5 out of 5 stars Smart and fun!.......2007-05-25

We bought this video and the Animal Alphabet video for our son when he was 17 months old. We were looking for live-action stuff that would be good for someone of his age. He's now 22 months old and still loves it. The footage on this video is amazing. I enjoy it because I get to see animals I'd never heard of before (a widow bird, for example) and I get to see animals I'd seen before do things I hadn't seen before. It's a Time/Life production so it's not surprising that they have excellent footage and production values. The songs, written and performed by British composer Anton Mullan, are both catchy and educational. Everyone I've shown this video to has been impressed. A side note: the video intrepidly introduces "zero" after having counted from one to ten. The concept of zero will be out of my son's reach for many years, I think!

5 out of 5 stars great.......2007-05-09

This is truly an educational movie. Not only does it teach counting but also teaches about the animals with snappy upbeat songs.

5 out of 5 stars A toddler must.......2007-05-07

This video teaches much more than just the numbers 0-10. The real footage about animals is fascinating and so fun to watch. The songs are catchy and easy to sing along with. Your children will be able to name dozens of animals at the zoo after watching this video. It's great for all ages. My sons are 2 & 7 and both of them watch parts of the video almost every day. I like it, too!

5 out of 5 stars 40 minutes of Mommy time!.......2006-06-23

I'm not the type to park my son in front of the tv all day, it is mostly just for some time for me to get stuff done (dishes, laundry,...) I found this movie at a discount store for $3 while on vacation. My son was just a year old when he started watching it. HE LOVES IT! He is now 17 months old and watches it at least once a day. I just ordered the alphabet dvd, hopefully he will love it too. I don't think it is just for older kids, my son loves this movie. I disagree that it doesn't get annoying but I don't usually watch with him...I value the 40 minutes of mommy time.

5 out of 5 stars Fun and Educational.......2006-02-25

Our 2 year old twin boys enjoy both Animal Numbers and Animal Alphabet. The songs are catchy and great footage of the animals. For some reason they prefer Animal Alphabet - maybe because we had that one first. Both boys are really into animals right now. We read a lot of books and play games that are based on animals. Since they're also learning to count and say their alphabet, the Animal dvds were a perfect choice.

5 out of 5 stars Cute and lots of learning.......2005-10-04

My son loved the DVD. I like this a bit more than Baby Einstein Numbers Nursery because its more educational. For eg, the numbers shown are upto 10. They show other addition, subtraction and equality facts. My son liked it a lot, because the numbers were shown with animals. He liked the song with the ducks and keeps singing it. I think the new collection of Galloping Minds DVDs - the Baby Learns Series is pretty awesome.

Lily Bunny practices counting by starting with herself as one and working her way through her Busytown neighborhood until she counts 10 hatching chicks at Farmer Fox's farm. But the stakes rise when Lily's parents suggest she go for 11 through 20. This takes the help of Huckleberry Cat and Lowly Worm, and some adventures involving balloons, grocery store trips, and the like. The numerals appear on the screen each time Lily counts, and she recaps in song after counting to 10 and then to 20, making it easy for young counters to follow along. Richard Scarry's classic animated characters provide a fun and educational 24 minutes for kids ages 2 to 5. --Kimberly Heinrichs

2 out of 5 stars This thing is junk but my kid loves it.......2007-02-07

My 33 month old loves it - it's junk, the production quality is weak, and the "story" is lame but my kid loves it. I think it was a great value given how many times he's watched it.

4 out of 5 stars entertaining and educational but very very dated.......2007-01-24

My daughter loves this and is barely two and starting to count after viewing this a few times. So it is great.... but it is so dated, grainy, and glaringly bright that it actually hurts my eyes in certain scenes. They should remake this. If the visual quality was better I would give it five stars.

5 out of 5 stars Richard Scarry's Best Counting Video.......2007-01-16

We received this DVD for Christmas for my 2-1/2 year old daughter, and she absolutely loves it! She asks to watch it all the time, and she loves Huckle Cat. The characters are cute, and the songs are adorable. My daughter recognizes the numbers 1 through 10 with no problem now, and she is working on 11 through 20. We also got Richard Scarry's Best ABC Video (DVD), and I highly recommend that one too.

2 out of 5 stars Boring!!.......2006-11-14

My 22 month old daughter found this video incredibly boring and actually cries for me to turn it off. She loves the leap frog videos, but hates this.

5 out of 5 stars We love it.......2006-11-08

My 2 year old son learned how to count up to 20 in 2 weeks. He did it all by himself by just watching this video everyday. He counts everything around him and everywhere we go. My husband and I are very impressed with this video. Highly recommend.
