Five episodes of the animated series on one DVD, The Phoenix Saga follows Jean Grey's transformation into the mysterious and powerful Phoenix. It's a tale full of internal conflict, feuding family members, and the sadness of sacrifice for the greater good. When Professor Xavier receives a psychic plea for help from an alien woman, he sends his X-Men on the next space shuttle to the Eagle One space station. They're greeted by a brute named Erik the Red, who's on a mission from Emperor D'Ken to destroy a rival's ship and take the M'Kraan crystal, which would give him unlimited power. The ship Erik the Red is supposed to destroy contains the emperor's sister, Lilandra, who is the one who established the psychic link to Professor X. Meanwhile, as Jean Grey pilots the shuttle back through the atmosphere to Earth, she is blasted by a burst of radiation that slowly changes her into Phoenix, the guardian of the M'Kraan crystal. The battle for the crystal becomes a battle for the safety of the universe. Family conflicts pop up throughout, from the sibling emperors, to Professor X fighting his half-brother Juggernaut, to Cyclops meeting the space pirate Corsair (who's actually his father). The action scenes at the end are not nearly as engaging as the story that sets them up, but stick it out because the final scene packs a wallop. --Andy Spletzer

LOVE IT !.......2007-05-13
Just thought this was great! I hope in the future we can purchase the whole orignal animated XMEN series on DVD.
X-men is the best selling marvel comic in history!.......2007-04-10
The X-men cartoon was done very well. Various episodes has shown the true meaning of X-men. The phoenix saga is one of the best stories of X-men. The animation is done quite well for a 90's series with excellent story telling and action. Buy this now, its rare and out of print. Very few stores and owners have it now. A must have for all x-men fans!
A Must-Have Classic.......2007-03-16
The Phoenix Saga represents the peak of the X-Men Animated Series of the 1990's, a classic cartoon rendition of the best-selling comics. This DVD presents the five episodes, each featuring top-notch voice acting and animation. The thing that really sets these episodes apart, however, is the phenomenal and fully engrossing fantasy that unravels. The DVD is a rare commodity and is extremely difficult to find. Don't wait!
X-eptional Satanimation.......2007-01-18
Alienated mutants brought under the guidance & care of Professor Xavier. In the mansion, these exceptional individuals learn to access, control, & direct their mighty abilities. A code of nobility is adhered to by these prototype Satanic characters. The similarities between Dr. LaVey, The Church Of Satan, & Satanists, is obvious, in My estimation.
Non-stop action, high quality animation, very interesting characters, stimulating storylines, & ethical relativity contained therein.
X-Men animated cartoons.......2006-08-20
So where is the DVD for this outstanding cartoon? What is the hold up? It really seems like a missed opportunity to have sold these on DVD WHEN the X-Men movies 1-3 were out in theatres! Duh! It's very odd how when every single movie in existence is available on DVD, and not these amazing cartoons? I watched them all when I was a teenager and absolutely loved them and now that I'm thirty-three, I'm still waiting for them to own. What's with the long wait people? What a bunch of slackers (whomever owns the rights to X-Men animated). Come on, get with the program already. Everyone I know wants to buy these on DVD like freakin yesterday.
