Love fills the air as Valentine's Day approaches--but it's mostly unrequited love for the Peanuts gang, in A Charlie Brown Valentine. The first new Peanuts feature to be created after cartoonist Charles M. Schulz's death in 2000, this 25-minute show looks and sounds like earlier Charlie Brown fare: vividly animated round-faced kids (penned by the king of the uberpopular newspaper comic strip, himself) and a skippy piano score. Chuck still can't attract the little red-headed girl, Peppermint Patty can't sway his affections, and Schroeder ignores Lucy's blatant request for kisses and chocolate. But this story lacks the heart of Charlie Brown's Halloween and Christmas specials, in which characters occasionally step away from their ponderings to skate, dance, or just act like kids. Instead, chronic whining hogs nearly all the action. When Chuck finally dons a tuxedo for his date at the school Valentine's Day dance, the payoff feels too little, too late. Be My Valentine Charlie Brown.......2007-02-07
A cute show for valentine's day. Charlie Brown waits for a valentine from someone, ANYONE. Meanwhile, Linus tries to give his teacher a huge box of chocolates. Snoopy has a puppet show with Lucy as less than enthused audience. Snoopy also makes a killer valentine & gives Woodstock one in an odd place. Be My Valentine runs at 25 minutes long.
This disc also has two bonus programs: You're in Love, Charlie Brown(25 minutes) & It's Your First Kiss, Charlie Brown(25 min). All programs have english subtitles. All 3 specials appeal to my children of varying ages and their parents as well :)
This is a great dvd for valentines day or as Charlie Brown's teacher would say, "Mu wa wa wa wa"
You're In Love Charlie Brown is a Classic Peanuts Cartoon.......2006-05-07
So, I don't know what you grew up with... If you lived childhood through the 80s, then you probably remember the Muppets very vividly. The Peanuts did not have a big presence except for maybe the Saturday cartoon which wasn't too popular. But, I do remember those specials for Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Also, my parents gave me those read-along books on those small vinyl records. So, this story resonates strongly in my childhood. Now, if you still remember these books then you probably will find that "You're in Love Charlie Brown" to be the classic of the three shorts. The other valentine-themed stories are rehashed which I don't remember at all. These probably came out much later which you can tell in the drawings. I personally found that "You're in Love Charlie Brown" to have the best drawings that are true to Charles Schultz. The other shorts fall kinda flat and so do the storylines. But, it's better to get more shorts than just only 1 classic in my opinion.
You probably can find these holiday-themed DVDs at your Target and Best Buys during the holidays. For the cost of about $10, you get a decent valued DVD which I don't regret buying. Just don't confuse this with the other similar title called "Charlie Brown Valentine". The covers look almost identical but read the back to find out what shorts are on it. Anyways, I think that over time, you will watch this DVD and smile about your own first crush in elementary school. This one is going to be the one where I watch and remember my kiss near the monkey bars during recess.
A great classic! Plus a couple of others........2006-02-25
Be My Valentine Charlie Brown is a great classic and worth the price on its own. I was a little disappointed that the You're in Love and It's Your First Kiss episodes were not actually Valentine's Day stories. Still, I was pleased with the purchase.
He Makes My Day..........2006-01-16
Charlie Brown is one of the most vulnerable guys I've ever read/seen/heard about. I thought "Be My Valentine, Charlie Brown" was so sad. He makes me want to give him a hug and a valentine. "You're in Love, Charlie Brown" was very cute about his first look at the Little Red-Haired Girl. "First Kiss" was an episode I'd never even heard of...and that one reminded me of the end of "40 Year Old Virgin"...lol. The Peanuts...gotta love 'em!
..........2005-12-05
This dvd is okay. I dont know, maybe Im just pickie, but the reason I say this dvd is okay is because the original voices arent used. Atleast the voices I remember growing up listening to. I dont know maybe its just me, but if the original voices I've grown up knowing were used, I'd given it 5 stars.

Two Good Valentine Favorites.......2007-02-14
I think "Be My Valentine, Charlie Brown" was fine. The only sad things were when Charlie Brown didn't get any valentines until a day later, and when Linus missed giving valentine treats to his teacher. I would have felt the same way as Violet when Charlie Brown wasn't getting valentines. I would say Charlie Brown should have gotten as many valentines as the others. Everybody is too mean to him!
"A Charlie Brown Valentine" was swell because it wasn't as sad. On this one, Charlie Brown seems to go after the little red haired girl through most of it. He wanted to dance with her, but couldn't. What sounded odd to me was that Peppermint Patty sent him a valentine this time. It would only sound like her if she really loved Charlie Brown.

One really good and two not so good Peanuts specials.......2004-06-20
Here's another triple shot of Peanuts on DVD. There are three complete Peanuts specials on this disc and the quality of the three varies greatly. First up is "A Charlie Brown Valentine" from 2002. This is not to be confused with the more entertaining "Be My Valentine, Charlie Brown" from 1975 which is on another DVD collection. "A Charlie Brown Valentine" was produced after Charles Schulz' death and like most of the latter day Peanuts specials, it's not much to get excited about. It's not really bad, like "The Pied Piper" or "It Was My Best Birthday" though. There's really no story line other than that it's near Valentines day. All of the little "skits" contained in this half hour cartoon are lifted straight from the Peanuts comic strip, a la "The Charlie Brown & Snoopy Show" TV series from the 1980s. Since a lot of the strips that it represents were good, it doesn't fall flat on it's face, but it's still pretty lame compared to the shows from the glory days. I'd give it 2 stars.
The second offering on this disc is much, much better, as it was produced during the first decade of Peanuts specials. While it's no "Charlie Brown Christmas" or "Great Pumpkin", this 1973 cartoon, "There's No Time For Love, Charlie Brown" is a keeper. It has a lot of the "classic" Peanuts bits like Marcie calling Peppermint Patty "sir" and a Snoopy segment that includes his "Joe Cool" theme song. Like "A Charlie Brown Valentine" the first several minutes of "No Time For Love" is a lot of gags lifted from the comic pages, this time dealing with school. "No Time For Love" was produced shortly before "A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving" and is of the same quality. I'd give it a strong 4 stars.
Up next is a 1981 effort called "Someday You'll Find Her, Charlie Brown". It's an interesting story but isn't executed very well. Like most of the 80s and 90s Peanuts specials this one suffers a lot. The charm of the earlier specials is absent here and the story seems to move rather slowly. In this one, Charlie Brown ends up a loser, whereas in "No Time For Love" he winds up winning, scoring a kiss from Marcie and an "A" on a school paper. Here, Linus steals his dreamgirl. I'd almost give this one 3 stars for effort but it doesn't quite make it, so 2 stars.
So that's 2 plus 4 plus 2 divided by 3 equaling a DVD worthy of 2.6 stars. Since I like "There's No Time For Love" so much, I'll bump it up to 3.
Good, but not a classic!.......2004-02-20
I mistakenly bought this at the store where they didn't have "Be My Valentine C. B.", so I wasn't aware that this was different. I thought I'd replace our old video, but, as it turns out, the old classic with the briefcases, the heart-shaped shaving lotion, Snoopy clipping a music box Valentine, and Linus hurling chocolates into Snoopy's mouth is not on this DVD. With 2 little ones with me, I did not take the time to read the back. This is for an older crowd. My preschoolers still beg for the old video, while my school kids DO enjoy this DVD (but no contest, the other one wins). I would regret my mistake except that it has 3 "shows" on it and supplements the original quite nicely. Just know that the original is not on here and you'll probably be more pleased.
Love is in the air- especially toward this DVD........2004-01-10
Love is in the air: Lucy loves Schroeder, Peppermint Patty and Marcie love Charlie Brown, Sally loves Linus, and, of course, Charlie Brown loves the little Red Haired Girl. This delightful love triangle (or would that be quadrilateral?) features the music of David Benoit, which is almost as good as original composer Vince Guaraldi. The only things that could make this show better are the voices (especially Sally's- any higher and she'd break your TV screen) and the design of the Little Red Haired Girl. Since Schulz died before this was made, I doubt he designed the little Red Haired Girl, so they should have stayed consistent with her design in "It's Your First Kiss, Charlie Brown" and "Happy New Year, Charlie Brown." Schulz didn't design that one, but I think that is a cuter design.
"There's no time for love, Charlie Brown" features original Guaraldi music and many brief sketches that make me laugh. I enjoy the grocery store version of "Joe Cool" and the silliness of the fact that the kids are in the supermarket but think it's an art museum. But the opening title sure is retro!
"Someday you'll find her, Charlie Brown" is terrible! I don't think it's even written by Schulz, the music is bad because it isn't by Benoit or Guaraldi, and they show adults! In it Linus meets the girl of Charlie Brown's dreams: compare it to "Happy New Year, Charlie Brown." Linus is a girlthief!
But "A Charlie Brown Valentine" is good.
