Responsibility, perseverance, and ingenuity are virtues that serve a young gingerbread boy well along a journey of self-discovery. Based on the Candy Land board game, this 55-minute animated adventure begins with a young gingerbread boy named Jib setting off toward the Candy Castle with an offering of special gingerbread icing to present to the King for the "Sweet Celebration" ceremony. At the Castle, King Kandy appoints his rather irresponsible daughter Princess Lolly to appear at the ceremony, stressing that she must bring her royal scepter to ensure the continued blossoming of everything sweet in Candy Land. Jib hurries along the colorful path to the Kingdom, meeting new friends Mr. Mint and Jolly along the way, while the sneaky Licorice Bites steal Princess Lolly's scepter to further Lord Licorice's evil plan to turn Candy Land into Licorice Land. A chance meeting between Jib and Princess Lolly leads the two to join forces against Lord Licorice, but can they possibly recover the scepter and make it to the Candy Castle in time for the celebration? My Kid loves this video, she watches it 5 times a day over and over again...
I am afraid she is going to wear out the DVD!

A very cute movie for children.It brings the characters from the board game to life in a fun adventure that even older children enjoy. If your children like to play Candy Land, then they will love this movie.

When I first got this, my girls (ages 4 and 1) LOVED it. It was always in the car's DVD player. The songs are cute, the animation is colorful and the characters are easy for kids to relate with. Now that my older daughter is 5 1/2 she is begining to outgrow it. She thinks it is "babyish" - but I notice she never objests when her sister picks it.

It has a good message, too. Responsibility and inner beauty. The main character (a little boy gingerbread) has to travel to the castle with his "special gift" for the great candy celebration. He encounters all of the well-known Candyland characters along the way and escapes from the evil Lord Licorice. He makes it to the castle only to find that the special gift is him! It is not complicated. There are no hidden jokes for Mom & Dad, no inuendo, nothing at all offensive. It is a very cute movie and if it gets your kids to play Candyland even more - GREAT!

I bought this after seeing it in the rental store. It looked too cute to pass up. I am always looking for movies that my 3yr. old son will like and that I feel is appropriate. Im tired of all the sarcasm and violence in most kids' movies. This one is pretty innocent, although Lord Licorice could be a little scary for some. I like the vivid colors and happy ending. The music is great too.

I bought this for my two year old daughter. She wants to watch it over and over. My five year old son also likes to watch it. I think it is attractive to kids because of the bright colors and catchy songs.
