Great video. . .but I found some goofs........2006-01-23

I have this Thomas video on VHS rather than DVD. It is a great Thomas realease! I got it for Christmas when I was 4 or 5 years old. The stories are good too. My favorite one is Haunted Henry or Duncan gets spooked. The song is good too! I also found some goofs. In Rusty&The Boulder, when Rusty says to Skarloey "yes, but how", if you look closely at his eyes as they move, they cross! In Haunted Henry, when the freight cars fall off the cliff, one of the cars' faces almost falls completly off. In Duncan gets spooked, the "ghost engine" is the Skarloey modul engine.(this is noticable because skarloey has a flat cab, and so does the ghost engine). Put aside the goofs and you've got yourself a GREAT Thomas video.

Thomas has always been a good video set but these epasoides were to scary for my brother and sister it has very scary stuf in like a boluder almost crushed rusty ducans driver and fireman play a nasty prank on him a engine falls of a bridge fog is in every story expect the last to nasty desials arry and bert almsot scrap stypney and have frighting voices the backrounds are vary dark and a seed bruns down i dont think its ment for younger kids it relly scary for them buy another video like thomas cristmas wonderland or new friends for thomas they or better then this

Thomas has alwasy been a nice sires of video for childer with lots of fun every video has to foter or 6 or 7 storeis.BUT in this video is extremly frighting for young viewers they countain crash sceans buldings calopseing buldings engines falling of bridges bolders almost squishs rusty ducans driver and fireman play a mean prank on him scary backrounds arry and bert almost scrap stypney and have frighting voices fog is almost in every almost all the stories and a tarabile fire.It scared my little brother and sister so much they havent watch it agian but they only watched the last stories and the song so im waring you i think it was more for older childer if you ask me should be pg to warn pepole about the frighting content buy some other video like trust thomas or sing along and stories they or much more sutabile for younger childer

Not the best selection of episodes.......2004-12-22

With this video, it was obvious that the producers were trying to spice up the series by making it creepier and more action-packed, and the result was this collection of rather low-quality episodes.

I do enjoy these episodes, but some of them could be genuinely frightening to young children. Sheds explode, boulders race down railway lines, engines and freight cars plunge off high bridges into ravines, runaway trains crash through level crossings, a lost engine is nearly smeltered down...the list goes on. Plus not one of these episodes is a patch on "Percy's Ghostly Trick" and "Thomas, Percy and the Dragon," and the last episode, "Sir Topham Hatt's Holiday," isn't even scary, so why they put it on the video I have no idea. Same goes for the song, "Every Cloud Has a Silver Lining." The song "Night Train" would have more suitable.

Another low point of the video is Alec Baldwin's narration. In "Cranky Bugs" and "Races, Rescues and Runaways," he did a fairly good job despite his vocalisations for James and Gordon. But it was this video where his narration went downhill. He lacks emotion in several bits, and some of his voices could do with touching up a bit, particularly Duncan, who sounds plain weird, and Stepney, who sounds like your average Cockney or Australian person. He also changes Annie and Clarabel's voices at one point (changing voices was something which became a trend in his later episodes).

All in all, "Spills and Chills" isn't a bad Thomas video, but there are many better ones out there.

My son loves this dvd more than any other!!.......2004-10-07

When we recieved this DVD as a gift I was a bit apprehensive, then I watched it. My son's face lit up at the action and adventure that Thomas and friends provided. He ask me all the time to watch "boulder" video. Boulder is a character in the movie. Now when he goes to bed I ask him to tell me a story, and he tells me about boulder. I nearly cried at how cute he was telling me about the boulder on a cold night on the island of sodor. I recommend this for all parents of Thomas lovers.
