Interesting but Not Appropriate.......2007-05-13

The DVD is interesting for a short period of time. The story progresses too slowly. My daughter (age 3) became bored. The focus isn't on the potty enough.

Backfired in our case.......2007-04-01

Our 2 1/2 year son recently took interest in the video *after* being potty trained. Within a few days he started having accidents, which he really didn't have before, even when first learning to use the potty. I finally asked him why he was going in his pants and he said it was because "Ojo didn't make it to the bathroom".

There is a scene in this video where Ojo the Bear doesn't make it to the bathroom in time and has an accident. For some reason, our son thought this gave him permission to have accidents, probably because Bear says accidents are ok. While this is true, our son took this statement to heart and now I have to work with him all over again. The video is fine except for this scene, as it can easily be misinterpreted by little ones. Bear is very reassuring about accidents, but probably too much so.

Bear is a hit with my toddler!.......2007-03-29

My toddler wasn't familiar with Bear in the Big Blue House but became a fan after this dvd! She really likes the potty episode and the other 2 episodes that are included on the dvd. She asks for more bear after watching it every time! The potty training episode is light hearted and yet covers the gamut of emotional concerns a toddler may have about transitioning from diapers to using the potty. She isn't potty trained as a result of course, but I think the dvd is a great tool for encouragement for sure. She's 22 months and still may have a ways to go before ditching the diapers. This dvd is tasteful, cute, and really a pleasure for me to see and not get tired of too! We really like the other 2 episodes included on the dvd too, sometimes she watches all 3 in one day!

Not a great potty training aid.......2007-01-31

I was disappointed with this collection simply because it wasn't what I expected. The first show featured on this DVD mostly focuses on potty issues like going potty even if you're in the middle of a fun game, accidents sometimes happen even if you're trying to get to the potty really fast or when you're sleeping, etc. This is all great, but the next two episodes don't relate to the potty at all - at least not if you're a two-year-old! With a name like "Potty Time," I was expecting something a little more focused.

I do think this show is very cute. My son likes "Bear and the Big Blue House" in general, but this was not very motivating with potty issues. If you're looking for a real potty-training aid, I highly recommend "Potty Power."

Potty Training Playtime.......2006-11-10

As with all the Bear in the Big Blue House videos this DVD was done with fun music, great characters, and a lot of tact. If you are in the trenches of potty training or just starting this is a really fun and relatable DVD for the our little friends. We loved that fact that they even addressed pooping on the potty. This is often an issue not dealt with on other videos and often the hardest task to master. Other issues that Bear deals with are staying clean and dry, accidents while your trying to get there and you have to stop playing and go. The song "You're a Toileteer" has been sung over and over by the whole family. Of course we will love not talking about the toilet, someday. But since that doesn't seem to be anytime soon...We love our Bear!

This video for teaching little ones about the potty is one of the most successful because kids can easily relate to the characters from the popular series Bear in the Big Blue House. Even though each character has a specific problem (asking for permission, fear of the unknown, bathroom etiquette), the video scores points for the gentleness and calm it communicates to kids. Bear is always upbeat and helpful, a great coach for kids. The songs are catchy too--"Potty Chair" has a rhyming scheme that goes from "underwear" to "millionaire," and there's a hysterical psychedelic '60s number. Older kids may benefit from watching as a confidence builder. By the end, the kiddies may be running to the bathroom to practice their talents, shouting, "I'm a Toileteer!" We love this DVD.......2007-06-14

This DVD has three episodes that all are wonderful. The songs are really catchy and the stories/characters are sweet and delightful. Highly recommended.

Not really aimed at very young children.......2007-02-01

I watched this video with my 2 two year old boys and it did absolutely nothing for them. We even watched it several times in hopes maybe they would start to like it. The language was well above them and they lost interest very quickly. It is not really about becomming potty trained, and so my children just really looked confused. This movie is not bad, it just would be better for a child that is 3 or 4 and already potty trained but still having trouble with accidents as one of the characters almost has one and the other actually does. In fact, we let my 5 yr. old watch it because she still has trouble telling when to stop her activities to go potty. It was great for that.

My kids really did learn a lot from this movie, I would recommend it when your child is trying to learn to go on the potty.

POTTY POWER KICKS THE POOP OUT OF THIS ONE!.......2006-02-27

Ok my kids love Bear however didn't really get into this DVD. "Potty Power" however they loved and watch over and over. Bear is a little slow to get to the songs and they aren't that great in my opinion. "Potty Power" however has very catchy songs and convinced my stubborn 3 year old to finally try to go potty! Hooray!

My daughter loves this video. She does not otherwise watch this show "Bear In The Big Blue House" and was NOT familiar with any of the characters. That did not matter. I have also seen many of the other videos and books. This video did more to encourage her than any of the other videos. Encouragement was a huge part of the process and the video helped to keep her on track and to keep trying. For instruction, we used the video by Alona Frankel called "Once Upon a Potty". We HIGHLY recommend using her Once Upon a Potty potty chair. It is so easy and comfortable for the kids to get on and off. We have owned or seen probably all of the potties out there and this one is really NICE and one piece--it is the easiest to use and to clean. We only use it in her room at night, though since we quickly transitioned her during the day to the Baby Bjorn potty seat on the big potty.
