This 45-minute short contains Sesame Street songs from the old days right up to the 1999 theatrical feature The Adventures of Elmo in Grouchland. Elmo hosts this companion piece to the theatrical film. However, the final product should put a smile on the faces of Elmo fans. Besides the songs from the movie, the Sesame Street gang sings (and words appear for the audience) pop tunes ("Sing") and classic songs from the show ("C is for Cookie," "Rubber Ducky"). The tape also contains an extended segment of Sesame Street in which Elmo learns all about bouncing balls. --Doug Thomas

An Elmo-centric song collection.......2007-04-23

This is a quickie followup to the feature film, "Elmo In Grouchland," with Elmo going back to the bizarro-universe home of the grouches, where everyone is grumpy and cooperation is forbidden. Elmo spends his time there trying to get his grouch friend, Grizzy, to lighten up and sing a little. Many old "Sesame Street" songs are recycled here, including classics such as "Rubber Duckie" and "C Is For Cookie," along with a bunch of newer tunes that star Elmo.

If your kid is already into Elmo, then this will be a welcome addition to your video library... The songs are okay, although the connective "plot" segments are often quite flimsy, and the actual edits in and out of the song numbers are sometimes a bit rough. Not a lot of thought went into producing this disc, but it still makes a good viewing experience.

Entertaining and fun!.......2006-07-25

We have "Elmo in Grouchland", the movie, which has great music, a nice story and entertains the entire family. My 20-month old son LOVES it! I purchased "Elmo in Grouchland (Sing and Play)" figuring that we could enjoy the songs without watching the entire movie, which is exactly what this DVD does. Like the movie, the Sing and Play entertains all of us with singing, dancing, and fun.

Outstanding DVD.......2006-03-23

My child LOVES this DVD. It has lots of great songs that your child can sing along with. All of the popular characters are in it. It also has a bonus at the end titled "Balls". It's a lot like Elmo's World on Sesame Street. Since my son loves balls it really keeps his attention. I would definitely add this to your collection!!

'C' is for Creative and That's Good Enough for Me........2005-10-29

This is hands down my favorite video of my son's extensive collection! It is hillarious and very creative down to little details. For instance a scene takes place in Egypt and the puppets have special eye makeup to match, and during The Night Bug Boogie you'll spot a bug puppet with several eyes on his head! Ha ha ha. I also love the moment Elmo starts singing a sappy song and one of the grouches in the background says "That's it I'm outta here!", and the time that Grizzy recounts almost loosing her "Soggy Pants Sandy Doll"- you just have to laugh. I'm also a huge music fan and I have to hand it to Sesame Street for doing a take-off on Stomp and putting some umpf in the theme song and Take the First Step. I liked the music so much I had to buy the soundtrack for car rides. It is the only cd of my son's that I will crank and sing a long to. If other adults saw me I'm sure they would laugh, but I would look at them with the conviction of a suburban white guy jammin to the latest rap cd- then buzz on my way. You won't be disappointed with this movie. It just vibes with fun fun fun.

My Elmo lover loves it!.......2004-06-25

This is THE video to get for your little elmo fanatic! My 22 month old son can't seem to get enough of Sesame Street, especially Elmo. I bought this video to quench his never ending thirst for more Elmo and hit PAYDIRT!
This is isn't necessarily an educational video but it is tons of fun! The songs are great and Elmo is prominent throughout. It was even fun enough that I happily watch it with him (I usually take advantage of 'video time' to get chores done).
If your going to let your children watch t.v., Sesame Street is the wat to go. Normally don't advocate t.v. watching for children, but there is something special about Sesame Street that I make an exception for. My son has learned to count to ten, alot of the alphabet, and other miscellaneous things through a combination of myself and Sesame Street. For example, He recognizes letters and numbers when they come up on a video. When used as a supplement by parents (not a substitute), I think Sesame Street can be a useful (& fun) learning tool!
