Bob discovers that construction crews and wildlife often work at cross purposes when his to-do list is suddenly flooded by projects involving protected species and animals that destroy crops or cause allergic reactions in his clients. Faced with bats in the attic, stir-crazy pigeons, newborn otters, thirsty badgers, and an overly talkative parrot, Bob, Wendy, and the whole construction crew work together to preserve the well being of the animals while accomplishing the goals of their human clients. Description
What do bats, otters, badgers and a parrot have in common? They all get by with a little help form their friends--Bob and his can-do construction team! Wendy finds that Farmer Pickles' fence blocks the badgers' path to the stream, so she teams up with Bob to build a "badger gate" for them. Then Molly discovers a family of otters in the stream and comes up with a "mucky" solution to keep her new friends form being scared. Mr. Beasley provided a home for the bats in the belfry after his pigeons have flown the coop. Finally, Molly and J.J. are thrilled when Hamish the parrot needs a new home--their building yard is just the place for their new friend! Making friends and helping friends--it's all in a day's work!

the first copy I ordered would only play in French. Amazon took it back and sent another that also only played in French. They aren't able to send another since it is a widespread problem.

Great DVD for little ones!.......2005-03-08

We really like this video in our house -it's just great. My little one just loves watching all the stories. The story of the equipment moving someone from their home is really cute and well done. Lofty carries a couch through the air which makes for some interesting comments from the neighbors. I really like the fact that there are videos that send a positive message of working together and building things as a team. These videos are very cute, well done, and well worth the investment.

French Language Update.......2003-10-08

Just to update my previous review. This past weekend I received a new version of the Building Friendships DVD from HIT Entertainment. The new version has English as the default language and all the commericials that were at the beginning of the previous DVD have been moved to the end.

French Language Default and too many advertisements.......2003-09-27

The DVD is not bad. My 22 month old son likes it a lot. The problem is going to be with the parents.

First of all, the DVD default language is in French, so you will most likely have to stop the DVD and switch it to English. I've tried contacting the DVD makers, but have not gotten a response yet.

The second irrating problem is that there are a lot of advertisements for different TV shows before the Bob the Builder program begins. I have to fast forward the DVD to Chapter 7 to get to Bob (Note: The French Language version has no advertisments at the beginning.)

If the makers can issue a version that has English as a default language and no advertisements at the beginning, then they will have a winner. The DVD as it is now is not building any friendships.

My 4 year old loved seeing the new episodes on this DVD. New characters (Trix, Molly) were a nice surprise.
