Sabrina the Teenage Witch is turning 13 years old and she's off to the Witch Academy (suggestive of Harry Potter's Hogwarts School) to learn the three principles of witchdom: to use magic wisely, be true to one's friends, and be true to one's self. Feeling inferior because she's only half-witch, Sabrina conceals her mixed heritage and manages to rise to a position of popularity. Sabrina joins her new friends in making fun of Nicole, a "bookworm" who doesn't fit in, but, when Sabrina discovers that Nicole is a half-witch like herself, the pair journeys to the witches' realm in hopes of becoming full witches. The question is, is the cost of becoming a full witch worth the price of their newfound friendship? This Nickelodeon feature-length Sabrina the Teenage Witch follows three previous animated shows and a live action program based on the original 1962 Sabrina the Teenage Witch comic. (Ages 6 and older) --Tami Horiuchi

But Sabrina has a plan that's guaranteed to make her a permanent part of the popular crowd. Follow Sabrina on her most fantastic adventure ever!

5 out of 5 stars Nice movie!.......2004-11-04

Since the Animated Series was a huge hit, this cute TV movie (based on the series) was made when the show ended and before the spin-off of the series (Sabrina's Secret Life) started airing. While I have not seen Sabrina's Secret Life, I enjoyed watching the animated series when it first aired, and recently viewed this movie as well.

The movie revolves around Sabrina, our favorite teenage witch, who upon turning 13 has to attend the Witch Academy. Feeling different from the others, because she is only a half-witch (and half a mortal), she has trouble fitting in. However, as the story progresses, she realizes who her true friends are, and what is really important in life.

The story is well-paced with unexpected twists and turns, and leaves us with morals that are not only important to witches, but to the viewers like us as well. The animation is great, and even the people who gave their voices to the characters did a good job. All in all, this is a great movie to see whether you are a fan of the show or not.

3 out of 5 stars Many mistakes, but ok..........2003-05-20

This movie was nice but there were any mistakes.
1. It's explained in the cartoon that a half-mortal turns into a full witch/warlock when they are 16 not 13, otherwise the girls used that full witch spell.
2. Sabrina could fly and drive a broom in the cartoon.
3. How on Earth did the Spellmans go to the Netherworld(or Other Realm in Sabrina the Teenage Witch)'cause they must go to the shower or the attic.
4. Why does Salem sound surprised when he said "Hey, you did magic!"? Sabrina was casting spells scince she was 4! and Salem has seen her do magic b4.
5. Salem is grey. (DIC needs to watch the reruns again...)
the movie was ok but everyone (except Portia, Nicole, and the other witches) were bad. Hilda, Zelda, and Salem were the worst!
but it's cool anyway...:)

5 out of 5 stars Better than the cartoon series.......2003-05-16

This full-length animated feature is excellent, and much better than any single episode of the animated Sabrina TV series. There's more magic! Tons of zaps and spells.

The voices are different, however. Emily Hart, Melissa's younger sister, did the voice of cartoon Sabrina in the series, while Melissa did the voices for Aunts Hilda and Zelda. Not on this DVD, but that doesn't matter. Salem sounds more like Paul Lynde, but that's ok too.

Buy it, buy it, buy it!

2 out of 5 stars The 1st Animated Movie.......2003-05-12

Just an ok movie. It's about a young Sabrina who goes to a hogwarts like school and the students treat her diffrent because she is half mortal on her 13th birthday.

    My Fair Madeline
A charming story of friendship and girl power pits the pint-sized Madeline against a couple of upper crust crooks, while underscoring the importance of integrity and loyalty. The tale begins in Paris when Miss Clavel (voiced by Whoopi Goldberg) escorts her boarding school girls to the Louvre museum. Captivated by Leonardo da Vinci's "Mona Lisa," the fearless and feisty Madeline lingers behind, and becomes the sole witness to an attempted robbery of the rare painting. When she raises a ruckus, the crooks flee and Madeline is left to take the blame for the catastrophe. Banished to a London finishing school as punishment, Madeline goes undercover to expose the thieves, while her best pals get to work in Paris--"intent on finding the truth, 11 girls go out to sleuth." Based on author Ludwig Bemelman's familiar style, the animated film is entirely in rhyme, accompanied by a handful of toe-tappin' tunes. (Ages 3 to 10) --Lynn Gibson

    Groove Squad
When a trio of cheerleaders gets zapped by a jolt of electricity while at a local hairdresser, a lot more changes than just their hair styles. Endowed with special powers like X-ray vision, super strength, and the ability to fly; cheerleaders Christy (voiced by Jennifer Love Hewitt), Ping, and McKenzie soon find themselves with a responsibility even greater than winning the cheerleading championship--thwarting the evil Dr. Nightingale's plans for total world domination. As the trio explores their newfound superhero powers, they learn the value of teamwork and perseverance. The Nickelodeon Groove Squad girls may be stereotypically obsessed with their looks and popularity, but much like Kim Possible, the group quickly proves to be an athletic group of women serious about the sport of cheering and their responsibility to society. Popular teen lingo pervades this feature-length presentation that's packed with humorous details like flower power hippies, a fully equipped car à la James Bond, and a character who sounds like Austin Powers.
