VeggieTales goes Dickensian for this sprightly and inventive take on the Christian significance of Easter. Greedy Ebenezer Nezzer, a Scrooge equivalent and manufacturer of such Easter kitsch as plastic eggs and mechanical chickens, mounts a huge commercial campaign to reap further profits from a day that should be about remembering the resurrection of Jesus. With series regulars Bob the Tomato (cast, fittingly, as a Bob Cratchit type) and Larry the Cucumber on board, An Easter Carol finds Ebenezer led by a music-box angel named Hope (voiced by Rebecca S. James) through a spectral journey to discover the real meaning of Christ's death and return. As usual, the animation is lively but the script is less heavy-handed than some other Biblically inspired VeggieTales. Production art includes some wonderful stained glass backgrounds. Veggie good story.......2007-02-12

I really enjoyed the story of Easter Carol and the Easter egg factory. I love they way veggietales brings back the real meaning of the season.

2-1/2 yo Bored, plus Bad, Bad Theology.......2006-05-06

There's no cute intro by Bob and Larry, nor is there a Silly Song. My 2-1/2 yo old, who normally LOVES Veggie Tales, was bored silly and has never managed to sit through the whole video nor has she requested it. I've played it 2 or 3 times, despite some reservations, because, well, I paid for the darn thing! Might as well get some use out of it. But, my daughter couldn't care less.

But what really disappointed me was the story line. The story is all about saving a church building from being torn down, because, apparently without the BUILDING there would be no church or Christians left and the city would be a dreary immoral place. The idea of faith in Christ being inextricably intertwined with the BUILDING horrified me. The church is the body of believers and whether they meet together at a home, a high school gym or in a typical church building doesn't matter.

Once again,Veggie Tales nails it! Awesome story about the true meaning of Easter and how it gives us HOPE! Highly recommend for kids of all ages...mine are 6,4 and 2 and they all love it! The songs and characters are unique as always and so much fun!

The Bright Idea meaning of Easter just for children!

In London early 1800's Greedy Ebenezer Nezzer, is the maker of Easter plastic eggs that come from mechanical chickens. Old man Nezzer is going berserk as he attempts to make Easter bigger! Bob the Tomato and Larry the Cucumber worry that the factory is beyond overload.

As Hope, the music box angel takes old man Nezzer on a journey through his PAST, PRESENT, and FUTURE. Nezzer realizes the significance of Easter, and how relevant hope is for people everywhere.

VEGGIE TALES, VEGGIE TALES, I love them. It's always vivid colors, with Christian lessons for all ages. This DVD came in handy with teaching Marquis, my 5 year old about dealing with the loss of a love one.

An Easter Carol is one of the best Veggietales shows of all time!
(Next to the Star of Christmas and King George and the Ducky).
Mr. Nezzer wants to knock down a church so he can build Easter Land. Filled with chocolate bunnies and eggs, he thinks it will be much better than the church, and everyone in town wants to stop him.
This DVD has such a great message that is more religous than any other Veggietales video. Even the ones that are based on Bible stories. The songs are really catchy, expecially "Boids." It's sort of like a rap song, except slower so you can understand what is being said.
The only thing I didn't understand is why Big Idea only had Archibald Asparagus say TWO LINES in the whole entire 45 minute show. He's the only British character, and this does take place in London. But I still give An Easter Carol 5 stars. It's such a great film about the TRUE meaning of Easter. (Not the Easter Bunny).
