Description
This 40-minute video uses spectacular and unusual footage of erupting volcanoes from Hawaii and around the world to explain the features found in many of our volcanic national parks and monuments, and to show how they form. It presents up-to-date scientific ideas about lava flows: how they move, how they change, and how they create lava tubes. Designed for an audience that desires to understand more about volcanoes than is generally presented in made-for-TV documentaries. Beautifully photographed and entertaining, yet packed with information and concepts; you will never look at a lava flow the same way again. Winner of an Aegis award for video excellence and a finalist at the 2004 New York Festivals.
The DVD version also contains another program entitled "Kilauea: Close Up of an Active Volcano" (with English, Japanese, German and Korean language tracks, 2000 edition, 30 min.). This international award-winning video describes the origins and types of volcanic activity in Hawaii, and goes into detail on the eruptive activity of Kilauea volcano.
Both programs have chapter menus to make it easier for viewers to find sections of interest and for teachers to use in classes. Together they make a great educational package.
