If you want some morality tossed lightly with education in the videos your children watch, then this is a series for you. These Christian vegetables with a hip sensibility (sample dialogue: "You are so early-'90s.") play out a Batman-meets-Back to the Future scenario when a young asparagus tells his dad a lie to get out of trouble. That lie, embodied by a space alien, grows until it threatens the entire vegetable village, provoking Larry the Cucumber to heed the signal in the sky and hop into his flying Larrymobile designed by the eccentric and fallible inventor Alfred Asparagus. Action, music, and a Jerry-Springer-style deconstruction at the end with a blink-and-you-missed-it reference to God make for a half hour of involving and wholesome entertainment. --Kimberly Heinrichs
Description
"The name's Fibrilious Minimus! But you can call me Fib!" A little fib turns into a big problem for Junior Asparagus! With dad's favorite bowling plate in pieces, Junior is sure to be punished ... until a strange visitor advises him to cover his tracks with a little white lie. Dad buys the story, but Junior notices his new friend seems a little bigger now and a lot less cute! Lies have a way of growing -- and it isn't long before Junior's "little fib" has grown into a 30-foot-tall monster, threatening to devour all of Bumblyburg! There's only one person to call in a crisis like this ... Bumblyburg's own superhero, Larry-Boy! But can anyone stop the Fib from Outer Space?!? Kids will have fun as they learn that "a lie can trap you, but the truth will set you free!"

good learning tool.......2007-05-19
I am having trouble conveying to my child the value of telling the truth. This story put it in terms a child can relate to. Time will tell if it helps!
Great show for the kids...oh yeah, a good lesson too!.......2007-05-12
My 2 boys really enjoy this show, it's one of their favorite Veggie Tales stories. I guess because there is a superhero involved. Larry-boy is totally cool in their opinion, and I like him too. This is by far the best Larry-boy show in my mind. The theme song is pretty rockin'...my 8-year old loves to dance to it.
Good video, better for older kids I think.......2006-02-19
I loved the story in this video but my three-year-old was a bit scared of this one (unusual for Veggie Tales). The morale is great, as usual.
Fantastic story!.......2005-04-20
Okay, you HAVE to buy this! It's such a great way to teach a child about lying, but making it in such a way that they don't forget it. Just telling a child not to lie sometimes doesn't quite drive the message home, but Larryboy sure does! The only thing that might be slightly objectionable here is when the huge space alien lie tries to eat Larry and is actually in his mouth. My little guy got upset about that part because he loves Larry. Other than that, we laughed ourselves silly! I got this because my child decided to tell a lie and I wanted to make sure he actually understood what could happen when lies are told.
Thanks to Veggietales for making a great lesson so much more interesting and unforgettable. We now have a Larrymobile, complete with suction cup ears, and Archibald and Larryboy. Great toy! So, if you want to laugh until you cry while teaching a VERY important lesson, grab this one. It's just nothing short of awesome! Just beware, I'm now going around most of the day talking like Archibald and being asked such questions as "what are you going to make the Larrymobile do now, Archibald? What are you inventing? Can I help?" It gets difficult trying to imitate all those voices all day! Sure is a bunch of fun! Now the Larrymobile has a pizza machine on it so Larryboy won't get hungry saving Bumblyburg, and also a bed so that he can take a nap when he's tired. The imagination just never stops with these videos!
This Video is Great!.......2003-08-08
My 3 year old loves this video.
I love the concept of this one. A small alien falls to earth. It grows as Junior keeps fibbing until he takes over Junior and the City.
Once again the Veggie Tales folks come up with a gem that is extremely well written and well done.
