I love watching Heathcliff after 22 years and still love it back then and now ! I grew up watching Heathcliff on telvison and laughed happy til it went off air ! Heathcliff still funny as ever on dvd now that I watch it !
Heathcliff is 40 stars and love , love , love , love the carttoon !
reccomand for the kids at heart and the children after 22 years !

cartoons you don't find anymore.......2007-01-26

i loved heathcliff growing up. the show always made me laugh.it is a shame that the cartoons of today are nothing like what i watched growing up.Heathcliff is a cat that thinks he owns the street where he lives with family. Heathcliff gets into all kind of trouble. the second half of the show is with the catillac cats who live at the dump on heathcilffs street. the gang is run by Riff Raff who has the hots for Cloe who lives in a music shop with a dog named Butch. Between heathcliff and riff raff you never no what is going to happen.

Bought and enjoyed for the Catillac Cats.......2006-11-30

I watched this series as a kid and only relatively recently was reminded of it. It's a unremembered classic...at least, the second half with Riff Raff and Cleo is. I don't know about the Heathcliff parts, thinking back on it I'm pretty sure that those parts were the ones that bored me(and most people watching the show), despite Mel Blanc's voice talent. The plots are often a bit weak, and the Heathcliff character isn't dynamic enough to save them. I soon started skipping those episodes and you probably will too.

The DVD is not up to "DVD quality." If you just want to watch, it's acceptable, but there is no sign of any special treatment or restoration given to the original video, and you can occasionally see speckling, color bands at the edges, and muddiness in some clips. Sometimes the audio is a bit distorted, which is disappointing since the music in this show is pretty good.

Now I want the second season...

Quality Issues On An Otherwise Great Cartoon.......2006-07-29

I was so excited to find out HeathCliff and the Catillac Cats, one of my favorite cartoons from the 1980's was released on dvd. After viewing some of the episodes I found that they were still as entertaining as I remembered them.
Now for the problems, the picture quality could be much better. The picture has these little flicks of black and white lines in them that come and go very rapidly.(I can't think of any other way to describe them).Also, some episodes from the first disk have a wavy like appearence in the backround on the left hand side in a few scenes. I know these issues are not due to a defective copy as several people I know have copies that due the same thing. If you are willing to overlook these small problems and you love Heathcliff then I would recommened buying this DVD set.

AWESOME!!!.......2006-06-16

This cartoon is sooooooooooooooo underrated.

As a kid, I was the most hyperactive person you could've possibly known.
I absolutely could not sit still and I gave my teachers migraines constantly and get this, I was even worse in the summertime.

With that in mind, I only got to watch this cartoon in the summer and it kept my full attention each time.
Too bad for the unfortunate victims that happened to get stuck monitoring me and my friends in the summer, these episodes were too short.
Not a problem with this set.
If you have kids, get this cartoon. I guaranty it'll get their attention.

Quality is excellent compared to what I was expecting. You even get the Heathcliffe life lessons that were attached to the end of each episode!!

This Heathcliff marathon is not so much a full-length movie as it is a "best of" collection of seven short tales woven together in a continuous story, featuring the vocal talents of the late, legendary Mel Blanc (Bugs Bunny, Porky Pig, et al.). The story opens on a rainy day as Uncle Heathcliff babysits his nephews. Opening his photo album, he recounts past adventures, quickly introducing the vintage episodes that fans will relish. In one tale, Heathcliff's pop gets parole, although Heathcliff thinks he's escaped; in another, Heathcliff's "good angel" conscience makes a short-lived appeal to his saintly side. Nostalgia reigns as the tabby holy terror plays various roles of television star, wrestling champ, and neighborhood bully. The best of the bunch is Heathcliff's brief work for the mob boss, "The Catfather"--a priceless piece of voiceover genius. Heathcliff the Re-Hash.......2004-10-16

Having been a big fan of the Heathcliff comic strip back when I was but a wee `Norch, I figured it was my duty as a fan of the original fat tabby troublemaker to tune into the weekdaily afternoon `toon show that played on the local independent station (yes, children, there WAS a time when there used to be non-network-affiliate TV stations) way back when. While I found the show appropriately silly for the audience it played to, it didn't fully capture the look and spirit of the daily strip. Take for example `Cliff's human buddy Iggy, who went from a baseball-capped blond kid in normal street clothes in the strip to a bare-headed brunette young'un in a somewhat nerdy get-up in the cartoon show. A few of the other supporting characters were also given significant redesigns, but not quite to the extent of what they did to Iggy. Then there's the near-sighted, propeller-beanie-wearing Willie... who was nowhere to be seen in the show (alhough his name was brought up a couple times). And while our hero's feline girlfriend Sonja popped up from time to time to join in the fun, the appropriately-monikered `Crazy' Shirley never even got a cameo. And don't get me started on the addition of the three Catillac Cats from the `Cats `n' Company' side of the show...

Anyhoo, I'd pretty much seen every Heathcliff `toon at least twice by the time I heard that this movie was playin' at the local multiplex. Naturally I wanted to check it out, and harangued the `rents about it for three days straight until they finally caved. It started off okay, with the main man-- er, cat recounting his greatest adventures to his visiting nephews. Ya know, sorta like Donald Duck talkin' to Huey, Duey, and Louie... only without the speech impediment. Only thing was, every single "adventure" in the film had already been played on the TV show! Except for the "Heathcliff-and-his-nephews" frame around each vignette, there was not an inkle of original material here! The flick was a freakin' "best-of" clip show! Needless to say, I was ticked! I was hopin' to catch something new, and ended up wasting four hard-earned allowance dollars on `toons I'd already seen on the small screen for free! For that kinda dough I coulda' added three new Heathcliff comic-strip paperbacks to my collection via my middle school's Scholastic book-ordering club!

Sadly, I mark my unfortunate experience with this movie as the moment when this beloved tabby "jumped the shark" with me. A few years after my unfortunate experience, my interest in Heathcliff was pretty much kaput. I got rid of my extensive collection of comic-strip paperbacks, and got on with my life. It was a tough thing to do, but it hadda be done...
