I got it used, and one day my daughter picked it out randomly to watch. Ever since then, she watches it at least once a day. This is a very good buy for children who already no the basics of the Alphabet, and love to sing and dance.

I rented this DVD from the public library hoping my 17 month old would enjoy it while learning some ABCs. When it came on, my child immediately turned away and asked to see Baby Einstein. She likes to see real children and people and objects beeing portrayed on-screen which is why I thought this would be good. The DVD starts with Sharon, Lois & Bram on-stage in colorful getups dancing and singing a superfast rendition of the ABC song that is NOT the traditional one we are all used to. They are in front of a studio audience of children and parents who are also dancing around. It then cuts away to various scenes that fail miserably at trying to present the letters of the alphabet. Most of the scenes don't even make any sense at all and fail at teaching the child what letter they are even talking about. I must say that I stopped the DVD half-way thru when it became crystal clear that my child was not going to sit thru it, and I could barely stand it myself. I am so glad I did not waste my money on this as it would have ended up in a garage sale or donation pile. I think i'll put the money toward another Baby Einstein DVD.

We also rented this from the library and had to rent it again and again until I ordered it. The songs are catchy and fun. I don't think they learned all the letters from this particular video but they did have fun and danced alot.

This was one of the best movies I've ever, ever seen. Even though this movie is quite long, It worth seeing again.

My favorite hands down is lonesome dove. I reserve the right to change my mind though because I saw centennial years before lonesome dove and haven't seen it since. One thing that I do know with absolute certainty is that centennial didn't have as good an ending. The ending to Lonesome Dove was perfect, immensely powerful. Centennial left me a bit disappointed but that's totally forgiven because the rest of the miniseries was so good. I can't believe this movie hasn't come to DVD. There's no excuse for it. Probably a marketing ploy of sorts. They better hurry if their plan is to make money cause if they go much longer, all the fans that have seen it will be dead.

Man, the price of the VHS version I've seen so far are insanely high. I did see a site selling the DVD, professional looking and all, but they must have bootlegged it from VHS to DVD because it hasn't been released on DVD yet has it? Or is amazon a bit slow in getting the news?

Please someone get this series out on DVD for all to see. i would love to show this film to my grandchildren. with so much garbage out there it' would be nice to have a great series to watch. it is not only entertaining but also educational. thank you

My husband has been pining for Centennial to be released for years--I have too. The only copy we have is one we taped off the Connecticut station years ago (complete with the winning lottery numbers). But even with an inferior copy we pull it out every now and then and still enjoy it: the story, the performances, and the opening music. As for the length, it is better spread over a few nights (or even weeks) anyway, and if you think it is weak in parts, just what would you want to remove? Certainly not the cattle drive with R.J. Poteet and ol' O.D. Cleaver--definitely one of the best segments!
This mini-series should be on DVD, and we fans deserve to have it!
