Much Respect, But I Can't Bear This..........2007-07-06
A whole lot of 60's Batman fans are gonna hate me for this one, but I'm sorry...while I couldn't get enough of the hokey Batman & Robin fashion of the 60's as a little kid, I grew to love the original Dark Knight persona of Batman from the 80's to the present, no exceptions. This collection is good for historical value but not for nutritional. Felt like I was watching Suiperfriends with only Batman & Robin. BOOOOOOO!
Awesome .......2007-07-03
The new adventures of batman is pretty good and i was surprised to see that Adam West & Burt ward did the voices and was happy about it to. in this tv show batman is more for little kids hardly any violince in it and thats pretty cool that they did that. it put a new turn on batman. and is very enjoyable for eveyone. i can't wait until they put Batman the one with adam west in it on dvd.
keep releasing these classic Filmation cartoons!!! .......2007-07-02
I can't believe it's taken so long for these classic Filmation cartoons to be released. The He-Man Filmation series has been released over these past few years & the Star Trek Filmation series finally got released on DVD last year. Why has it taken so long for the New Adventures of Batman to see the light of day? Who knows, but let's be grateful especially since the 60's live action series has not yet been released.
As other reviewers have noted, if you are not familiar with Bat-mite. He is to Batman as the Great Gazoo was to the Flintstones, Orko was to He-Man, & Jar Jar Binks was to Star Wars. So the intention of this character is to add a comic relief & thus appeal to young children. If you are OK with that, you will enjoy the New Adventures of Batman. The only slight disappointment is that unfortunately the Riddler does NOT make an appearance; no episodes were made with him as the villain.
Hopefully, this release will get the ball rolling with some of the other classic Filmation animated series. What about Tarzan? After all, for a period of time, CBS presented them both as a double bill: "the Batman/Tarzan Adventure Hour". Hopefully, Tarzan will be released next along with other Filmation series the Lone Ranger & Zorro not too far behind.
This is a great way for little kids to get into Batman!.......2007-06-29
This cartoon is what got me into Batman in the first place. I loved watching these cartoons with Adam West and Burt Ward from the TV series back when I was 5 or 6 in 1977/1978 along with the other Batman cartoon with Olan Soule and Casey Kasem doing the voices. I thought Batmite was cute but he's kind of a JarJar Binks type character who is clumsy a lot of the time. This cartoon isn't as dark as the recent Batman animated series and I think that's a good thing because little kids can't handle dark and intense stuff. The stories may appear campy and zany to a lot of people but I think these cartoons are for all ages and I think this is something the whole family can enjoy as they are simple fun adventure stories and that's the way I always saw them even when I was little. I'more into the dark Batman ie.comics, animated series.movies etc but I have always loved The New Adventures of Batman with Batman,Robin and Batmite battling the Joker,Penguin and Mr.Freeze. I always thought Batman was more fun with Robin because I have always liked their colorful costumes. I hope WB releases the original 1969 Batman cartoon with Olan Soule and Casey Kasem as the voices of Batman and Robin sometime in the near future hopelly this year.
My personal favorite episode was He Who Laughs Last where the Joker steals a steam train with Robin getting out a boxcar with a laser torch from his utility belt.
I don't like bat-mite.......2007-06-28
If you haven't seen this show, brace yourself for bat-mite. It's kind of like a clumsier, more annoying version of the Great Gazoo from the Flintstones. I don't know what's he is doing there, but I don't like it. Other than that the show is pretty good. The animation isn't the greatest, but that's what all TV animation was like at that time. It's cool that Adam West does the voice of Batman.

Product Description
In the hit show that continues the Batman storyline from the EmmyO-winning Batman: The Animated Series, two years have passed and Batman still protects the streets of Gotham City from the demented criminals that inhabit its dark alleys. But irreconcilable differences with Dick Grayson lead to the collapse of the Batman/Robin crimefighting duo and to the birth of Gotham's new hero Nightwing. Batgirl fights at Batman's side, and a new Robin takes flight after Batman's chance encounter with young Tim Drake. In these 24 thrilling episodes, the Gotham Knights face their worst enemies - Joker, Penguin, Mr. Freeze and many more - in a comprehensive 4-disc set that completes the Batman animated saga!
Running Time: 521 min.
Format: DVD MOVIE
Amazon.com
The fourth and final volume of Batman: The Animated Series is a little uneven but still encompasses some great episodes. Start with "Over the Edge," a nightmarish scenario in which Commissioner Gordon dedicates himself to hunting down Batman following the death of his daughter, Batgirl. "Critters" is a tribute to Japanese monster movies, "Mad Love" recounts the origin of Harley Quinn, and "Legends of the Dark Knight" animates both a '50s-styled Batman adventure as well as a scene from Frank Miller's Return of the Dark Knight. This run of 24 episodes has a lot of Batgirl, too little Nightwing, and a lot of the new Robin, Tim Drake, whose origin is explained in "Sins of the Father." Drake gets a mostly solo adventure, Batgirl teams with Supergirl, and there's still a sense of fun, with goofy humor that includes an appearance by the Three Stooges as the Joker's henchmen. Guest voices include Sela Ward as Calendar Girl and Tippi Hedren, and Mark Hamill continues the excellent work as the Joker that created some early rumors about his taking the live-action role in the sequel to Batman Begins. By this time, Batman had become part of the Batman/Superman Hour, so viewers can choose the opening sequence for either that or the original animated series. That, as well as the unbalanced number of episodes in the seasons (e.g., the first season of the animated series was 60 episodes), is why Batman: The Animated Series was released in volumes rather than as single-season sets. --David Horiuchi
Customer Reviews:
It was enjoyable.......2007-05-31
The movie was good and it reminded me of the good cartoons that use to air.
Different from the last 3 volumes.......2007-05-06
The first few episodes weren't that great, but overall it was enjoyable. Still worth buying.
I agree with some of these Amazon reviews here........2007-04-07
I agree with some of these Amazon reviews here. The Batman: Animated Series: Volume 4 is not as great as the first three seasons of the series. For some reason, they changed the animation. It's similar to the Bruce Timm's original design of Batman style but it's not the same. I will recommended it but only because the episodes are still good. Dick Grayson becomes Nightwing in this season. Tim Drake is Robin and Batgirl joins the Batman's team. the writing in the episodes are good. but the animation kind of sucks. C
A downhill slump.......2007-03-22
While still largely enjoyable, and even occasionally extraordinary, the fourth volume simple cannot compare on nearly any level to the previous three, leaving a largely disappointed audience.
The more angular character designs range from interesting (scarecrow) to just kind of annoying (the Joker) and sadly most of it falls into the latter category, since Batman: The Animated Series was already pretty stylized to begin with.
Why did it have to change?.......2006-12-14
My family of 4 including two daughters 8 and 6 had been happily watching season 1-3 of Batman the animated series through Netflix. We were all excited to receive the first disc of season 4 and very quickly disappointed. Parents should know that this set is much more violent than the previous seasons. We actually sent the disc back without letting the girls watch most of the episodes. After trying the first three episodes and hoping they would go back to the high-quality, child appropriate yet adult savy style we had enjoyed, they were simply mindless violence and disappointing dialogue. I agree with a previous reviewer that the violence between Harley and the Joker was also not OK for children. I would recommend The Justice League if you are looking for something to watch when you finish the first three seasons of Batman.

Why settle for less?.......2005-04-27
Instead of settling for four episodes, including a retread of what's already been released, go for the recently-released volumes. Each volume (as of this writing, two are on the market and the third is being released next month) contains 23 episodes. Every episode, I believe. All in order. You don't miss out. You get every story you remember as a kid (or a younger adult ... you geeks know who you are). More for your money, folks. You won't be disappointed.
Don't waste ur money.......2005-01-18
Buying this would not make sense if you A. Bought Batman The Animated Series: Volume One or B. Batman TAS The Legend Begins. If you have one or the other and hopefully not conned by Warner to buy both and think you would want this then you would have 2 and if ur that rare case of ones who bought BOTH A. and B. then you would have 3 Christmas' with Joker. Now I would urge you to buy Volume One and later 2 then to go question yourself if you have this episode and why is this episode on both DVD's. Be safe and read before you buy.
Batman rules.......2004-03-26
Look...Batman-The Animated Series is, by far, the best interpretation of the Dark Knight outside of the comic books themselves. That's why I rate this DVD 5 stars.
I have good news for all those who complain about the bare bones, 4 episodes per disc DVDs that the WB have been issuing so far.
It turns out that this summer, Warner Bros is finally gonna start releasing Batman- THe animated Series in complete season box sets. With special features galore. Rejoice.
What the Heck?.......2004-03-17
I am really getting miffed. I LOVE this show. It is exactly why I keep buying up these DVDs. I am basically wanting to collect every episode of these great series on DVD.
BUT, the repeat of the episode "Christmas with the Joker" really has me miffed. There are only a limited amount of these episodes on DVD and they are repeating episodes?
I am really frustrated because I want these episodes on DVD, but I truly am wasting my money on these [...] products Warner Bros. is producing. Why is every other television series released in the correct manner?
BE WARNED.......2004-03-14
While I loved this show when it aired, the WB is really screwing things up. This DVD includes four episodes, however, if you bought Batman: The Legend Begins, you'll have bought the same episode twice (Christmas with the Joker)
Here are the episodes:
Christmas with the Joker
The Laughing Fish
Fire from Olympus
Deepr Freeze

batman the animated series is the best.......2004-05-02
batman the animated series is the best t.v. show of all time. if i were to rate the series it would be a five out of five. my favorite of beyond all episodes is batgirl returns. i wish they would hurry up and bring all of them out in box sets on dvd. this dvd has the episodes:
Eternal Youth
House and Garden
Bird of a feather
& the Mechanic
all great episodes smashed onto a great dvd i would recomend it to people but if it was me i am waiting for july 6th to get the first season on dvd!
[ ].......2004-04-20
What are they doing? This fantastic cartoon, along with Batman the Animated Tales deserves it's own box set. The amount of work that went into this show created an allegiance of fans, all of who are desperate to get their hands on season sets rather than single episodes.
They did it for Transformers, why can't they do it for Batman?
Please release a box set Warner Bros. You know you can, and you know we want it. So hurry up!
I refuse to buy this unless I am sure that this is the only D.V.D format that it will be released in. I am assuming that I am not the only one.
Great Episodes! But not a perfect DVD........2004-03-20
Call me crazy, but I love all the extras you get the DVD's these days. I love this show and I was so happy when this DVD came out. (House and Garden is one of my fav episodes!) I would gladly recommened this DVD to all B:TAS fans who loved this show, but I'm a little let down by there only being four episodes (I'm antsy for other episodes too) and the fact that there are no extras/special features. I want more!
