5 out of 5 stars I Am Glad This Is Out Here.......2005-10-04

I have never seen this DVD but one day I may have to.I am primarily using this forum to humble myself and share my story with the reviewers here and anyone who may be curious about this.I myself deal with social anxiety disorder everyday. And for the record most people out here may in fact think that means one is anxious or nervous all the time when it is alot more complex then that.
What it basically means is that when the (otherwise stable)
individual becomes discouraged or anxious they do not have the easiest time dealing with it and putting it in the past.It can really be tremendous burdon on educators, family, friends and loved ones.Sadly I have had to face these situations in my life especially this year. The description of this DVD indicates social anxiety tends to hit between 15 and 25.The latter age was when I began noticing it very seriously-this year.
Alot of adults from earlier generations I encounter, including some members of my own family think that this is not a real problem-that it is an excuse for laziness and not dealing with the world as it is.That for me is the biggest struggle-try to help others understand what I go through is real. And at 25 that reality has left me without a drivers licence,a job or even decent therapy as a result.I live my parents.
That in short is what social anxiety has resulted in for me and I am sure everyone has there own story. But I would like to tell anybody reading this (especially young adults of any age) that no matter what anyone tells you social anxiety disorder is very real and they are NOT alone.DVD's such as this may help,so can therapy. But one big help is talking it out with a loved one and/or family member who will listen. And if you can consider yourself lucky because anxiety begets anxiety sometimes. But do try.
Only in these ways will any of you afflicted with this situation will affectively be able to handle your problems because there are solutions. And once if ever you do you will be better equipted to deal with this world that, for all it's faults and imperfections is the only one we have.
