives as his alternate identity, the idle and aristocratic Don Diego Vega. TREASURE ISLAND is a fun, action-packed retelling of Robert Louis Stevenson's immortal classic about Jim Hawkins, a young orphan who seeks buried riches alongside the dangerous peg-legged pirate Long John Silver.
