In today's world, the decisions of a few individuals can make momentous changes to a nation and even to the entire world, based on their individual actions. If you'd don't know what your ethics- your values- are, you won't know what to do in an emergency situation where you have the control -- where you can make a real difference. This program motivates people and shows striking examples of what can happen when people do not know how they feel. It gives viewers ways to develop their personal ethics—their ethical standards. Personal Ethics explores the personal ethical mistakes at Chernobyl, at the Exxon Valdez disaster, by Gangsta Rappers, and uses their stories to help viewers understand their ethical values so that they can articulate them and use them when needed. The show is hosted by Meg Ryan, and made for children over the age of 12 and for adults as well.

The Human Race Club is a group of animated gradeschoolers who meet in their clubhouse, plan activities, and learn life lessons together. In this 23-minute episode, the kids learn the hard way that the out-of-control emotions of one person can hurt others. Guided by an animated version of Joy Berry (producer of this video series and author of the "Living Skills" and "Let's Talk About It" kids' books), viewers follow the quintet as they vote to answer the challenge of a rival baseball team and recall another less-than-successful competition. When Maggie misunderstands the group's meeting minutes and believes someone else was chosen to steer their go-cart in the town derby, she angrily takes the club's hand-built vehicle on a disastrous ride. With its explicitly spelled-out messages, this series barely passes for entertainment and would be most useful in schools or for behavioral specialists working with children. As this program shows, since they may even be in a position of power, influence and/or control, their decisions can make monumental differences. This program was made to help young people examine their personal ethics. It demonstrates effective techniques for finding one's personal values and standards, and presents some very striking examples of what can happen when people don't search inside themselves. It allows viewers to understand and articulate their own personal ethics and their ethical standards. Personal Ethics explores the personal ethical mistakes made at Chernobyl, during the Exxon Valdez disaster, in the lives of gangster rappers, and others, and uses their stories and their experiences to help viewers understand their own ethical values so that they can articulate them and rely on them when needed. This video is hosted by Meg Ryan and made especially for young people over the age of 12. Adults find it fascinating as well. Funded by the Kellogg Foundation and the Mott Foundation in 1994, this program on ethics was desperately needed on the high school level. It is now being used in over 30,000 schools with accompanying materials.
